[1] ENGLISH Important: Safety information about video games About photosensitive seizures A very small percentage of people may experience a seizure when exposed to certain visual images, including flashing lights or patterns that may appear in video games. Even people who have no history of seizures or epilepsy may have an undiagnosed condition that can cause photosensitive epileptic seizures while watching video games. These seizures may have a variety of symptoms, including lightheadedness, altered vision, eye or face twitching, jerking or shaking of arms or legs, disorientation, confusion, or momentary loss of awareness. Seizures may also cause loss of consciousness or convulsions that can lead to injury from falling down or striking nearby objects. Precipitation, humidity and all types of liquids or moisture can contain minerals that will corrode electronic circuits. · Do not use or store the game card and game deck in dusty, dirty areas. · Do not store the game card and game deck in hot areas. · Do not store the game card and game deck in cold areas. All of the above suggestions apply equally to your game card, game deck, and any enhancement. [2] ENGLISH Inserting the N-GageTM Game Card Nokia N-GageTM 1. Make sure the N-Gage game deck is switched off. If it's on, press and hold to switch off the device. 2. With the back of the N-Gage game deck facing you, slide open the cover (Fig. 1). 3. Slide finger into the finger slot, then lift and remove the battery (Fig. 2). 4. Remove the existing game card or memory card (if you have one fitted). 1 Nokia N-GageTM QD 1. You do not have to switch off the N-Gage QD game deck to change N-Gage game cards. 2. Before inserting or removing a game card, ensure you save all unsaved data as inserting a new game card will close all open applications. 3. Open the card slot (Fig. 1) and insert your game card (Fig. 2). 4. Once a game card is inserted, the game will start automatically. The game icon will automatically appear on the Menu screen once the game card is successfully installed. Press , scroll to the game icon and press Now you're ready to start the game. . 5. Position the N-Gage game card in its slot. Make sure that the gold contacts of the card are facing down and lined up 3 with the gold contacts on the device (Fig. 3). 6. When you have secured the card in place, replace the bat- 4 tery, then replace the cover by sliding it back into place (Fig. 4). Nokia N-GageTM QD Press and hold the power key deck on. To start a game when a game card is inserted, press in standby mode. You can also start games by selecting Games in the menu. Note: A SIM card must be inserted in the N-Gage game deck before a game can be played. Insert a SIM card as described in the N-Gage game deck instruction manual. Note: Do not use the USB port during gameplay. Bluetooth® Multiplayer Game Play* * To play the game with other users via Bluetooth wireless technology, all participants need to have the same game. [3] ENGLISH POWER SLIDE U S I N G T H E N-GAG ETM G A M E D E C K C O NTRO LS The default controls are as follows. Keys can be reconfigured using the Controls option in the Options Menu. Press and hold Key 2 and Controller Key Left or Right while landing to Power Slide. POWER SLIDE BOOSTING During a Power Slide, the boost gauge will appear. When it climbs and turns red, hit Key 5 while Power Sliding to initiate a slide boost. REVERSE Press Controller Key Down when stopped. QUIT MAI N M E N U Select a menu item by pressing Key 5, and go back to previous menus 5 by pressing Key 7. 7 Highlight Quit and press Key 5 to Quit the game. R AC E M O D E S Crash Nitro Kart has 8 different racing modes. SINGLE PLAYER Choose Single Player for Adventure mode, to race against computer opponents in a Single Race or Cup Race, or to beat your best times in Time Trial. ADVENTURE In this turbo-charged mode, your goal is to guide either Team Bandicoot or Team Evil as they race for their freedom and the safety of Earth in Emperor Velo's Galactic Circus. Race through all the different tracks and arenas to collect as many Trophies, Relics, Boss Keys, and CNK Tokens as you can. MULTIPLAYER Select this mode to Race or Battle against your friends using two or more N-Gage game decks over a connection using Bluetooth® wireless technology. (See "Bluetooth® Multiplayer Game Play" Bluetooth® Play on page 13 for details.) TIME TRIAL Time Trial is a single-player mode where you race against your own best times on any of the tracks in the game. There are no opponents to slow you down and no Power-ups to help you out. In a Time Trial, you race to get the best time for three laps around the track. After completing a race, your ghost will become available to race against. Use this feature to challenge yourself to improve! 5 N-GAGETM ARENA Select this mode to log into N-Gage Arena and challenge the worldwide Global Rankings with your fastest Shadow Races. ENGLISH VS SINGLE RACE ARCADE QUICK RACE Choose Quick Race to randomly select a track and character for a super quick race! (Bluetooth® Multiplayer Game Play only) Race against other players but with no computer-controlled racers. VS CUP RACE (Bluetooth® Multiplayer Game Play only) This is just like an Arcade Cup Race but without computercontrolled racers. ARCADE SINGLE RACE Choose a track and race it--instant action! ARCADE CUP RACE Compete against other racers on three different tracks to get the most points. At the end of each race, points are assigned as follows: Placement Scoring 1st place 9 points 2nd place 6 points 3rd place 3 points 4th place 1 point Anyone finishing after fourth gets zilch! At the end of the three races, the player with the most points wins the cup. You can play this mode on your own or against friends in Bluetooth Multiplayer Game Play. Wumpa Cup: Terra 1, Barin 2, Fenomena 3 Nitro Cup: Barin 1, Fenomena 2, Teknee 3 Crash Cup: Terra 3, Fenomena 1, Teknee 2 Crystal Cup: Terra 2, Barin 3, Teknee 1 6 VS WUMPA RACE (Bluetooth® Multiplayer Game Play only) The object of the mode is to be the first to cross the finish line with 20 Wumpa! Race against your friends to collect the Wumpa fruit scattered around the track. There is no lap limit in this mode--you race until the first player crosses the finish line with 20 Wumpa. BATTLE M O D E S Speed around battle arenas collecting weapons and attacking your enemies. You get a point every time you damage an opponent, and you lose a point every time you get hit by a hazard or Power-up. There are two Battle modes in Crash Nitro Kart. POINT LIMIT The first player who gets to the set number of points wins! ENGLISH TIME LIMIT Set the timer and duel it out! Whoever has the most points when time runs out wins! Note: During Adventure mode, you will be able to change characters Note on your team in the Garage, which is available from the Hub World Pause Menu. ADVE NT U R E M O D E H U B WO R LD TO START A NEW ADVENTURE: 1 . Highlight Single Player on the Main Menu and press Key 5. 2 . Highlight Adventure and press Key 5. 5 3 . Highlight an empty slot and press Key 5. 5 To change slots, press Controller Key Up or Down. Down 4 . Select your team by pressing Controller Key Up or Down and pressing Key 5. 5 5 . Choose a character from that team by pressing Controller Key Up or Down and pressing Key 5. Enter a name for your save 5 slot. Use Controller Key to highlight a letter or number, and hit Key 5 to enter your selection. When you are done, highlight the "Checkmark" and press Key 5. 5 6 . After the introductory story plays, you will appear in the Terra Hub World. Drive onto an active warp pad to start your adventure! When starting a new Adventure or loading a saved one, you will be placed in a Hub World level. Here you will find warp pads that will take you to tracks containing various race types where you can prove your stuff! Active warp pads will be glowing, while inactive ones will not. All you need to do is drive onto any active warp pad to start a race! Take advantage of your time in the Hub World by familiarizing yourself with how your kart handles. One main Hub and four other Hub Worlds will become available to you as you progress through the game. Note: A map of the current Hub World will be displayed in the lower right corner of the screen. Glowing blue dots indicate available warp pads. Yellow dots are warp pads to other Hub Worlds. The blinking green triangle displays your current location. TROPHY RACE The heart of Adventure progression in Crash Nitro Kart is the Trophy Race. You must win trophies to activate other warp pads and unlock other race types. So practice those racing skills! 7 ENGLISH BOSS KEY RACE After winning all three trophies in a world, you will have the chance to race against that world's champion. If you win the race, you will be awarded a key that will open another Hub World containing even more tracks and races! CNK CHALLENGE After winning a Boss Key Race, you will be able to go back and race in a CNK Challenge on the various tracks of the world. The letters C, N, and K will be placed around the track. To be awarded a CNK token, collect all three of the letters and finish the race in first place! CRYSTAL ARENA Each world contains a Crystal Arena level. On these special levels you need to collect all of the crystals within a time limit. If you do, you will be awarded a Purple token! You'll have to drive fast! GAR AG E The Garage is available from the Hub World Pause Menu. Here you will be able to track your progress through the game or change your character to another team member. RELIC RACE After winning a Trophy Race, you will be able to go back to the various tracks of that world and race in a Relic Race. You race alone in a Relic Race, and the object is to finish in the shortest time possible. Time crates will be scattered throughout the course. Smash these crates and the clock will stop for 1, 2, or 3 seconds (as shown on the side of the crates)! If you race fast enough, you might be awarded a Sapphire Relic. If you drive even faster, you could get a Gold Relic. Or you just might be fast enough to win a Platinum Relic! So good luck and drive fast! AKU AKU/UKA UKA HINTS When you are in the Hub World, Aku Aku or Uka Uka will stop by to give you tips and hints on how to play the game more effectively. If you would like to review them later, you may do so from the Hub World Pause Menu. To do this, press Left or Right Selection Key while in the Hub World, highlight HINTS, and press Key 5. Pressing Controller Key Up and 5 Down will change the active hint. Press Key 5 to view the selected hint. 8 ENGLISH S AV E A N D LOA D LOAD TO SAVE A GAME: Games are saved automatically at the end of each race when playing in Adventure Mode. 4. Choose the slot you would like to erase and hit Key 5. 5 5 . Confirm that you want to delete the slot by highlighting Erase and hitting Key 5, or select Cancel if you don't 5 want to erase the slot. TO CONTINUE A SAVED ADVENTURE: 1 . Highlight Single Player on the Main Menu and press Key 5. 5 2 . Highlight Adventure and press Key 5. 5 3 . Highlight the slot you wish to load and press Key 5. 5 4 . You will be placed in the Hub World where your last save occurred. TO DELETE ALL DATA: 1. Highlight Single Player on the Main Menu and press Key 5. 5 2. Highlight Adventure and press Key 5. 5 3. Highlight Erase and press Key 5. 5 4. Highlight All Data and press Key 5. 5 5. Confirm that you want to erase all data by highlighting Erase and hitting Key 5, or select Cancel if you don't want 5 to erase the data. Caution: This removes all Crash Nitro Kart data from the Caution N-Gage game deck. Deleting all game data will also cause the game to Quit. TO DELETE A SAVED ADVENTURE: 1. Highlight Single Player on the Main Menu and press Key 5. 5 2. Highlight Adventure and press Key 5. 5 3. Highlight Erase and press Key 5. 5 9 ENGLISH POWE R-U PS Pick up these Power-ups and weapons by driving over the boxes with question marks on them. TNT EXPLOSIVE CRATES Drop these on the track to give the racers behind you a nasty surprise. If they drive into one of these killer crates, it'll latch onto their head and start counting down. If the fuse runs out, they'll wipe out when it explodes in their face. If they jump enough times while the crate is on their head, it will come loose and fly off into the air. Juiced ­ Your TNT crate will be upgraded to a green NITRO crate that explodes as soon as someone hits it. TURBO BOOSTS A free bottle of boost! Use this item to get an extra boost of speed and zip ahead of your opponents or out of the way of a missile. Juiced ­ Get an even longer and bigger boost. BOWLING BOMBS When Velo goes bowling, he doesn't fool around! These bombs shoot out from your kart in a straight line until they explode against a wall or, with luck, another kart! If your aim is a little off, you can detonate the bomb remotely when it's next to your target. To do this, just press Powerup Key again. If there's a kart (or missile) on your tail, hold Controller Key Down and press Power-up Key to shoot the bomb backwards. Juiced ­ The bomb moves faster and the explosion radius is even bigger. HOMING MISSILES These lock on to the nearest opponent you can see and zoom after them. They'll explode on contact and send your opponent into a killer tumble. If you see a set of crosshairs on your character, it means you've been targeted, so start dodging! Juiced ­ The missile goes faster and tracks the target better. 10 INVINCIBILITY MASKS Activate this item to get your team mascot (Aku Aku for Team Bandicoot, Uka Uka for Team Evil) to spin around your kart as a protective shield for a short time. While it's active, weapons and hazards can't hurt you, and any karts that you "accidentally" bump into will spin out. You'll also go slightly faster while the mask is active. Juiced ­ Your mascot mask will stick around to protect you longer. ENGLISH TORNADO TOPS You can easily even the odds with this This protective green bubble will save you from getting hit by one weapon or hazard. You can also attack your opponents with it by bumping into them while it's on or by launching it using Power-up Key. Once activated, it will fade Key away after a few seconds even if you don't use it. Juiced ­ The blue juiced bubble still goes away when you hit something, but it has no time limit. This mine will put anyone who drives over it into a giant ice cube, causing slippery steering. Put it near tight corners to cause less wary racers to get iced up. Juiced ­ The ice cube will take longer to melt and will send you into a spinout. POWER SHIELDS powerful weapon. When you release this super cyclone, it will immediately home in on whoever is in first place and catch his kart up in a mini tornado. Of course, anyone unlucky enough to get in its path will also get caught up in a tiny twister. Juiced ­ A more deadly tornado top will knock out more people along the way. INVISIBILITY (Bluetooth® Multiplayer Game Play only) Activate this Power-up to become invisible to all your opponents. You'll still see a ghost of yourself, but no one else in the arena will be able to see you. Great for sneak attacks. Juiced ­ Stay invisible even longer. FREEZING MINES N. TROPY CLOCKS This wicked watch will allow you to alter time and slow down every other kart on the track. When you activate it, all of your opponents will spin out and become sluggish. This is a great way to come back from behind, so take advantage of it. Juiced ­ The time effect will last even longer. SUPER ENGINES (Bluetooth® Multiplayer Game Play only) Replace the engine in your kart with something a bit more tricked out. For a short time, you'll zip around faster than any other kart in the arena. It's just the thing for outrunning speeding missiles. But the engine will run out after a few seconds, so use it or lose it! Juiced ­ A little more funk in your trunk. 11 ENGLISH HIGH SCORES Best times in Time Trial mode are saved for each track. Toggle through the different tracks by pressing Controller Key Left and Right. Right BLUETOOTH® If you highlight Status and press Key 5, you can set your 5 Bluetooth wireless connection status to On or Off. If you highlight Identifier and press Key 5, you can change your 5 Bluetooth Identifier, which is the name other Bluetooth devices will see when connecting to your N-Gage game deck. OPTIONS TI SOUND You may change the sound levels of the music and sound effects of Crash Nitro Kart. Do this by highlighting Options on the Main Menu and pressing Key 5. Highlight Sound and press Key 5. Press 5 5 Controller Key Up or Down to highlight Music or FX. Press Controller Key Left or Right to adjust the levels. Highlight Done and press Key 5 when you have finished. CHEATS If you highlight Cheats and press Key 5, you will have access to 5 any cheats you have unlocked during game play. Cheats can be unlocked by achieving top scores, collecting Relics and other tokens as well as exploring tracks. Good luck unlocking them all! CONTROLS You may also customize your control configuration in Crash Nitro Kart. To do this, highlight Options from the Main Menu and press Key 5. 5 Highlight Controls and press Key 5. Highlight Change and press 5 Key 5. You may now choose the key you wish for each action. If you 5 wish to reset the controls to the default settings, highlight Default and press Key 5. When you have finished, highlight Done and press Key 5. 5 5 12 LANGUAGE If you highlight Language and press Key 5, you can choose the language of your preference. CREDITS To view the credits, highlight Options from the Main Menu and press Key 5. Highlight Credits and press Key 5. 5 5 ENGLISH AY E B LU ETO OTH ® M U LT I PL AYE R GAM E PL AY You may link up to four N-Gage game decks together via Bluetooth wireless technology. Each N-Gage game deck will need its own copy of Crash Nitro Kart in order to access the Multiplayer game modes. Highlight Multiplayer from the Main Menu and press Key 5. Choose 5 to be Host or Client. One player must host the game and the remaining players can connect to the Host to play in multiplayer mode. After the Bluetooth wireless connection is established the Multiplayer Menu will appear. The following Multiplayer options are available: TRACK Select the track or arena you would like to race on. CUP Select the cup you would like to race for in Arcade Cup and Vs. Cup modes. TIME Select the time limit for Battle Time mode. POINTS Select a point limit for Battle Point mode. CHARACTER SELECT Select the character you would like to use. LAPS Select the number of laps you would like to race in Arcade and Vs. modes. MODE Select from Arcade, Vs., or Battle. TYPE Lists race types available in a selected mode. POWER-UPS Customize the list of available Power-ups for a multiplayer race. DIFFICULTY This adjusts the difficulty setting of the computer-controlled opponents in Arcade Single-Player and Arcade Cup. 13 ENGLISH N-GAG ETM A R E NA FEAT U R E S FEATU To access Crash Nitro Kart's N-Gage Arena features you will need to have an active GPRS subscription with your mobile operator and also have your N-Gage game deck correctly configured to access wireless data services. Please consult your N-Gage game deck's User Guide or www.n-gage.com for more information about GPRS configuration. Once you have selected New Account, you must read and accept the N-Gage Arena Service Usage Terms (available at http://www.n-gage.com). To create an account, fill in the fields requested including Username, Password, Security Question, Security Answer, Birth Date and then select Submit. Now you will be able to access all N-Gage Arena features for CNK by returning to the Login Menu and entering your new Username and Password. If you ever need to change or retrieve your Password after creating your account, select Account Settings from the N-Gage Arena Main Menu. The following options are available: · Change Password ­ Select to change your password if you have already set up an account. · Retrieve Password ­ Select if you have forgotten your password. LOGGING ON Selecting N-Gage Arena from the Main Menu will let you begin your logon to N-Gage Arena. You will then be prompted to select your Connection Profile (see your N-Gage game deck's User Guide for more information about Connection Profiles). If the Nokia N-Gage game card is found to be defective in material and workmanship within that 90 day warranty period, the Nokia N-Gage game card will be replaced free of charge. This limited warranty does not apply if the defect shall have been caused by negligence, abuse, damage, modification, tampering or any other causes not related to defective materials or workmanship.
