WARNING - Repetitive Motion Injuries and Eyestrain Playing video games can make your muscles, joints, skin or eyes hurt after a few hours. Follow these instructions to avoid problems such as tendinitis, carpal tunnel syndrome, skin irritation or eyestrain: · Avoid excessive play. It is recommended that parents monitor their children for appropriate play. · Take a 10 to 15 minute break every hour, even if you don't think you need it. · If your hands, wrists or arms or eyes become tired or sore while playing, stop and rest them for several hours before playing again. · If you continue to have sore hands, wrists or arms or eyes during or after play, stop playing and see a doctor. WARNING - Seizures · · · Some people (about 1 in 4000) may have seizures or blackouts triggered by light flashes or patterns, such as while watching TV or playing video games, even if they have never had a seizure before. Anyone who has had a seizure, loss of awareness, or other symptom linked to an epileptic condition should consult a doctor before playing a video game. Parents should watch when their children play video games. Stop playing and consult a doctor if you or your child have any of the following symptoms: Convulsions Eye or muscle twitching Loss of awareness Altered vision Involuntary movements Disorientation To reduce the likelihood of a seizure when playing video games: 1. Sit or stand as far from the screen as possible. 2. Play video games on the smallest available television screen. 3. Do not play if you are tired or need sleep. 4. Play in a well-lit room. 5. GETTING STARTED Correctly insert the Game Pak into your Game Boy® Advance system. Switch on the system. Press START at the title screen. WARNING : Inserting a Game Pak when the system is already on might result in damage to the Game Pak. GAME SELECT MENU Play Matchbox Missions:TM Air, Land and Sea RescueTM or Emergency ResponseTM. Press the Control Pad Left and Right to move cursor between titles. Press the A Button to select game. Press the A Button to select option. START/PASSWORD SCREEN Selecting START will take you straight to the beginning of the game. Fire Department.........Helicopter Paramedic Service.....Ambulance Police Department......Marine Patrol Boat FIRE DEPARTMENT: Selecting PASSWORD will allow you to enter any password you have received during game play. After entering the password, you will be taken to the beginning of the stage where you received that password. As MATCHBOX® County's Number 1 Fire Service Pilot, you will be dispatched to the scene of raging fires. Flying a unique Fire Service helicopter, you must tackle the fire and rescue any occupants and fly them to safety. You will also be called upon to deliver essential supplies by air to Fire HQ. There is a limited supply of fuel on board, so look out for Fuel pick-ups PARAMEDIC SERVICE: As MATCHBOX® County's premier paramedic, it is your mission to race to the scene of the accidents. You then have to transport the injured parties to MATCHBOX® County Hospital, so they can receive treatment. You must also collect vital equipment from all over the county and make sure it arrives in time. With all these trips to make, you will have to make sure your gas tank is always full. AIR, LAND AND SEA RESCUETM INTRODUCTION An interactive rescue game featuring a vehicle from each of the three emergency services: the Fire Department, the Paramedic Service, and the Police Department. Each service will be represented by a different type of vehicle and will have different missions to perform. Each mission will be pertinent to that Service and vehicle. 6 7 POLICE DEPARTMENT: As MATCHBOX® County's only Marine Patrolman, you have many responsibilities. It is your duty to: rescue anybody stranded by rising tides, place marker buoys to show safe swimming areas, and to keep the shoreline clear of obstructions. Your boat can only carry a limited amount of fuel on each journey, so remember to stock up regularly. When you get the call......will you be a hero? DIFFICULTY Easy: There is a readily available supply of fuel for each mission on this setting. So-So: With a little less fuel, the task becomes a little more of a challenge. Medium: There is less available Fuel on this setting and more missions to complete. Tricky: This time the struggle to complete the missions becomes more difficult with even less fuel. Hard: On this setting you will find Fuel is at a minimum and there are even more missions to complete. MISSIONS Mission 1: Helicopter Fires have broken out all over the City! Your first Mission is to locate the fires and to rescue anyone in danger. Get them on board and transport them back to base. Check your radar to see the closest fire......and good luck! Play in POLICE MISSIONS: 3 Missions using Police Boat. Play in BADGE MISSIONS: 8 Missions using vehicles from all three services. Play in FIRE MISSIONS: 3 Missions using Fire Service Helicopter. Play in PARAMEDIC MISSIONS: 2 Missions using Ambulance. 8 9 Mission 2: Boat Keep your County tidy! MATCHBOX® County's coast line is very important and must be kept clear of debris for the safety of swimmers and sailors. Collect all the TV sets, car tires, and broken crates. Mission 3: Paramedic Dial 911! There are casualties and patients all over the city who need transport to the hospital. Your mission is to collect the patients and deliver them to the front entrance. Mission 4: Helicopter Put out the fires! Fill up with water at Fire Service HQ....and drop it on the burning buildings. Put out all the fires to complete this mission. Mission 5: Boat Mission 6: Paramedic Vital Supplies! Pick up supplies from locations around the city and transport them to the Hospital. Don't run out of fuel.......the supplies are VITAL! Mission 7: Helicopter New Equipment! The Fire Service has equipment to collect from all over the city. Get the crates onboard and deliver them back to base. Mission 8: Boat Sudden Tides! The tide came in rapidly today and stranded people out on the islands. Use your radar to guide you through the islands and rescue everyone. WINNING THE GAME Violent Storm! There was a storm last night and a number of buoys have come away from their moorings. Your mission is to collect all the buoys before they drift out to sea. Complete all missions to win. 10 11 PAUSE/OPTIONS MENU: Pressing START during game play will bring up the Pause/Options Menu. PLAY GAME: Press `PLAY' to take you back to the game. SOUND EFFECTS ­ ON/OFF: This setting will allow you to turn the Sound Effects ON or OFF. MUSIC ­ ON/OFF: This setting will allow you to turn the Music ON or OFF. DIFFICULTY : EASY, SO-SO, NORMAL, TRICKY, HARD: This setting will allow you to change the difficulty level of the game. PASSWORD: Selecting `PASSWORD' will allow you to enter any password you received during game play. QUIT: Selecting `QUIT' will end the game and return you to the Title Screen. HINTS AND TIPS Keep an eye on fuel levels as running out of fuel will result in losing a life. Use the Control Pad Left and Right to move cursor between options. Press the A Button to select option. 12 13 PLAY AS `POLICE' INTRODUCTION There's a suspect loose in MATCHBOX® County. As the city's top policeman, it's up to you to stop him before he reaches the County line and escapes your jurisdiction. Using your Patrol Car, you must stop the suspect by ramming his car and running him off the road........but be careful. This one is a slippery customer and will constantly be looking for ways to escape! START/PASSWORD SCREEN Selecting START will take you straight to the beginning of the game. Selecting PASSWORD will allow you to enter any password you have received during game play. After entering the password, you will be taken to the beginning of the stage where you received that password. WINNING THE GAME You must stop the suspect's escape before he reaches the safety of the County Line to win the game. 14 15 DIFFICULTY As the difficulty level increases (from Easy, to So-So, to Normal, to Tricky, to Hard), the suspects's vehicle becomes increasingly faster and more aware of the route it is taking. ON SCREEN: PLAY AS `SUSPECT' INTRODUCTION You have been set up by a gang of crooks who want to take over MATCHBOX® County. They know they can't do it with you there, so they have planted some incriminating evidence and the Police are hot on your trail. It's going to be impossible to clear your name from a jail cell. Therefore you must evade the Police, make it to the County Line, and prove your innocence. The Police will chase you all the way. They'll even try to damage your car to slow you down, so they can make the arrest. It's up to you now! FUEL RADAR WINNING THE GAME Fuel: Shows current fuel level (remember to pick up fuel as you go along). Radar: Shows current position of opponent's car. You must evade capture and reach the safety of the County Line to win the game. 16 17 DIFFICULTY As the difficulty level increases (from Easy, So-So, Normal, Tricky, to Hard), the Police vehicle becomes increasingly faster and more aware of the route you are taking. ON SCREEN: Level 2 ­ Dry Valley Desert is a vast sandy wasteland with dry dusty roads. Look out for drifting sand and take great care when passing over the level crossings. Level 3 ­ High above MATCHBOX® County is Snowy Peaks. It's cold and icy here so driving can be quite hazardous. The snow-covered countryside hides a number of obstacles, so watch out for the icy roads and snow drifts. Level 4 ­ This level is set at nightfall and is the most dangerous. All obstacles must be negotiated in darkness. DAMAGE FUEL PAUSE/OPTIONS MENU: Pressing START during game play will bring up the Pause/Options Menu. PLAY GAME: Press `PLAY' to take you back to the game. RADAR LEVEL DESCRIPTIONS Level 1 ­ Drive through the leafy suburbs, but watch out for Fire Hydrants, Road Signs and Lamp Posts. Also, be careful to avoid the road-works. SOUND EFFECTS ­ ON/OFF: This setting will allow you to turn the Sound Effects ON or OFF. MUSIC ­ ON/OFF: This setting will allow you to turn the Music ON or OFF. DIFFICULTY: EASY, SO-SO, NORMAL, TRICKY, HARD: This setting will allow 18 19 you to change the difficulty level of the game. PASSWORD: Selecting `PASSWORD' will allow you to enter any password you received during game play. QUIT: Selecting `QUIT' will end the game and return you to the Title Screen. HINTS AND TIPS Learning the shortest route through each terrain type and avoiding street furniture (lamp-posts, fire hydrants etc.) will enable you to catch your suspect/evade your pursuer more easily.
