ENGLISH Ó « socket of the loudspeaker 15 OPERATION ____________________________________________________ General information The PSW 5000 system works with a wireless audio receiver integrated in the outdoor loudspeaker, which enables the reception of the wireless audio signals from the wireless module. Loudspeaker connection cables are no longer necessary. The wireless audio transmission range is limited by national and international regulations to prevent radio interference from neighbouring devices. The wireless audio transmission power is <10 mW. This guarantees an unhindered reception range of approximately 100 m. This range is restricted inside buildings, depending on the construction materials used. Avoid placing the system near metal objects or electrical devices such as cordless telephones which use radio signals. Since the audio signals are not transmitted on an exclusive range we cannot guarantee that this will not cause interference. To avoid interference you can choose between 3 transmission channels. In some circumstances, people, walls and other surfaces can reflect radio signals. Reflected signals can mix with non-reflected signals, thus causing a type of interference known as multipath reception. This can lead to noise or a temporary loss of sound. If such interference does occur, simply position the transmitter or the loudspeaker differently. Switching on the system 1 Switch on the hi-fi system. Note: If the audio outputs of your hi-fi system have an adjustable output level, you can adjust the volume on the hi-fi system. If the audio output levels are fixed, you have to adjust the volume on the loudspeaker. 2 Set the transmission channel (1, 2 or 3) with »Channel 3 2 1 Off« on the wireless module. The operating display of the wireless module (front of the device) lights up. Switch on the loudspeaker with »ON/OFF «. The operating display of the loudspeaker lights up. On the loudspeaker, set the same transmission channel (1, 2 or 3) as set on the wireless module using »Channel 1 2 3« (bottom of the device). If necessary, set the required volume on the loudspeaker with » z +«. Note: If signal interference occurs during operation, select another transmission channel which corresponds on both the wireless module and the loudspeaker. 3 4 5 16 OPERATION ____________________________________________________ Connecting external audio sources You can relay the sound of an external audio source (e.g. digital music player) to the loudspeaker via a standard audio cable. 1 2 Plug the audio cable into the »MP3/AUX IN« socket. Plug the audio cable in the corresponding output socket of the external audio source. Notes: The loudspeaker must be switched off before connection. As soon as the connection has been made, the loudspeaker automatically switches to the external audio source. Signals from the wireless module can no longer be received. Boosting bass sounds 1 2 To activate the bass boost, press »UBS« on the loudspeaker. The LED for bass boost glows. To deactivate bass boosting, press »UBS« again. The LED for bass boost stops glowing. Switching the loudspeaker lighting on and off There are two lamps in the area of the woofer reflector. 1 Press »LIGHT« to switch the lighting on and off. Switching off the system 1 2 3 Switch off the loudspeaker with »ON/OFF «. The operating display of the loudspeaker stops glowing. On the wireless module, set the »Channel 3 2 1 Off« switch to »Off«. The operating display of the wireless module (front of the device) stops glowing. Switch off the hi-fi system. 17 ENGLISH INFORMATION _______________________________________________ Troubleshooting In some circumstances, people, walls and other surfaces can reflect radio signals. This can lead to noise or a temporary loss of sound. When such a problem occurs, it usually suffices to reposition the loudspeaker or select a different channel combination on the wireless module and the loudspeaker. If the remedies below are not successful, please consult your specialist dealer. Fault The outdoor loudspeaker does not work. Possible cause The transmission channels do not match. Remedy Set the switches on the transmitter and the outdoor loudspeaker to the same transmission channel. Select a different transmission channel on the wireless module and the outdoor loudspeaker. Reset the player. To do this pull out the mains adapter plug or remove the batteries. Restore the power supply after a short time. There is noise interference Interference caused by on the outdoor loudspeak- another device. er. Malfunctions occur. Static electrical charge. Technical data These devices are noise-suppressed according to the applicable EU directives. These products fulfil the European directives 89/336/EEC, 73/23/EEC and 93/68/EEC. These devices conform to the safety regulation DIN EN 60065 (VDE 0860) and therefore the international safety regulation IEC 60065. Never open the devices.
