ibm thinkpad t42 user manual download, great computer overall.. Don't have any, works good for my home office, the system is cool!!!. For me l think its one of the best.intially when l bought the ibm thinkpad laptop l was not happy because l never knew so much about it before until a friebd of mine who is an engineer told l benefits and how lucky am to buy it.personally my self one l observe even b/4 he told me a lot about it is that the machine is strong!! , it's made by ibm . I am searching for the user guide for a thinkpad 42 all over the place. everybody does talk only but where is the manual, why is it impossible to even find the proper ling, i love my ibm thinkpad t42, but it did not come with a user guide., little bit slow in speed, memory expandability limited--not the best design..

easy to use, reliable, good value for money, nice unit if you can get it to turn on.. I still have to learn to use it , good buy, some bugs, but not too bad, overall. Is the perfect laptop, it is very good.. Will know more after i get the user manual, solid laptop, solid laptop, t42 is very good.

easy to usse, i like it very much, ver quick, haven't used it much yet waiting for the user guide to get to now it better.. My first time using a thinkpad but it is impressive. , well it is a good value if you buy it used. a new battery should get you up to 5.5 hours of use if you set max battery mode and turn down your screen brightness and turn off the wireless card that come on each time you boot up. , bought secondhand/used. very happy with the system. I'm shopping for another thinkpad., thank you. Very good, good product, i am very pleased with my purchase, im a novice to pcs ido own a t42,but i dont feel qualified enough to comment.

really great laptop - if you are in the market for a great laptop, this is it!!!!, it is light on memory and is slow. said it was ready for xp, right!. Isnt bad buy, great computer for the money, i personally think this computer is the best bang for your buck. It is a great computer , very good laptop. How would i know. don't have the user guide yet., haven't used it yet. how would i know., can not get the wireless switch to turn on therefore i can not rate its performance yet., though it may be an older model. i find it perfect for traveling..

fast starting, just fine. Always read the user guide before buying !!! , i love it it's quick easy to use and sturdy., it works great for my uses. do have some problems getting it to work with my projector . Nice machine, i bought a refirbished thinkpad and it did not come with a user manual. thanks for the help! you are terrific.. I like it, xgfhs tryw eyyt, it is ok, thinkpad is okay however keeps losing wireless signal.

looks good. it is a refurbished machine. i have not yet seen the user manual, so my comments before using the laptop are not really valid., i am almost computer illeterate, but i need information on how to use the t42. Great machine, only had it a short time. so far it's great! really like the full-size keyboard., i haven't used it too much yet, but it seems well built.

Use this manual along with the advanced diagnostic tests to troubleshoot problems. The manual is divided into sections as follows: v The common sections provide general information, guidelines, and safety information required in servicing computers. v The product-specific section includes service, reference, and product-specific parts information. Important This manual is intended for trained service personnel who are familiar with ThinkPad products. Use this manual along with the advanced diagnostic tests to troubleshoot problems effectively. Portions © IBM Corp. 2006. 1 2 T40/T40p, T41/T41p, T42/T42p Introduction Important service information Important BIOS and device driver fixes are customer-installable. The BIOS and device drivers are posted on the customer support site http://www.lenovo.com/support Advise customers to contact the Customer Support Center at 800-426-7378 if they need assistance in obtaining or installing any diskette fixes. Customers in Canada should call the Customer Support Center at 800-565-3344 for assistance or download information. Strategy for replacing FRUs Before replacing parts Make sure that all diskette fixes are installed before replacing any FRUs listed in this manual. Use the following strategy to prevent unnecessary expense for replacing and servicing FRUs: v If you are instructed to replace a FRU but the replacement does not correct the problem, reinstall the original FRU before you continue. v Some computers have both a processor board and a system board. If you are instructed to replace either the processor board or the system board, and replacing one of them does not correct the problem, reinstall that board, and then replace the other one. v If an adapter or a device consists of more than one FRU, any of the FRUs may be the cause of the error. Before replacing the adapter or device, remove the FRUs, one by one, to see if the symptoms change. Replace only the FRU that changed the symptoms. Attention: The setup configuration on the computer you are servicing may have been customized. Running Automatic Configuration may alter the settings. Note the current configuration settings (using the View Configuration option); then, when service has been completed, verify that those settings remain in effect. © Lenovo 2006. Portions © IBM Corp. 2006. 3 Important service information Strategy for replacing a hard disk drive Always try to run a low-level format before replacing a hard disk drive. Attention: The drive startup sequence in the computer you are servicing may have been changed. Be extremely careful during write operations such as copying, saving, or formatting. If you select an incorrect drive, data or programs can be overwritten. How to use error messages Use the error codes displayed on the screen to diagnose failures. If more than one error code is displayed, begin the diagnosis with the first error code. Whatever causes the first error code may also cause false error codes. If no error code is displayed, see whether the error symptom is listed in the Symptom-to-FRU Index for the computer you are servicing. Diskette compatibility matrix The compatibility of each of the drives with the diskettes for it is as follows: Diskette drive 3.5-inch Diskette capacity 1.0 MB 2.0 MB 4.0 MB Compatibility Read and write Read and write Not compatible Safety notices: multilingual translations In this manual, safety notices appear in English with a page number reference to the appropriate multilingual, translated safety notice found in this section. The following safety notices are provided in English, French, German, Hebrew, Italian, and Spanish. 4 T40/T40p, T41/T41p, T42/T42p Safety notices Safety notice 1 Before the computer is powered on after FRU replacement, make sure all screws, springs, and other small parts are in place and are not left loose inside the computer. Verify this by shaking the computer and listening for rattling sounds. Metallic parts or metal flakes can cause electrical shorts.
