TM USB 2.0 Quick Install Plus Easy Instructions for Creating CDs Install Drive IMPORTANT: USB 2.0 is a very new technology. Since most computers will not have native support for USB 2.0, you must install a USB 2.0 adapter card for your Iomega® CD-RW USB drive to run at USB 2.0 speeds. If you do not have a USB 2.0 card installed, the Iomega CD-RW USB drive will still work connected to a standard USB connection at standard USB speeds. PC Users--After installing a USB 2.0 adapter card, make sure there are no exclamation marks under Universal Serial Bus Controllers in the device manager. To find out: 1. Right click My Computer and select Properties. 2. Select the Device Manager tab. 3. Scroll down until you find the Universal Serial Bus Controllers. Click the plus sign next to it and make sure there are no yellow exclamation marks. 4. If there is a yellow exclamation mark or if Universal Serial Bus Controllers does not appear in Device Manager after installing the USB 2.0 card, contact the card's manufacturer for help. Mac Users--USB 2.0 support depends on the USB 2.0 adapter card you use. Consult the card's manufacturer for more information. 2 Install Drive 1 Unpack your Iomega® CD-RW USB drive, start your computer, wait for the operating system to load, then insert the Solutions CD. The Solutions CD menu should open automatically when you insert the CD. If it does not, double-click the Solutions CD icon in My Computer, then double-click the Start icon. Mac® users double-click the Solutions CD icon on the desktop, then double-click the Start icon. 3 Install Software 2 Install the Iomega® HotBurn® Software. Click the Iomega HotBurn button. Select Click to Install to start the HotBurn software installation. The HotBurn software contains the system software necessary to use your CD-RW drive. For more detailed installation instructions or troubleshooting information select the User's Manual and print the pages you need. Follow the instructions on the screen to install the software, then shut down your computer before connecting the CD-RW drive. 4 Install Drive 3 OPTIONAL: Connect the included audio cable to the back of the drive. NOTE: The headphone jack is located on the front of the drive. Plug in headphones only while listening to audio CDs. 5 Install Drive 4 OPTIONAL: Connect the audio cable to the "Audio In" line on the back of your computer. Ensure the computer and the drive are off before connecting the audio to your computer. 6 Install Drive 5 Locate the power supply and cable. Connect the power supply and cable to the Iomega® CD-RW drive. To prevent damage to the power plug, connect straight on with the arrow side up. Do not twist. Examine the connection carefully to avoid bending pins. The green power light on the front of the drive flashes momentarily when you plug in the power supply. Now restart your computer. 7 Install Drive 6 Attach the USB cable to the drive. Examine the connection carefully for the correct orientation, then connect the cable with the USB symbol on the connector facing up. 8 Install Drive 7 Connect the other end of the USB cable to the USB 2.0 adapter card connection on your computer. Use the USB cable included. NOTE: If you cannot identify the USB 2.0 connection, refer to the documentation for your card.
