IPFones and Skype, empowering consumers with three different ways to send/receive calls any where in the world. Page 3 User's Manual 3 Installation Step 1: Install Skype software, create a Skype User ID, and add names of people you want to call to your contact list. Step 2: Install IPFones software. Step 3: Connect the IP-700m to your computer USB port and start calling family, friends, and colleagues. Detail information for each step is described below. 3.1 Installing Skype Software Load the IPFones CD into your computer CD-ROM drive and wait for the installation program to be launched (automatically). The following screen will display. To start the install, select English or French by double click on the red bullet next to the language. The following screen will display. Page 4 User's Manual Click on the "INSTALL SKYPE" button to begin the installation of Skype software. Select English language or your language of choice and click the Next button. Page 5 User's Manual Read the license agreement, check the "I accept the terms in the license agreement" and click the Next button. Click the Next button. Page 6 User's Manual Click the Next button. Congratulations, you have successfully installed Skype software. Click the Finish button to configure your Skype installation. Page 7 User's Manual If you are a new user to Skype, fill in the above screen and click the Next button. For existing users, select the "Existing Users..." tab and login to Skype to continue. Page 8 User's Manual All fields are optional. When the above screen is displayed, you can enter optional information then click the Update button. In most cases, you will see two Skype windows displayed. At this point, you have successfully created a Skype user name for yourself to join in the Skype community of more than 200 millions users world wide (and growing). You will now add your friends' Skype user-name(s) to your contact list. To do this, just close the "Getting Started Wizard" by clicking the "Close Wizard for Now" button. Click OK to continue. Congratulations, you have successfully added a Skype user to your contact list. Press Next to add more users or Finish to end. Page 10 User's Manual Installation Notes: 1. If IPFones software is previously installed on your PC, you may see additional windows asking for "Allow this program to use Skype" or "Do not allow this program to use Skype". When these additional windows are displayed, please always choose the "Allow this program to use Skype" and click OK. 2. Depending on your firewall configuration, another window may be displayed by your firewall and ask you to allow or not allow Skype (or IPFones) software to get access to your PC. When you see these windows, always allow Skype or IPFones software access. The following picture is an example of Skype window asking user to allow or do not allow IPFones.exe software to use Skype. Page 11 User's Manual 3.2 Installing IPFones Software To install IPFones software, return to the IPFones installation, and click on the "INSTALL IPFONES" button. Select English or your preferred language, then click the OK button. Page 12 User's Manual Click the Next button. Read the license agreement, check the "I accept the terms in the license agreement" and click the Next button. Page 13 User's Manual Click the Next button. Click the Finish button to end. Page 15 User's Manual 3.3 Connect Your IP-700m to Your PC/Notebook Connect your IP-700m to the USB port of your computer. Once connected to the USB port, the phone's LCD screen will display the month, day, year and time. Page 16 User's Manual 4 4.1 Using IP-700m and Skype How to Make a Call There are a few ways to call people: · · · IP-700m to IP-700m IP-700m to regular/cellular phone Speed-Dial 4.1.1 Calling from IP-700m to IP-700m: 1. Pickup your IP-700m and press any button (except the hang up red button), the Skype window will display. 2. Use the IN or OUT button to switch from tab to tab. and Down buttons to select the 3. Calling from IP-700m to regular/cellular phone Prior to calling out to regular/cellular phone, you must activate SkypeOut service. To activate SkypeOut, please visit www.Skype.com for details. To call regular/cellular phone: 1. Press the In or Out button to switch to the Dial tab on the Skype window. 2. Enter the phone number you want to call. Since this is a world phone, please always enter the international code "00", the country code and area/city code. For the US, the country code is "1" thus to call the number 714-555-1212, you need to enter 0017145551212 and press the green Send button. button.) (To delete and correct a number, press the Clear 3. Need to find out what prefix number to include, it's useful to visit SkypeOut Dialing Wizard at http://www.skype.com/products/skypeout/rates/dialing.html Note: IPFones and Skype is not a telephony replacement service and cannot be used for emergency dialing. 4.1.3 Speed Dial Assigning a speed dial number to a Skype username will allow you to initiate the call to a person directly from the IP-700m using a speed dial number. To assign a speed dial number, open your contact list on the Skype window, point to the desired contact, then right mouse click on that contact and select "Assign Speed-Dial". The following window will display. Page 17 User's Manual Enter any number (say 12) and press the OK button. In this example, 12 will be assigned as a Speed-Dial number for janesmith271. To call janesmith271, simply press 12 and press the Send button on the IP-700m key pad. 4.2 Changing IP-700m Sound Volume To change the sound volume of IP-700m, run the IPFones program from menu Start Programs IPFones IPFones, the following window will display. To change volume, click on the slide of the Speaker or the Microphone volume to increase or decrease the volume. Page 18 User's Manual 5 Appendix A ­ SkypeIn and SkypeOut Services Followings are additional information from the Skype Website. 5.1 SkypeIn With SkypeIn, you can get your own, regular phone number. So if your friends who aren't using Skype want to call you by dialing a regular number, you can still receive the call in Skype. No matter where you are. So, if you have a Chicago-based SkypeIn number, but you're living somewhere in the suburbs of Paris, your Chicago area friends - or anyone! - can just dial your SkypeIn number, and your Skype on the other side of the world starts ringing... and your friends are only paying whatever their phone company charges them for making a phone call to Chicago. SkypeIn makes it much easier and less expensive for those of your friends, family and business contacts who are not necessarily connected to the Internet to call you and share that urgent news, or to just tell you that their cat had nine (9!) kittens. To make it even better, SkypeIn comes with a free Skype Voicemail subscription, so when Aunt Jenny calls you about urgent pet-related matters, but you're busy or even offline, she can leave you a voicemail message (and you know she will). 5.2 SkypeOut Since not everyone has Skype yet. That's why we have SkypeOut, a low cost way to make calls from Skype to friends who still use those traditional landlines or mobile phones. That means calling anyone, anywhere in the world at local rates. Just as an example, when you use SkypeOut to call France, Germany and United Kingdom, you can save up to 56% per minute compared with AT&T CallVantageSM 4 . 4 Compared with AT&T CallVantageSM on November 12 2004. Go to your account page (there's a link on the Start tab or in the Tools menu in Skype or you access it from the Store), select the amount of credit you wish to add and make the payment with any major credit card. Switch back to Skype, enter a phone number, hit the big, green phone button and start talking. That's all there is to it. When you run out of credits, it's just a quick trip back to the account page to top up and you're good to go again. Your SkypeOut credits will remain active for 180 days after your last SkypeOut call. Page 20
