WHAT YOUR WATER FILTER PITCHER WILL DO
The cartridge, in the Water Filter Pitcher, in cludes activated carbon mineral. Activated car bon is a mineral having a great ability to adsorb and hold tastes and odors. It is used to remove many different bad tastes and/or odors from drinking water. A product data sheet is in cluded that tells you what the filter will remove from your water. DO NOT use with water that is microbiologically unsafe, or of unknown quality without adequate disinfection. Each filling of the Water Filter Pitcher gives you about 2 quarts of refreshing, good tasting, fil tered water.

USING YOUR WATER FILTER PITCHER
Fill the basket with COLD faucet water and replace the cover. Wait until the wa ter filters through the cartridge (takes 3 to 5 minutes). To fill the pitcher (about 2 quarts of fil tered water), remove the cover and fill the basket with cold water once more, to complete the batch. Before using the water, read the follow ing notes. · The first time you use the Water Filter Pitcher, and whenever you change the cartridge, dis card the first batch of filtered water. It may contain some harmless carbon particles (``fines'') from the new cartridge. · Use the filtered water immediately, or if you prefer colder drinking water, refrigerate for lat er use. · Keep the cover on the pitcher at all times, ex cept when filling, or pouring filtered water. The cover seals the pouring spout and prevents odors from entering the cartridge and stored water.
Notes: · Maximum water temperature is 80°F.
CARE AND REPLACEMENT OF THE FILTER CARTRIDGE
Always keep the cartridge (and basket) in the pitcher, with the cover on. This limits the adsorbing of airborne odors, and pre serves the life of the cartridge. DO NOT allow the cartridge to dry-out. If you do not expect to use the pitcher for a few days or longer, completely sub merge the cartridge in water until you are ready to use it again. If the cartridge does dry-out, soak it in water for at least 1 hour before using. This will restore it as close as possible to origi nal condition. Cartridge life is about 30 days, or 25 gal lons (50 pitcherfuls) of filtered water. This time will vary with the quality of the faucet water. When you notice taste and/ or odor in the filtered water, replace the cartridge.
Note: Keep the new cartridge wrapped in the plastic bag until you are ready to use it.
