Keyspan TuneView for iPod Quick Start This Quick Start guide is intended to guide you through the basic setup and first use of the Keyspan TuneView for iPod. More detailed documentation can be found on Keyspan's website (http://www. keyspan.com/). If you are setting up multiple TuneView units, set them up one at a time. Package Contents The Keyspan TuneView for iPod package (TVI-200C Package) contains the following items: · TuneView Dock · Dock Adapters (x3) · USB Power Adapter · Audio Cable · TuneView Remote · Batteries (2 x AA) · USB Cable · Printed Quick Start Step 1 - Connect Audio and Video Cables Audio: Connect the audio cable's 3.5mm stereo jack to the LINE OUT port on the back of the TuneView Dock. Next, connect the stereo cable's dual RCA connectors to your stereo/ speakers. Video: The S-Video jack allows connection to a TV for LINE OUT viewing slideshows and video on your televi[audio] sion (if your iPod supports these features). Connect one end of an S-Video cable (not included in the TVI-200C Package) to the S-VIDEO OUT port on the TuneView nect the other end to your TV. S-VIDEO OUT [video] SYNC/POWER [USB] Dock and then con- Step 2 - Connect The USB Cable/Power Supply To Your Dock Connect one end of the USB cable to the SYNC/POWER port on the TuneView Dock. Connect the other end of the USB cable to the USB port on the USB Power Adapter. Troubleshooting Tip: Note: When you power up your TuneView Dock, You can connect the TuneView Dock to your its status light will turn on and then turn off computer via the included USB cable. Step 3 - Insert Included Batteries Into The TuneView Remote Turn over your TuneView Remote and remove the battery cover. Pg 1 Page 2 - TuneView for iPod Quick Start Step 4 - Insert Universal Dock Adapter and iPod Into The TuneView Dock Insert the appropriate Universal Dock Adapter for your iPod. The TuneView Dock includes three dock adapters for use with iPod : #3 - iPod mini (4GB or 6GB), #4 - 4G iPod (20GB or U2 Special Ed.), #6 - iPod with color display (20GB, 30GB, or U2 Special Ed.). If you have a 4G iPod (40GB) or an iPod with color display (40GB or 60GB), please purchase the appropriate dock adapter from Apple. If you have a newer iPod (such as a nano 1G, nano 2G, or 5G iPod with video), please use the dock insert that came with your iPod. Once the dock adapter is installed, connect your iPod to the TuneView Dock. Note: 3G iPods are not supported by the TuneView dock. Step 5 - Check For Communication / Finishing Up At this point, you will see the Keyspan logo on your iPod's screen, your iPod is now charging and is ready to be used with the TuneView. Firmware Note: TuneView Remote requires your iPod to have the latest firmware. If your firmware is out of date, the TuneView Remote will report "This iPod needs its firmware updated to use it with TuneView" Step 6 - Finishing Up The TuneView LCD screen will now display TuneView's Main Menu screen (see image). Your TuneView for iPod is ready for use! You can now use the remote to browse your iPod contents. For more details on how to use the remote and information about its buttons, proceed to the next sections in this Quick Start. Language Note: The TuneView Remote menu system can be displayed in English (default setting), Spanish, French, and German. This is set in the Setup screen under the TuneView's Main Menu (navigate to Main Menu > Setup > ). Using TuneView Within 75 feet of the dock you will typically find that the RF signal between the dock and the remote is strong (even when the signal is passing through 1-3 residential walls). In this area it will not matter which direction you are facing when using the TuneView remote. Beyond 75 feet, if the signal is passing through 1 or more walls, you may find that you need to point the TuneView remote in the general direction of the TuneView dock in order to obtain good performance. * Range of 150 feet or more is obtained in open space. Pg 2 Page 3 - TuneView for iPod Quick Start TuneView Buttons The following describes the buttons on the TuneView Remote: You will use these buttons to navigate the TuneView interface. Up / Down Arrows Select Play/Pause Menu Volume Up / Down Next Track [Fast Forward] Previous Track [Rewind] Wizard button Use to scroll up/down menus Use to select a choice Use to play/pause current selection Use to return to previous menu Use to change volume Press once to go to next track/chapter Press and Hold to fast forward Press once to go to previous track/chapter Press and Hold to rewind The Wizard button will display a dynamic/ contextual menu based on what you are currently doing. While browsing songs, the Wizard menu will let you jump to the beginning, middle, or end of a list. The Wizard button can also be used as a shortcut to access Mute and to show the current playing song's details (Song Display). Playing and Selecting Songs / Audiobooks / Podcasts To play songs using the TuneView remote, use the Up and Down arrow keys to navigate the TuneView Main Menu. Press the Select button to enter a menu and select again to begin playing a song. At this point, you can use the Play/Pause button to play or pause the current selection. You can also use the Menu button to navigate to another menu (the Menu button is similar to the MENU button on your iPod ). Playing and Selecting Videos Playing and selecting videos is similar to playing and selecting songs. When you play a video, your video will be displayed on your TV (via the Dock's S-Video connection) and your video's details will Pg 3 Page 4 - TuneView for iPod Quick Start be shown on the remote. If your video has chapters, press the Next/Previous track buttons to advance to the next chapter in your video (if your video has chapters). Repeat, Shuffle and Other Settings To set your Shuffle settings (Off/Songs/Albums) and/or Repeat settings (Off/One/All), access the Setup menu from theTuneView Main Menu. The Setup menu also allows you to turn on/off the Scroll Thumb (the small slider that indicates your position within a menu), set the TuneView's default language, and view your TuneView's firmware version. TroubleShooting - Reset To Factory Settings If you are having problems with your TuneView Remote, this section provides troubleshooting information. More detailed information can be found on Keyspan's website. Reset To Factory Settings Step 1 - Reset Remote On the TuneView Remote, press and hold the Wizard button and the Up Arrow button at the same time, until the TuneView screen turns off and then on again (this may take up to 3 seconds). This will reset your remote and an animated red lighting bolt will appear on the remote's screen until you pair/sync with the remote (steps 2 and 3). å Step 2 - Reset Dock On the TuneView Dock, locate the Pair With Remote button on the bottom of the dock. Press and hold this button with a paper clip (or similar object) for 5 seconds until the dock's Status light blinks. At this point, your dock is read to pair/sync with the first remote it detects. Step 3 - Pair/Sync Remote To Dock On the TuneView Remote, press any button. The animated red lighting bolt will disappear when communication has been established with the dock. If you have any problems with this process, contact Keyspan support (see details below).
