Page 2 of 7 KWrite Data(PDA) User's Manual Document No. KWrite Data User Interface - Download File The currently selected KDA file is displayed in the box labeled Download File. The file path can be edited, or click the button to the right of the path to browse for the file. - Comm Port The current serial port setting is displayed in the box titled Comm Port. The setting is either AUTO, to try all available serial ports, or COM1 through COM10, to designate a specific serial port. To edit the serial port setting, click the button marked Edit. Figure 1 Click on the setting you wish to select. Click on the button marked OK, or press the Enter key, to edit the serial port setting and close the window. Confirm that you want to start the download by clicking on the button marked Yes. A window will appear showing the progress of the download. Figure 2 Figure 3 Figure 4 When the download has completed (or failed to complete), a window appears, showing the result of the download. If the download was successful, the window is green and contains the text OK. Is the download was unsuccessful, the window is red and contains the text NG and an explanation of the error. In either case, an additional message may request that the ECU be reset. If this message appears, please reset the ECU before attempting to download again. Page 4 of 7 KWrite Data(PDA) User's Manual Document No. - Serial Number Acquisition To read the serial number of the attached ECU, click the button marked Serial No Read. Confirm that you want to read the serial number by clicking on the button marked Yes. When the serial number has been read (or reading the serial number failed), a window appears, showing the results. If the serial number was successfully read, the window is green and contains the text OK and the serial number. If the serial number could not be read, the window is red and contains the text NG and an explanation of the error. Click on the button marked OK to close the window. - Terminating the Application When you are finished using the application, click the button marked End to quit the application. Page 5 of 7 KWrite Data(PDA) User's Manual Document No. Error Summary Error Message Checksum failed Causes The checksum does not match the data sent. A transmission error is possible. COM port initialization failed The indicated Comm Port does not exist, or is in use by another application. Could not load flash loading softwareThe path to the flash loading software was incorrect. Or, the flash loading software file could not be found in the application's directory, or was incorrectly formatted. This error will be displayed if the flash loading software contains an invalid record, or the application runs out of memory while loading the flash loading software. Could not load KDA file The specified KDA file does not exist, or cannot be read by the application. This error also occurs if the KDA is smaller than 24 bytes, or the application runs out of memory while loading the KDA file. Data Version:[Data Version] Hardware Serial:[Serial Number] version of the ECU. Data Serial:[Data Serial Number] Hardware Serial:[ECU Serial Number] The serial number of the KDA file does not match the serial number of the ECU. The data structure version of the KDA file does not match the hardware Data Version:[Data Version] Software Version:[Software Version] version of the ECU. ECU is not ready for loading ECU not detected The data structure version of the KDA file does not match the software The ECU is not in the correct mode to receive a download. Page 6 of 7 KWrite Data(PDA) User's Manual Document No. Encryption key is incorrect The encryption key in the application's settings file does not match the encryption key used to encrypt the specified KDA file. Error communicating with ECU The ECU has been disconnected from the PC, or there was a transmission error between the application and the ECU. Error retrieving ECU serial number There was a transmission error while requesting the ECU's serial number, or the ECU's serial number is not formatted correctly. Error retrieving ECU software version There was a transmission error while requesting the ECU's software structure version, or the ECU's software structure version is not formatted correctly. Error transmitting data to ECU The ECU indicates that it is not ready to receive data, an error occurred while sending data, or the ECU reported an error after sending the flash loading software. Error transmitting flash loading software The ECU indicates that it is not ready to receive flash loading software, an error occurred while sending flash loading software, or the ECU reported an error after sending the flash loading software. Error transmitting software to ECU The ECU indicates that it is not ready to receive control software, an error occurred while sending control software, or the ECU reported an error after sending the control software. Invalid INI file setting Settings matching the KDA file's hardware version cannot be found in the application's setting file. KDA file is incorrectly formatted The size of the KDA file is incorrect, the application's setting file does not contain a matching hardware type, or the application ran out of memory while opening the KDA file, KOKUSAN DENKI CO.,LTD Development & Design Engineering Div.
