Read Instructions - All the safety and operating instructions should be read before the appliance is operated. 2. Wall or Ceiling Mounting - The appliance should not be mounted to a wall or ceiling. 7. For example, the appliance should not be situated on a bed, sofa, rug, or similar surface that may block the ventilation openings; or, placed in a built-in installation, such as a bookcase or cabinet that impede the flow of air through the ventilation openings. 8. Heat - The appliance should be situated away from heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves, or other appliances (including amplifiers) that produce heat. 9. Power Sources - The appliance should be connected to a power supply only of the type described in the operating instructions or as marked on the appliance. 10. Grounding or Polarization - Precautions should be taken so that the grounding or polarization means of an appliance is not defeated. 11. Power Cord Protection - Power supply cords should be routed so that they are not likely to be walked on or pinched by items placed upon or against them, paying particular attention to cords at plugs, convenient receptacles, and the point where they exit from the appliance. 12. Cleaning - The appliance should be cleaned only as recommended by the manufacturer. 13. Power lines - An outdoor antenna should be located away from power lines. 18. Outdoor Antenna Grounding - If an outside antenna is connected to the receiver, be sure the antenna system is grounded so as to provide some protection against voltage surges and built up static charges. Section 810 of the National Electrical Code, ANSI/NFPA 70 provides information with respect to proper grounding of the mast and supporting structure, grounding of the lead-in wire to an antenna discharge unit, size of grounding conductors, location of antenna-discharge unit, connection to grounding electrodes, and requirements for the grounding electrode. See Figure. CAUTION Use of controls or adjustments or performance of procedures other than those specified herein may result in hazardous radiation exposure. This compact disc player is classified as CLASS 1 LASER PRODUCT as stated on the bottom of the set. 2 BATTERY SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS CAUTION: 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. 10. TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE OR PERSONAL INJURY OR DAMAGE TO YOUR SET, READ AND FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS. Use only the type and size of batteries mentioned in the operating instructions booklet (batteries are not included with this set, please buy the proper batteries). Do not dispose the batteries into a fire. The cells may explode. Check with local codes for possible special disposal instructions. Do not open or mutilate the batteries. Released electrolyte is corrosive and may cause damage to the eyes or skin. It may be toxic if swallowed. Be careful when handling batteries in order not to short the battery with conducting materials such as rings, bracelets and keys. The battery or conductor may over heat and cause burns. Do not attempt to recharge non-rechargeable batteries. The batteries may leak corrosive electrolyte or explode. Do not attempt to rejuvenate the batteries identified for use with this product by heating them. Sudden release of the battery electrolyte may cause burns or irritation to eyes or skin. All batteries should be replaced at the same time. Mixing fresh and discharged batteries could increase internal cell pressure and rupture the batteries. and ) or When inserting batteries into this product, the proper polarity ( direction must be observed. Reverse insertion of some or all of the batteries may result in battery electrolyte leakage or explosion. Remove the batteries from this product if the product will not be used for a long period of time (several months or more) since during the period the batteries could leak, damaging the product. Discard weak or dead batteries as soon as possible since they are more likely to leak in the product. Batteries should be replaced (depending on the product) when the display gets dim or if the Low Battery Indicator shows or if the sound gets distorted. Do not store this product in high temperature areas. Batteries that are stored in a freezer or refrigerator for the purpose of extending shelf life should be protected from condensation during storage and defrosting. Batteries should be stabilized at room temperature prior to use after cold storage. If this product does not operate normally, see TROUBLE SHOOTING in this instruction manual. If you cant resolve the problem, or if the product is damaged, refer to the LENOXX WARRANTY INFORMATION. Opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltages or other risks. Incorrect reassembly can cause electric shock when the appliance is subsequently used. If liquid leaks from the batteries, carefully wipe this liquid. Do not allow it to touch your skin, and discard the leaking batteries. Do not mix batteries (OLD and NEW or CARBON and ALKALINE, etc.). The use of rechargeable batteries is not recommended for this set because their voltage and life is lower than standard batteries. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS 3 CHOOSING THE POWER SOURCES AC SOCKET You can use the AC power or batteries as a power source. To a wall outlet NOTE: One blade of plug and outlet is wider. Battery compartment TIP If the plug of the AC power cord does not match your outlet, do not force it. Reverse it and try again. The plugs are polarized and only fits one way into the wall outlet and back of the set. 1. Connecting the AC power cord Insert one end of the supplied AC power cord (located in the battery compartment) into the socket located at the rear of the player, and the other end to the wall outlet. 2. Using the player on batteries Insert 6 size C batteries (not supplied) into the battery compartment. To use the player on batteries, disconnect the AC power cord from the player. TIP Replace the batteries when the POWER lamp dims or when the player stops operating. Replace all the batteries with new ones. Before you replace the batteries, be sure to take out the CD from the player and remember to check the Battery Safety Instructions on Page 3. c c c c c c U P PE R LO W E R 4 PLAYING A CD 1 3 2 4 Connect the supplied AC power cord or batteries (see page 4). 1 FU N C TI N O Slide the FUNCTION switch to CD position (power on), the POWER lamp will be on. Lift the right corner of the CD DOOR to open it and place the CD in the CD compartment. The label side of the CD should face upward. POWER lamp 2 3 4 PLAY / PA USE Close the CD DOOR by pushing it down. The display will show the total tracks on that CD. Press the CD PLAY button. The PLAY / PAUSE lamp will be steady on, the player plays all the tracks once. Track PLAY/PAUSE number lamp 5 USE THESE BUTTONS FOR ADDITIONAL OPERATIONS VOLUME CONTROL (at the left side of the set) FUNCTION SWITCH OPEN THE CD DOOR BY LIFTING HERE TIP When CD play is paused, the PLAY/ PAUSE lamp will flash and no music will play. To resume play, press the PAUSE button again, the PLAY/PAUSE lamp will stop flashing and music will play. To Adjust the volume Stop playback Press or Adjust VOLUME control Pause playback The PLAY/PAUSE lamp will flash during pause. Press again to resume play after pause. TIP If you bump the set during CD play, the music will stop or skip for a few seconds. This is normal for this type of player. Go to the next track Go back to the previous track Locate a point in a song FORWARDS BACKWARDS or Press and hold down while playing until you find the point. Lift the CD DOOR (press STOP first) Slide the FUNCTION switch to TAPE position Remove the CD Turn off the power 6 LISTENING TO THE RADIO 2 1 4 3 Connect the supplied AC power cord or batteries (see page 4). 1 FU N C TI N O Slide the FUNCTION switch to RADIO position, the POWER lamp will be on. 2 Slide the BAND switch to the proper band position (AM, FM, or FM STEREO) that you want. 3 4 FM STEREO T U N I N G Tune into the station you prefer using the TUNING control (at the right side of the set). Adjust for the clearest sound. This indicator will light up when receiving FM Stereo broadcasts. 7 USE THESE BUTTONS FOR ADDITIONAL OPERATIONS 2 1 TIP To Adjust the volume Turn off the Radio · If the FM broadcast is Slide or Adjust VOLUME control (at the left side of the set) Slide the FUNCTION switch to TAPE position noisy, slide the BAND switch from FM Stereo to FM position (MONO). · Next time you want to listen to the radio, just slide the FUNCTION switch to RADIO. The player automatically starts playing the previously tuned station. To improve broadcast reception Change position of the antenna for FM or FM Stereo. Move the set itself for AM. 8 PLAYING A TAPE 1 2 3 Connect the supplied AC power cord or batteries (see page 4). 1 FU N C TI N O Slide the FUNCTION switch to TAPE position. TAPE PLAY DIRECTION A 2 STOP/EJECT Press the STOP/EJECT button to open the tape compartment and insert a recorded tape. Close the door. EMPTY REEL FULL REEL INS ERT TAPE THIS WAY F ULL REE L ON RIG HT 3 PLAY Press the PLAY button. The player turns on and starts playing. OK NO 4 AUTO STOP When the set finishes playing this side of the tape, the set will stop.
