Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. Wall or Ceiling Mounting - The appliance should not be mounted to a wall or ceiling. 3. CAUTION Use of controls or adjustments or performance of procedures other than those specified herein may result in hazardous radiation exposure. TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE OR PERSONAL INJURY OR DAMAGE TO YOUR SET, READ AND FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS. Use only the type and size of batteries mentioned in the operating instructions booklet (batteries are not included with this set, please buy the proper batteries). Do not dispose the batteries into a fire. The cells may explode. Check with local codes for possible special disposal instructions. Do not open or mutilate the batteries. Released electrolyte is corrosive and may cause damage to the eyes or skin. It may be toxic if swallowed. Be careful when handling batteries in order not to short the battery with conducting materials such as rings, bracelets and keys. The battery or conductor may over heat and cause burns. Do not attempt to recharge non-rechargeable batteries. The batteries may leak corrosive electrolyte or explode. Do not attempt to rejuvenate the batteries identified for use with this product by heating them. Sudden release of the battery electrolyte may cause burns or irritation to eyes or skin. All batteries should be replaced at the same time. Mixing fresh and discharged batteries could increase internal cell pressure and rupture the batteries. When inserting batteries into this product, the proper polarity ( and ) or direction must be observed. Reverse insertion of some or all of the batteries may result in battery electrolyte leakage or explosion. Remove the batteries from this product if the product will not be used for a long period of time (several months or more) since during the period the batteries could leak, damaging the product. Discard weak or dead batteries as soon as possible since they are more likely to leak in the product. Batteries should be replaced (depending on the product) when the display gets dim or if the Low Battery Indicator shows or if the sound gets distorted. Do not store this product in high temperature areas. Batteries that are stored in a freezer or refrigerator for the purpose of extending shelf life should be protected from condensation during storage and defrosting. Batteries should be stabilized at room temperature prior to use after cold storage. If this product does not operate normally, see TROUBLE SHOOTING in this instruction manual. If you cant resolve the problem, or if the product is damaged, refer to the LENOXX WARRANTY INFORMATION. Opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltages or other risks. Incorrect reassembly can cause electric shock when the appliance is subsequently used. If liquid leaks from the batteries, carefully wipe this liquid. Do not allow it to touch your skin, and discard the leaking batteries. Do not mix batteries (OLD and NEW or CARBON and ALKALINE, etc.). The use of rechargeable batteries is not recommended for this set because their voltage and life is lower than standard batteries. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS 3 IB-CD105(SY)-DG-E-041602 CHOOSING THE POWER SOURCES AC SOCKET You can use the AC power or batteries as a power source. To a wall outlet Battery compartment NOTE: One blade of plug and outlet is wider. TIP If the plug of the AC power cord does not match your outlet, do not force it. Reverse it and try again. The plugs are polarized and only fit one way into the wall outlet and back of the set. 1. Connecting the AC power cord Insert one end of the supplied AC power cord (located in the battery compartment) into the socket located at the rear of the player, and the other end to the wall outlet. 2. Using the player on batteries Insert 8 size C batteries (not supplied) into the battery compartment. To use the player on batteries, disconnect the AC power cord from the player. TIP Replace the batteries when the display dims or when the player stops operating. Replace all the batteries with new ones. Before you replace the batteries, be sure to take out the CD from the player and remember to check the Battery Safety Instructions on Page 3. 4 IB-CD105(SY)-DG-E-041602 PLAYING A CD 1 3 5 2 4 Connect the supplied AC power cord or batteries (see page 4). 1 2 3 4 5 FUNCTION Slide the FUNCTION switch to CD position, the display will show two dashes --, then . Press the CD DOOR OPEN button to open it and place the CD in the CD compartment. The label side of the CD should face upward. Close the CD DOOR by pushing it down. The display will show the total tracks on that CD. Press the CD PLAY button. The PLAY/ PAUSE lamp will be steady on, the player plays all the tracks once. To change the sound effect, adjust the TONE knob to your taste. 5 Track PLAY/PAUSE number lamp IB-CD105(SY)-DG-E-041602 USE THESE BUTTONS FOR ADDITIONAL OPERATIONS FUNCTION SWITCH VOLUME CONTROL CD DOOR OPEN BUTTON TIP When CD play is paused, the PLAY/ PAUSE lamp will flash and no music will play. To resume play, press the PAUSE button again, the PLAY/PAUSE lamp will stop flashing and music will play. To Adjust the volume Stop playback Press or Adjust VOLUME control STOP PLAY/PAUSE The PLAY/PAUSE lamp will flash during pause. Press again to resume play after pause. Pause playback TIP If you bump the set during CD play, the music will stop or skip for a few seconds. This is normal for this type of player. Go to the next track Go back to the previous track FORWARDS BACKWARDS or Press and hold down while playing until you find the point. Press the CD DOOR OPEN button (press STOP first) Slide the FUNCTION switch to TAPE (POWER OFF) position Locate a point in a song Remove the CD Turn off the power 6 IB-CD105(SY)-DG-E-041602 LISTENING TO THE RADIO 3 1 5 4 2 Connect the supplied AC power cord or batteries (see page 4). 1 2 3 4 Slide the FUNCTION switch to RADIO position. Slide the BAND switch to the proper band position (AM, FM, or FM STEREO) that you want. Tune into the station you prefer using the TUNING control (at the back of the set). Adjust for the clearest sound. This FM STEREO indicator will light up when receiving FM Stereo broadcasts. 5 To change the sound effect, adjust the TONE knob to your taste. 7 IB-CD105(SY)-DG-E-041602 USE THESE BUTTONS FOR ADDITIONAL OPERATIONS 2 1 TIP To Adjust the volume Turn off the Radio · If the FM broadcast is Slide or Adjust VOLUME control Slide the FUNCTION switch to TAPE (POWER OFF) position noisy, slide the BAND switch from FM Stereo to FM position (MONO). · Next time you want to listen to the radio, just slide the FUNCTION switch to RADIO. The player automatically starts playing the previously tuned station. To improve broadcast reception Change position of the antenna for FM or FM Stereo. Move the set itself for AM. 8 IB-CD105(SY)-DG-E-041602 PLAYING A TAPE 1 2 3 Connect the supplied AC power cord or batteries (see page 4). 1 2 STOP Slide the FUNCTION switch to TAPE position. TAPE PLAY DIRECTION A Press the STOP button to open the tape compartment and insert a recorded tape. Close the door. EMPTY REEL FULL REEL INSERT TAPE THIS WAY FULL REEL O N RIG HT 3 PLAY Press the PLAY button. The player turns on and starts playing. OK NO 4 AUTO STOP When the set finishes playing this side of the tape, the set will stop. To hear the other side of the tape, flip the tape over, then insert and press PLAY. 9 OK NO IB-CD105(SY)-DG-E-041602 USE THESE OPERATIONS HEADPHONE JACK BUTTONS FOR ADDITIONAL VOLUME CONTROL PAUSE STOP FAST F.&REWIND PLAY To Adjust the volume Stop playback Fast forward or rewind the tape Pause playback Press or Adjust VOLUME control STOP button FAST FORWARD REWIND button button or PAUSE button Press again to resume play after pause. STOP button Insert your headphone plug into the HEADPHONE Jack (at the left side of the set). Make sure cassette buttons are all up (stop). Eject the cassette To enjoy the music without disturbing others To shut power off 10 IB-CD105(SY)-DG-E-041602 RECORDING ON A TAPE 2 1 3 Connect the supplied AC power cord or batteries (see page 4). 1 STOP Press the STOP/EJECT button to open the tape compartment and insert a blank tape. Select the program source (AM, FM, CD, or, built-in microphone) you want to record. To record from the CD player, insert a CD and follow the steps to play a CD (see page 5). To record from a radio, slide the FUNCTION switch to RADIO, and tune into the station you want (see page 7). To record from the built-in microphone, leave the FUNCTION switch at the TAPE position, and speak in front of the set.
