Use only the type and size of batteries mentioned in the operating instructions booklet (batteries are not included with this set, please buy the proper batteries). Do not dispose the batteries into a fire. The cells may explode. Check with local codes for possible special disposal instructions. Do not open or mutilate the batteries. Released electrolyte is corrosive and may cause damage to the eyes or skin. It may be toxic if swallowed. Be careful when handling batteries in order not to short the battery with conducting materials such as rings, bracelets and keys. The battery or conductor may over heat and cause burns. Do not attempt to recharge non-rechargeable batteries. The batteries may leak corrosive electrolyte or explode. Do not attempt to rejuvenate the batteries identified for use with this product by heating them. Sudden r eleas e of the batter y electrolyte may c ause burns or irritation to eyes or skin. All batteries should be replaced at the same time. Mixing fresh and discharged batteries could increase internal cell pressure and rupture the batteries. When inserting batteries into this product, the proper polarity ( and ) or direction must be observed. Remove the batteries from this product if the product will not be used for a long period of time (several months or more) since during the period the batteries could leak, damaging the product. Discard weak or dead batteries as soon as possible since they are more likely to leak in the product. Batteries should be replaced (depending on the product) when the display gets dim or if the Low Battery Indicator shows or if the sound gets distorted. Do not store this product in high temperature areas. Batteries that are stored in a freezer or refrigerator for the purpose of extending shelf life should be protected from condensation during storage and defrosting. Batteries should be stabilized at room temperature prior to use after cold storage. If this product does not operate normally, see TROUBLE SHOOTING in this instruction manual. The use of rechargeable batteries is not recommended for this set because their voltage and life is lower than standard batteries. To a wall outlet NOTE: One blade of the plug and outlet is wider. AC SOCKET · Replac e the bat t eries when the POWER lamp dims or when the player stops operating. Replace all the batteries with new ones. Before you replace the batteries, be sure to take out the CD from the player and remember to check the Battery Safety Instructions on Page 3. If the CD does not play on batteries, this means the batteries are almost used up. But the radio may continue to play on t hese weak batt eries bec ause it us es les s power than the CD player. 1. Connecting the AC power cord Insert one end of the supplied AC power cord into the socket located at the rear of the player, and the other end to the wall outlet. 2. Using the player on batteries Insert 6 size "C" batteries (not supplied) into the battery compartment. To use the player on batteries, disconnect and remove the AC power cord both from back of the player and the wall outlet. · Insert new batteries as shown. 4 IB-CD1095(TA)-WM-E-123003 PLAYING A CD OPEN THE CD DOOR BY LIFTING HERE FUNCTION SWITCH (at the left side of the set) PLAY/PAUSE Connect the supplied AC power cord or batteries (see page 4). 1 2 S li de t he FUNCT I ON switch (at the left side of the set) to CD position, the POWER lamp will turn on . Lift the right corner of the CD DOOR to open it and pla c e a CD i n t he CD compartm ent . The label side of the CD should face upward. Close the CD DOOR by pus hing it d own. The display will show the total tracks of that CD. POWER lamp 3 4 Press the PLAY/PAUSE button. The PLAY/PAUSE lamp will be steadily on, the player will play all the tracks in order once. To Adjust the volume Stop playback Press or Adjust VOLUME control STOP PLAY/PAUSE The PLAY/PAUSE lamp will flash during pause. Press again t o resume play aft er pause. Pause playback Go to the next track Go back to the previous track Locate a point in a song FORWARDS BACKWARDS BACKWARDS FORWARDS or , Press and hold down while playing until you find the point. Insert your headphones (not i nc l ude d) p lug i nt o t he PHONES jack (at the left side of the set). Lift the right corner of the CD DOOR (press STOP first). This is normal for this type of player. To enjoy t he m u s ic without disturbing others Remove the CD Turn off the power 6 PLAYING CD TRACKS REPEATEDLY (REPEAT PLAY) You can play CD tracks over and over in normal or programmed play modes (see page 8). FUNCTION SWITCH (at the left side of the set) PLAY/PAUSE REPEAT BUTTON PROGRAM BUTTON BACKWARD FORWARD 1. Slide the FUNCTION switch (at the left side of the set) to the CD position. 2. Select the track by pressing SKIP/SEARCH BACKWARD or FORWARD , and then press . 3. Press the CD REPEAT button. To repeat a single track (song) Press P re s s t he RE P E AT but t on once, the REPEAT lamp will be flashing. Display shows PLAY/ PAUSE PROGRAM REPEAT P re s s t he RE P E AT but t on all the tracks (all songs) twice, the REPEAT lamp will be steadily on. During programmed play, press the REPEAT button twice, the REPEAT lamp will be steadily on and the PROGRAM lamp will be flashing. PLAY/ PAUSE PROGRAM REPEAT To change the current program Just create a new program following the programming procedure. To cancel Programmed Play Slide the FUNCTION switch to OFF position. 8 IB-CD1095(TA)-WM-E-123003 LISTENING TO THE RADIO FUNCTION SWITCH (at the left side of the set) TUNING CONTROL BAND SWITCH Connect the supplied AC power cord or batteries (see page 4). 1 Slide the FUNCTION switch (at the lef t side of t he s et) t o RA DI O position, the POWER lamp will turn on . 2 Slide the BAND switch (at the right side of the set) to the proper band position (AM or FM) that you want. 3 Tune into the station you prefer using the TUNING control.
