Do not defeat the safety purpose of the polarized or grounding-type plug. A polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. A grounding-type plug has two blades and a third grounding prong. The wide blade or the third prong is provided for your safety. ADDITIONAL SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS 1. Power Sources - The appliance should be connected to a power supply only of the type described in the operating instructions or as marked on the appliance. 2. Wall or Ceiling Mounting - The appliance should not be mounted to a wall or ceiling. 3. Object and Liquid Entry - Care should be taken so that objects do not fall and liquids are not spilled into the enclosure through openings. 4. Servicing - The user should not attempt to service the appliance beyond that described in the operating instructions. All other servicing should be referred to qualified service personnel. Do not apply oil or petroleum products or solvents to any part of this set. Use of controls or adjustments or performance of procedures other than those specified herein may result in hazardous radiation exposure. This compact disc player is classified as CLASS 1 LASER PRODUCT as stated on the bottom of the set. CAUTION 2 IB-CD208(LC)-WM-E-060403 BATTERY SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS CAUTION: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE OR PERSONAL INJURY OR DAMAGE TO YOUR SET, READ AND FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS. 1. Use only the type and size of batteries mentioned in the operating instructions booklet (batteries are not included with this set, please buy the proper batteries). 2. Do not dispose the batteries into a fire. The cells may explode. Check with local codes for possible special disposal instructions. 3. Do not open or mutilate the batteries. Released electrolyte is corrosive and may cause damage to the eyes or skin. It may be toxic if swallowed. 4. Be careful when handling batteries in order not to short the battery with conducting materials such as rings, bracelets and keys. The battery or conductor may over heat and cause burns. 5. Do not attempt to recharge non-rechargeable batteries. The batteries may leak corrosive electrolyte or explode. 6. Do not attempt to rejuvenate the batteries identified for use with this product by heating them. Sudden release of the battery electrolyte may cause burns or irritation to eyes or skin. 7. All batteries should be replaced at the same time. Mixing fresh and discharged batteries could increase internal cell pressure and rupture the batteries. 8. When inserting batteries into this product, the proper polarity ( and ) or direction must be observed. Reverse insertion of some or all of the batteries may result in battery electrolyte leakage or explosion. 9. Remove the batteries from this product if the product will not be used for a long period of time (several months or more) since during the period the batteries could leak, damaging the product. 10. Discard weak or dead batteries as soon as possible since they are more likely to leak in the product. Batteries should be replaced (depending on the product) when the display gets dim or if the Low Battery Indicator shows or if the sound gets distorted. 11. Do not store this product in high temperature areas. Batteries that are stored in a freezer or refrigerator for the purpose of extending shelf life should be protected from condensation during storage and defrosting. Batteries should be stabilized at room temperature prior to use after cold storage. 12. If this product does not operate normally, see TROUBLE SHOOTING in this instruction manual. If you cant resolve the problem, or if the product is damaged, refer to the LENOXX WARRANTY INFORMATION. Opening or removing covers may expose you to dangerous voltages or other risks. Incorrect reassembly can cause electric shock when the appliance is subsequently used. 13. If liquid leaks from the batteries, carefully wipe this liquid. Do not allow it to touch your skin, and discard the leaking batteries. 14. Do not mix batteries (OLD and NEW or CARBON and ALKALINE, etc.). 15. The use of rechargeable batteries is not recommended for this set because their voltage and life is lower than standard batteries. 16. Installation of batteries should be done by an adult only. SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS 3 IB-CD208(LC)-WM-E-060403 CHOOSING THE POWER SOURCES You can use the AC power or batteries as a power source. To a wall outlet BATTERY DOOR (on the bottom of the set) NOTE: The polarized plug has two blades with one wider than the other. TIP: If the discs do not play on batteries, this means Replace all the batteries with new ones when the POWER lamp dims or the player stops operating. Before you replace all the batteries, be sure to take out the disc from the player and remember to check the Battery Safety Instructions on Page 3. 1. Connecting the AC power Insert one end of the supplied AC power cord into the socket located at the rear of the set, and the other end into the 120V standard household outlet. 2. Using the player on batteries Remove the AC plug from the back of the set and wall outlet, then insert 6 size D batteries (not supplied) into the battery compartment as shown. Observe (+) and (-) polarities. the batteries are almost used up. But the radio may continue to play on these weak batteries because it uses less power than the disc player. Install Batteries as illustrated 4 IB-CD208(LC)-WM-E-060403 PLAYING A CD CD DOOR FUNCTION switch Connect the supplied AC power cord or batteries (refer to page 4). 1 Slide the FUNCTION switch to the MP3/CD position (power on), the POWER lamp will be on, and the symbol starts a new cycle in the display. Lift the CD DOOR to open it and push a CD down onto the center spindle. The label side of the CD disc should face upward. POWER lamp 2 3 Close the CD DOOR. The display will show the symbol , total tracks and total playing time of that CD, then the player will begin to play automatically. Track number currently playing TIP: 1. will show in the display if there is no CD disc in the CD compartment or if the CD disc is upside down. 2. will show in the display when the CD DOOR is opened. 5 IB-CD208(LC)-WM-E-060403 USE THESE BUTTONS FOR ADDITIONAL OPERATIONS PHONES jack FUNCTION switch VOLUME control STOP SKIP/SEARCH BACKWARD PLAY/ PAUSE SKIP/SEARCH FORWARD Open the CD DOOR by lifting here Track number 10+/ALBUM TIP To Adjust the volume Stop playback Press or Adjust VOLUME control STOP button Press PLAY/PAUSE, the track number currently playing will flash during pause. Press again to resume play after pause. SKIP/SEARCH FORWARD SKIP/SEARCH BACKWARD Press the 10+/ALBUM button. or Press and hold down while playing till you find the point. Press the STOP button first, then lift the CD DOOR. Slide the FUNCTION switch to the OFF position, the POWER lamp turns off. Insert your headphones (not included) plug them into the PHONES jack. IB-CD208(LC)-WM-E-060403 When the CD play is paused, the track number currently playing will flash and no music will play. To resume play, press the PLAY/ PAUSE button again, the track number will stop flashing and music will play. If you just started to play a disk, the music may stop or skip for a few seconds. If the music is playing for a few minutes and had time to load, the music will not skip. Pause playback Go to the next track Go back to the previous track Go to the next 10th track Locate a point in a song Remove the CD Turn off the power To enjoy the music without disturbing others 6 You may have repeat, intro and random play functions by pressing the REPEAT button. Press the REPEAT button several times, the display will show the followings in turn: REPEAT ONE REPEAT ALL INTRO RANDOM NORMAL PLAY CD REPEAT, INTRO AND RANDOM PLAY Single Track Repeat Plays one song over and over till you press STOP . Press the REPEAT button once, REPEAT ONE will show in the display. Select the song you want to repeat with either of the SKIP/SEARCH buttons ( or ), or 10+/ALBUM button. The song currently playing will repeat over and over until you press the STOP button. All Tracks Repeat (Disc Repeat) Repeats all songs in order till you press STOP. Press the REPEAT button twice, REPEAT ALL will show in the display. All the songs will keep playing in sequence 1, 2, 3, etc. and when finished, the player will start all over again until you press the STOP button. Intro Play This plays the first 10 seconds of each song in sequential order. Press the REPEAT button three times, INTRO will flash in the display. Press the PLAY button once, the first 10 seconds of each song on the CD will play in sequential order. When you find a song you like, press the PLAY button again, INTRO will not show in the display, normal play will be resumed, that song (and the following songs) will play normally. Random Play This plays the songs on the disc in random order. Press the REPEAT button four times, RANDOM will flash in the display. Press the PLAY button once, the player begins random play. Press the SKIP/SEARCH buttons ( to the next random song. or ) to skip To quit random play, press the REPEAT button once again, the player will play normally. 7 IB-CD208(LC)-WM-E-060403 CD PROGRAMMED PLAY You can make a program up to 20 tracks in the specified order you want them to be played. Programming Example Program Number Track Number (song number) 1 2 2 5 3 8 4 1 5 2 6 4 7 1 8 1 etc. etc. 1. Slide the FUNCTION switch to the MP3/CD position. Make sure the set is in the STOP mode. 2. Press the PROGRAM button once. The letters will flash in the display . 3. Press the SKIP/SEARCH buttons ( or ) or 10+/ALBUM button to select the tracks to be programmed in the order that you want. 4. Press the PROGRAM button to confirm. The programmed number 2 (example) will now show in the display, then ready for your next selecting of track. 5. Repeat above steps 3 and 4. You can program up to 20 tracks. 6. After programming is finished, press the PLAY button to start programmed play. NOTE: 1. Programming can only be done in STOP mode. 2. The programmed memory will be lost if the STOP button is pressed twice, or the alkaline batteries are exhau ...
