CAUTION RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK DO NOT OPEN To reduce the risk of electric shocks, do not remove the cover. No userserviceable parts inside the player. Refer all servicing to qualified personnel. This player uses a laser. Only a qualified service person should remove the cover or attempt to service the player, due to possible eye injury. Invisible laser radiation may occur when the player is opened or interlocks are by-passed. Avoid exposure to laser beam. Use of controls, adjustments or procedures other than those specified herein may result in hazardous radiation exposure. This player operates on 12V and PSU = 240V. If it is not to be used for a long time, the AC power cord should be unplugged. The player must not be exposed to moisture or rain. The player should not be exposed to dripping or splashing and objects containing liquids, such as vases, should never be placed on top of it. The power switch for the player is mounted on a secondary circuit and does not disconnect the whole player from the mains in OFF position. CLASS 1 LASER PRODUCT Please ensure all connections are properly made before operating. The player should be positioned so that it is properly ventilated. Avoid placing it, for example, close to curtains, on a carpet or inside a builtin fixture such as a bookcase. Openings for ventilation must not be blocked or covered during use. Do not expose the player to direct sunlight or heat sources. CAUTION This compact disc player is classified as a CLASS 1 LASER PRODUCT as stated on the back of the player. 1 IB-CD511(TA)-SW-E-091002 BATTERY SAFETY INSTRUCTIONS CAUTION: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF FIRE, PERSONAL INJURY OR DAMAGE TO THE PLAYER, PLEASE READ AND FOLLOW THESE INSTRUCTIONS. 1. Use only the type and size of batteries stated in the operating instructions booklet (Batteries are not included with the player. Please buy the correct batteries). 2. Do not dispose of the batteries by burning them as they may explode. Check with local regulations for any special instructions on the disposal of batteries. 3. Do not open or dismantle batteries. Do not recharge non-rechargeable batteries. 4. Be careful when handling batteries in order not to short-circuit them with conducting materials such as rings, bracelets and keys. The battery or conductor may overheat and cause burns. 5. Do not attempt to extend the life of batteries for use with this product by heating them. 6. All batteries should be replaced at the same time. Mixing old and new batteries could increase internal cell pressure and damage the batteries. 7. When inserting batteries into this product, the correct polarity ( or ) or direction must be observed. 8. Remove the batteries from the product if it is not to be used for a long period of time (several weeks or more). 9. Remove old or flat batteries as soon as possible as they are more likely to leak in the product. 1 0 . Do not store the product in high temperature areas. 11. Installation of batteries should only be done by an adult. PLEASE SAVE THESE INSTRUCTIONS 2 IB-CD511(TA)-SW-E-091002 CHOOSING A POWER SOURCE AC power or batteries may be used as a power source. AC SOCKET TIP Replace 1. Connecting the AC power cord Insert one end of the supplied AC power cord (located in the polyfoam) into the socket located at the back of the player, and the other end into a wall outlet. the batteries when the display dims or when the player stops operating. Replace all batteries with new ones. Before replacing batteries, make sure there is no CD in the player and remember to check the Battery Safety Instructions on Page 2. 2. Using battery power Insert 8 X LR20 (size D) batteries (not included) into the battery compartment. To use the player on batteries, disconnect the AC power cord from the player. UPPER LOW ER · If the CD does not play on batteries, this means the batteries are almost used up. But the radio may continue to play on these weak batteries because it uses less power than the CD player. VFD DISPLAY The VFD display only lights up when using AC power. 3 IB-CD511(TA)-SW-E-091002 ATTACHING THE SPEAKERS 1.Position one of the speakers to the right of the main unit. P R O G. 2. Align the tracks (rails) on the speaker with the main unit as shown in FIG. 1. FIG.1 3. When the speaker tracks (rails) are lined up, push the speaker into the tracks (rails) on the main unit as shown in FIG. 2. PROG . 4. Repeat steps 1 to 3 above for the left side. FIG.2 5.Carefully unwind the speaker wire from behind each speaker and insert the right plug into Speaker Jack R and the left plug into Speaker Jack L (as shown in FIG. 3). Wrap the remaining wire behind each speaker. LOCK TAB FIG.3 NOTE: This player can be used with the speakers either attached to the main unit or standing alone so long as both speaker plugs are plugged into the jacks. To detach the speakers, press the lock tab and push the speakers out of the tracks (rails). 4 IB-CD511(TA)-SW-E-091002 REMOTE CONTROL The CD PLAYER can be operated with the REMOTE CONTROL provided (includes the following controls: POWER ON/OFF, MUTE, VOLUME, CD REPEAT and PLAY). NOTE: When you use the REMOTE CONTROL to operate the CD PLAYER, make sure the POWER button on the main unit is turned on. Otherwise, the REMOTE CONTROL will not work. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9. Insert 2 X LR4 (size AAA) batteries (not included) correctly so that the + and - polarities match the polarity indicators inside the battery compartment. NOTE: When you press the POWER ON/OFF button to switch the player off, the VFD display will go out and the STANDBY indicator on the main unit will come on. NOTE: About half a year of normal operation can be expected when using alkaline When batteries. the batteries are worn out, the remote control will stop working. Replace both batteries with new ones. When the remote control is not to be used for a long time (2 months or more), the batteries should be removed to avoid possible damage that may be caused by battery leakage. Avoid keeping the remote control in extremely hot or humid locations. The remote control will operate at a distance of between about 0.2m (8 inches) and 6m (20 feet) from the remote sensor. 5 IB-CD511(TA)-SW-E-091002 "A A A " "A A A " PLAYING A CD 1 5 2 3 6 PROG. Connect the supplied AC power cord or batteries (see page 3). 1 2 3 CLOSE Press the POWER button for the VFD display and AUDIO LEVEL to come on. Slide the FUNCTION switch to the CD position. Two dashes, -- , will appear on the VFD display. Open the CD DOOR by pressing the bottom righthand corner of the CD door marked OPEN/CLOSE and place the CD in the CD compartment. The label side of the CD should face upward. Close the CD DOOR by pushing it down. The display will show the total number of tracks (songs) on that CD. Press the CD PLAY button. The player will play all the songs (tracks) once in order. To change the sound effect, adjust the BASS and TREBLE knobs as desired. O PE N C LO SE 4 5 6 TIP: WILL APPEAR IN THE DISPLAY IF THERE IS NO DISC IN THE CD COMPARTMENT OR IF THE DISC IS UPSIDE DOWN. 6 IB-CD511(TA)-SW-E-091002 USE THESE BUTTONS FOR ADDITIONAL OPERATIONS VOLUME CONTROL TIP The AUDIO LEVEL will light up when the power is on and the pointer will indicate any changes in audio levels. PROG. TIP When CD play is paused, will flash and the CD will stop playing. FUNCTION SWITCH To Adjust the volume To resume play, press the PAUSE button again, will stop flashing and the CD will play. Stop playback Press or Adjust VOLUME control STOP PLAY/PAUSE will flash when a CD is in pause mode. Press again to resume play. Pause playback TIP If the player or the table it is sitting on is knocked while a CD is playing, the CD will stop or skip for a few seconds. This is normal for this type of player. Go to the next track Go back to the previous track FORWARD BACKWARD or Press and hold down while playing until you find the point. Press the bottom righthand corner of the CD DOOR marked OPEN/CLOSE (press STOP first). Press the POWER button and the display will go off. Press the MUTE button on the REMOTE CONTROL. IB-CD511(TA)-SW-E-091002 Locate a point in a song TIP This set has an electronic volume control. The volume can be raised or lowered by pressing the VOLUME UP or DOWN button. (NOTE: To use this feature, you need to operate the set with the REMOTE CONTROL, because there is no REPEAT button on the main unit.) POWER BUTTON FUNCTION SWITCH REPEAT 1. 2. 3. 4. Press the POWER button for the display to light up. Set the FUNCTION switch to the CD position. Select the track by pressing or , and then press Press the CD REPEAT button on the REMOTE CONTROL. . PROGRAMME NOTE: Programming is only done during STOP mode. 1 2 3 4 5 During STOP mode, press the PROGRAMME button. and PRG. will flash in the display. Press the SKIP/SEARCH , until the buttons, or desired track shows in the display. Press the PROGRAMME button. and PRG. will flash in the display. Repeat steps 2 and 3 until all the desired tracks are programmed. Press the PLAY button to start programmed play. , PRG. and the track number being played will show in the display. To change the current programme Simply create a new programme by following the programing procedure. To cancel Programmed Play Press the STOP button twice and PRG. will disappear from the display. 9 IB-CD511(TA)-SW-E-091002 LISTENING TO THE RADIO 324 1 3 PROG. 6 Connect the supplied AC power cord or batteries (see page 3). 1 2 3 MW FM Press the POWER button for the VFD display and the AUDIO LEVEL to come on. Set the FUNCTION switch to the RADIO position. Set the BAND switch to the proper band position (MW or FM), and the FM MODE switch to STEREO or MONO. 4 5 6 Tune into the station of your choice using the TUNING control. Adjust for the clearest sound. FM ST. will appear in the VFD display when receiving FM Stereo broadcasts.
