1. INTRODUCTION
Thank you for purchasing the CR000GB ELECTRONIC CROSSWORD & SUDOKU. Please read this manual carefully to ensure you understand the operation and keep it for future reference. Important Safety Instructions · Please read the user manual completely before operating this unit. · Avoid dropping the product. · Do not use product near water. · Do not immerse in water or any other liquid. · Avoid storing in damp and hot conditions. · Avoid using cleaning agents that contain alcohol, ammoniac, benzene or abrasives, as these could cause damage. · Clean only with a moistened cloth. · Do not expose to direct heat sources, keep it away from direct sunlight, naked flames, heaters, or other apparatus that produces heat. · Do not attempt to disassemble the product. · Refer all servicing to qualified service personnel.

3. GETTING STARTED
3.1 Batteries The CR000GB uses x AAA batteries (included). a. Open the battery compartment with a screwdriver. b. Insert the batteries according to the polarity (+/- signs). c. Replace the battery door. 3.2 Static label Remove the static label from the LCD screen. 3.3 On/Off function Press the ON/OFF button to switch the unit on. The first time "SUDOKU GAME LEVEL 1 INITIALISING" is displayed onscreen. The next time you switch on you will return to the game you played when the unit switched off. Note: if the display does not illuminate, please refer to section . "Contrast control". Press the ON/OFF button again to switch it off. 3.4 Auto Power off function Auto power off will be activated after minutes if no key is pressed. Press the ON/OFF key again to restart the unit. Note: Your current crossword or Sudoku puzzle will be saved if the unit is turned off. 3.5 Contrast control To adjust the contrast display, press SHIFT and the CURSOR PAD up or down keys. 4. SUDOKU SECTION
Basic operation 1. Press SHIFT + GAME TOGGLE [U] to toggle between the Sudoku game and the Crossword game. When "TOGGLE TO SUDOKU? Y/N" is displayed, press Y (yes). If you switch to Sudoku your current Crossword game is saved. . Select a game level: Beginner - press [Shift + I] to select level 1. Intermediate - press [Shift + O] to select level . Advanced - press [Shift + P] to select level . 3. Press Y to confirm your level selection. Wait for this game to be built which may take several seconds. Then, a Sudoku grid will appear on the screen. The top left hand square will be flashing. This is the CURSOR. Use the cursor pad to move the cursor in the direction of the arrow. 4. The aim of Sudoku is to fill in the grid so that every row, every column, and every x square contains the digits 1 through 9. Each digit can only appear once in a row, column or square. The digits already provided in the grid cannot be changed; they are marked by an icon in the lower right corner of a cell. You have to work around them. Every puzzle has just one correct solution.

. When you know which number goes into an empty cell, use the cursor pad to move the blinking cursor to that cell. Enter your answer using the number key pad (letters R to N). . Once you have completed the grid, press SHIFT + CHECK [C]. If you were successful, "GAME COMPLETED" will be displayed onscreen. Otherwise, "SOLUTION INCORRECT" will be displayed. You need to find where you made a mistake; the unit will not point out the mistakes. Edit Place the cursor on the digit you wish to delete, and press one of the following `arrow' keys or in the corresponding direction. Alternatively, press SHIFT + DEL [Z] key. Reset If you wish to reset the current grid, press SHIFT + RESET [A]. The display will then ask you "RESET GAME Y/N". Press `Y' on the keyboard. Pause The Sudoku puzzles are timed. To pause the game, press SHIFT + PAUSE [X]. Press SHIFT + PAUSE again to continue. New game If you wish to start a new game at any time, press SHIFT and the level 1, or keys. The display will then ask you `NEW GAME LEVEL Y/N'. Press `Y' on the keyboard to start a new game. 7

Score To view the top scores (best time), press SHIFT + SCORE [S]. Your best score will be displayed in seconds under "BEST TIME". Your current time in seconds will be displayed under "TIME". Solution 1. You can reveal up to digits in a Sudoku grid. Place the cursor in the position that you require the digit and press SHIFT + NUMBER [E]. This will insert the correct digit. The unit will display the number of hints left after you use the hint function. . If you want to display the correct solution to the whole grid, press SHIFT + TOTAL [Q]. 3. The display will then ask you "REVEAL ALL Y/N". Press `Y' on the keyboard to display the correct solution. Clue Press CLUE and the unit will reveal all possible numbers that can fit into the selected position. For the clues the unit only takes into account the digits that were initially given by the game, not those filled in by the player.

5. CROSSWORD SECTION
Basic operation 1. Press SHIFT + GAME TOGGLE [U] to toggle between Sudoku and Crossword. When "TOGGLE TO CROSSWORD? Y/N" is displayed, press Y (yes). If you switch to Crossword your current Sudoku game is saved. . Select a game level: Beginner - press [Shift + I] to select level 1. Intermediate - press [Shift + O] to select level . Advanced - press [Shift + P] to select level . 3. Press Y to confirm your level selection. Wait for this game to be built which may take several seconds. Then, a crossword grid will appear onscreen. The top left hand square will be flashing. This is the CURSOR. Use the cursor pad to move the cursor in the direction of the arrow. . Place the cursor where you wish to enter your answer and press the CLUE button (?) to reveal the clue for that word. If the cursor is flashing on a junction of two words, then both clues will appear on the screen. The ACROSS clue will appear at the top of the screen and the DOWN clue will appear at the bottom of the screen. The number in brackets behind the clue words indicates the lengths in letters of the answer word.

. Press the CLUE button again to return to the Crossword and simply type in the answer using the letter keyboard. . If you enter an answer at the `junction' of two words, after entering the first letter, two small arrows will appear in adjacent squares. The Crossword is asking you which clue you are answering, across or down. Press the cursor pad down or right once, to indicate which way you are going. You can then continue typing your answer in the normal way. 7. When you have completed a Crossword, the screen will display `GAME COMPLETED'. 8. If you think you have finished the Crossword but the screen does not display `GAME COMPLETED', press SHIFT + CHECK [C]. This will indicate any errors in your Crossword by showing the symbol in the position where all the incorrect letters are. You can press the CHECK key at anytime during game play. Reset If you wish to reset the current grid, press SHIFT + RESET [A]. The display will then ask you "RESET GAME Y/N". Press `Y' on the keyboard. New game If you wish to start a new game at any time, press SHIFT and the level 1, or keys. The display will then ask you `NEW GAME LEVEL Y/N'. Press `Y' on the keyboard to commence a new game.

Edit To erase any entry from the Crossword, letter by letter, you should place the cursor on the letter you wish to erase and press one of the following `arrow' keys or in the corresponding direction. Alternatively, to erase an entire word, place the cursor on any letter of the incorrect word and press SHIFT + DELETE [Z]. Hint and Solution Single letter: Place the cursor in the position that you require the letter and press SHIFT +LETTER [E]. This will insert the correct letter. Word finder: Place the cursor on any letter or space within that word and press SHIFT +WORD [W]. This will insert the complete correct word. Complete solution: Place the cursor in any position in the Crossword and press SHIFT + TOTAL [Q] to reveal the answers to the entire Crossword.

6. CHANGING BATTERIES
CR000GB works with x AAA batteries (included). When the LCD screen becomes dim, it is time to change the batteries. When removing batteries, any current game will be lost. 1. Turn off the unit. . Open the battery compartment with a screwdriver. Remove the old batteries and insert new AAA batteries according to the polarity (+/signs). . Replace the battery door. Caution: If the unit receives an electrostatic shock and stops working, use the tip of a paper clip to push the RESET button located at the back of the unit. If this proves to be ineffective, remove the batteries and insert them again. All data will be lost.

To make use of the warranty or after-sales service, please contact your retailer and supply proof of purchase, or return the unit the address given below complete with proof of purchase.
