MOUNTING THE BATTERY
Warning: For use with Lithium Ion batteries ONLY. DO NOT use with Nickel Cadmium (NiCd) or Nickel Metal Hydride (NiMH) batteries. Align the contacts on your battery with the appropriate contacts on the charger. Follow the guides on your battery and the charger to slide the battery into place in the charging bay (E). For some battery models, you will either press the battery down and then slide it up (away from the indicator light panel), or you will slide the battery up and then press it down (see figures 3a and 3b). Either way, the battery should slide easily into place - if it does not, do not force the battery into place; simply realign the guides and try again.

USING THE UNIVERSAL ADAPTER PLATE Some battery models will require the use of the Universal Adapter Plate (F). To install, slide the central notch on the Adaptor Plate's upper edge into the slot on the upper edge of the charging bay (E), then press down on the Plate's lower edge - the Plate will snap firmly in place (see figures 4a and 4b). To remove the Plate, pull down on the Battery/Adaptor Plate Latch (D).

Before installing the battery onto the plate, check the polarity signs (+ and -) on the battery. Locate the alignment guide and polarity positions on the Universal Adapter Plate (F) for the battery you are going to charge. Pull the sliding grip at the lower side of the plate out. Install the battery so the contacts meet the contacts on the adaptor plate, while aligning the side of the battery to one of the alignment guides on the Universal Adapter Plate. Release the sliding grip gently and the battery will be securely held in place. Follow the instructions on the Universal Adapter Plate for various alignment guides and contact positions (see figures 5 to 10) Note: Make sure the battery + and - contacts align properly with the + and - contacts on the adapter plate, reversing the polarity may cause damage to the battery pack or the charger.

CHARGING THE BATTERY As soon as the battery is properly connected, charging begins, as indicated by the green blinking light of the Charge Status Indicator (B). When charging is complete, the Charge Status Indicator stops flashing and remains solid green. At this point, the battery can be removed for use. It is recommended, however, that you leave the battery connected to the DC 3000 for another 30 minutes to ensure a full, or "topped off", charge. DEFECTIVE BATTERY DETECTION The charger has built-in defective battery detection sensors. If the battery does not attain a full charge within 8 hours, is overcharged or if it is fully discharged, the Power and Charge Status Indicators will flash.
