Getting Started
This chapter introduces you to the external components of your Pocket PC and guides you through the process of setting up your Pocket PC for use.
NTOE: Depending on the model you purchased, the cabinet color and the look of the accessories may be different from the ones shown in this manual.

Component Touch Screen Program Buttons
Description Displays the output of your Pocket PC. Tap the screen with the stylus to select menu commands or enter information. Each of the buttons provides a quick way to use a program or function. The buttons are customizable. The icons on the buttons indicate the default functions: Opens the MioMap program when the program is installed. Opens the Today screen if MioMap is not installed. Opens the Contacts program. Moves up, down, left or right by pushing the stick toward the corresponding direction. Selects by pressing.

Component Car Antenna Connector
Description This connector (under rubber dust cover) allows use of an optional external antenna with magnetic mount, which may be positioned on top of the car for better signal reception in areas with poor reception. Sends out music, sounds and voice. Tap on the touch screen to make selections and enter information.

Description Accepts an SD (Secure Digital), SDHC (Secure Digital High Capacity) or MMC (MultiMediaCard) card.

Component Hand String Hole Power Button Power/Notification Indicator
Description Hand string attaches to this hole. Turns your Pocket PC on or off by pressing briefly. Glows in amber to indicate that battery charging is in progress. Flashes in amber to inform you of scheduled appointments, alarms and reminders. Glows in green to indicate that the battery is fully charged.

Component Microphone Mini-USB Connector Headphone Connector ON/OFF Switch
Description Receives sound and voice to record voice. Connects to the charger or USB cable. Connects to a pair of stereo headphones. The main power/battery cutoff switch. NOTE: Do not slide the ON/OFF switch back and forth rapidly and repeatedly. Doing so will cause the system to hang up.

1.2 Getting Your Device Ready for Use
Performing Initial Startup
Initial startup includes setting the ON/OFF switch and completing the setup wizard. 1. Slide the ON/OFF switch to the ON position.
CAUTION: Always leave the ON/OFF switch in the ON position for normal operation.
2. Your device will automatically turn on. Charge the battery as described in the next sub-section. 3. Wait for a few seconds until the startup screen appears. Follow ...
