Removal of the cover will void warranty. There are no user serviceable parts inside. To reduce risk of fire or shock hazard, do not expose this player to rain or moisture. Unplug your MovieBeam player from the wall by pulling on the plug, not the cord and unplug the telephone cord if any of the following circumstances are present: · The power cord or plug becomes damaged in any way · Your MovieBeam player is exposed to rain or excess moisture · Your MovieBeam player has, or you suspect has, sustained damage · Your MovieBeam player requires repairs or service Electrical Safety Advisory Notice ­ it is recommended that any AC-powered device uses an AC surge suppressor in the AC outlet from which the equipment is powered. To prevent damage, lengthen the life of your MovieBeam components, avoid personal injury and get the most from your movie-watching experience, be sure to heed all warnings and follow instructions in this User Guide. 4 · Keep this User Guide where you can refer to it, if necessary. · Do not disassemble, attempt to repair, service, or modify the player, antenna or remote in any way. If the player, antenna or remote needs service, call Customer Care at l-866-865-l500. · Do not expose the player to liquids or moisture or use it near water. Clean only with a dry cloth. · Use only the power supply included with your MovieBeam player. · Do not block the unit's ventilation openings including those on the bottom of the unit as this could impair performance or damage the player and other components. · Keep the player away from any heat sources such as radiators, heat registers, stoves or other apparatus (including amplifiers) that produce heat. · Avoid pinching, crushing or damaging the power cord. If the power cord is damaged, return it for replacement. · Keep all cords and cables away from children and pets. · Your player is equipped with a grounding-type plug with two blades and a third grounding plug. The third plug is provided for your safety. With the MovieBeam player, you can choose from l00 movies viewable at your convenience. Because movies are sent directly to your home using a digital over-the-air signal, all you have to do is "choose and watch"...no more trips to the video store. The MovieBeam player is delivered to you with l00 movies ready to watch -- New Releases and Popular Pics from virtually every major Hollywood studio, digitally stored on the player. Every week, up to l0 movies will be replaced with new ones. MovieBeam gives you numerous ways to find the movies you want to watch. As you watch a film, you can Pause, Fast-Forward and Rewind, just like you would with a DVD. You can watch a movie as often as you like during the 4-hour rental period. Parental Controls allow you to set Spending Limits and Rating Limits. What's in the Package MovieBeam player Digitally stores, updates and plays movies. MovieBeam Antenna & Stand Receives MovieBeam's patented digital over-the-air signal. Antenna Cable Connects the antenna to the MovieBeam player. MovieBeam Remote & Batteries Allows you to operate your MovieBeam player from a distance. Power Cord (2 pieces) Connects power to the MovieBeam player. 3 Composite Cable Provides three connectors: yellow for video, white and red for audio. Component Video Cable Provides three connectors: red, green and blue for video. Phone Cord Connects a phone wall jack to the phone jack on the player. Phone Line Splitter Allows the MovieBeam player to share your telephone jack with another device or telephone. 4 MovieBeam Player Rear Panel 5 Connections by Video Quality The MovieBeam player offers video and audio compatibility with virtually every TV and home theater system. To ensure you select the highest quality picture, refer to the chart below and find the video inputs on your TV that match the video outputs from your MovieBeam player. If you require a cable not included in your MovieBeam package, you can purchase one from your local electronics retailer or call MovieBeam Customer Care at l-866-865-l500. GOOD Composite S-Video BETTER Component BEST HDMI 6 7 2 Beginning Set-Up This section covers connecting the antenna, phone line, basic & enhanced video and audio connections. 8 Remote Control Inserting Batteries Remove the battery cover from the back of the remote and locate the two AAA batteries provided in the box. Match the + and ­ marks on the batteries to the + and ­ marks in the battery case and insert the batteries into the remote. Close the case. You'll use the remote to navigate MovieBeam and complete the set-up process. Connecting the MovieBeam Antenna CAUTION: To avoid serious damage, do not connect your MovieBeam player to any antenna other than the one provided and do not connect the MovieBeam antenna to any equipment other than your MovieBeam player. First, plug the antenna stand into the antenna by pushing the stand into place. Then, plug the antenna cable into the antenna connector on the back of the MovieBeam player labeled Antenna and into the jack on the back of the antenna. The cable only fits in one direction. To connect the antenna to the player, simply push the connector into place. Be sure to align the center pin with the hole in the jack before pressing it in. Antenna MovieBeam Player IN OUT 9 Connecting the Phone Cord NOTE: If you have DSL, you must have a DSL filter on your phone line. If you are already using the phone line splitter, install the DSL filter between the wall jack and splitter. If you are experiencing any difficulties with this step, call MovieBeam Customer Care at l-866-865-l500. The MovieBeam player requires a land-based phone line connection to allow communication of billing information. The MovieBeam player will call out periodically in the middle of the night, just a few times each month. The calls are toll-free, so there is no cost to you. MovieBeam will not interfere with your phone service. MovieBeam automatically disconnects from calling in if a phone is picked up during the process. Connect one end of the phone cord to the phone jack on the back of the MovieBeam player and the other end to a phone wall jack. If the wall jack is being used, plug the phone line splitter into the wall jack, then connect both phone lines into it. The phone line splitter will not interfere with your phone. Use of the splitter is optional. Your system is shipped with a 5-foot phone cord. If this phone cord is not long enough, you can purchase a longer cord from most consumer electronics retailers or call MovieBeam Customer Care at l-866-865-l500.
