HDD Formatting Caution After the HDD formatting, be sure to connect the device to PC (with PVR Console installed) to restore system data and bootup files. Otherwise, it may not function properly. III Battery Charge Please charge the battery for a minimum of 3.5 hours before initial use. 1. Plug one end of the power adapter to the DC IN jack of the PVR and the other end to the appropriate wall plug. 2. The red recharge indicator will light up. 3. When the battery is fully charged, the indicator light will turn off. IV Date and Time Set Up To display the correct date and time, please do the following: 1. Select Calendar in the main menu. 2. Stand Set Up the Stand Turn over the PVR Attach the stand to the back of PVR Pull down the stand and fasten tight 3 Software Installation The bundled CD contains many useful PVR tools. Follow the instructions below to complete the installation. 1. Insert the Installation CD into CD-ROM. The Select Lan- guage dialog box appears. 2. Select your preferred language and click " OK" to continue. 3. A Welcome dialog box appears. Click " Next". 4. The Select Components dialog box appears. Click and select the software you want to install and then click "Next". 5. The Select Program Folder dialog box appears. You can 4 change the folder name listed in the text box, or simply click "Next" to continue. 6. The Start Copying Files dialog box appears confirming that the listed software will be installed. Click "Next" to continue. ENGLISH 7. Follow the on-screen instructions to continue and complete the installation. 8. When the installation is complete, the icon will be displayed on the Windows' taskbar. 5 Connecting to PC Converting and Transferring Files 1. Power on the PVR and connect it to the computer with the provided USB cable. 2. A mode switch screen appears. Then PVR Console (Refer to Page 10 for more information) appears. 6 3. Click on the icon to open File Converter application. The following appears. Select Media Type Browse File Type Selection Browse Delete Create Folder Delete Convert ENGLISH Convert Settings Exit 4.1 Select the input source from Media Type menu. File Converter will then search your CD-ROM for video CD or Audio CD (MP3 CD will not display any files). OR 4.2 You can press Browse button on the left side to select the path where your files reside. 7 5. Press the button to select the image size or video quality if you want to convert image/video files. 6. Press the Browse button on the right side to select the path where your temporary files will reside before uploading to PVR. 7. Select the folder (or root directory) from Destination field where your files will upload to or press create one. Note: The File Converter will search for the removable disk and display the connected device in the Destination field. Convert button. The conversion starts. To stop, button. button to exit. button to 8. Press press 9. When the conversion is done, press 8 Note1: The File Converter will not convert an AUDIO CD into WMA format in Windows 98 SE/Me. AUDIO CD convertion is available in Windows 2000/XP . Note2: Use only File Converter to convert and transfer video files to PVR. The source video can come from a variety of different sources and in a number of different formats. However File Converter does not support all video formats or codecs. Note3: Before using File Converter, you have to download and install "Windows Media Encoder 7.1" from Microsoft's website. Otherwise, all the supported media formats (see the list below) will fail to convert in Window98 SE/ 2000. Calls up Microsoft's Disk Checkup and Disk Defragmenter programs for system diagnosis and rearrangement. C. Calendar to Go Synchronizes the calendar and event data between PC (from Outlook2000/2002/2003 or e-Life Pal) and PVR. D. Personal Style Edits Startup Screen and Sound Effect for PVR. E. MAX Console Calls up Max Console software for image editing and retouching. Note: In order for the above tools to function properly, please download and install Media Player 9 from Microsoft's website. 10 BASIC FUNCTIONS Photo Playback PHOTO PLAYER ENGLISH Select PHOTO PLAYER in the Main Menu and press OK button to enter. Multiple Photo View (Default): Now you will see photo thumbnails are displayed. Single Photo View: To view a single photo,press / / / buttons to select and press button to display. 11 PHOTO PLAYER Zoom Select PHOTO PLAYER in the Main Menu and press OK button to enter. Press / // a photo and press buttons to select button to view. To zoom in on the selected photo, press button. The selected photo will be magnified by 2X. To magnify more, press button again. 12 PHOTO PLAYER Record Message to a Photo ENGLISH Select PHOTO PLAYER in the Main Menu and press OK button to enter. Press / / / buttons to select a photo you want to attach a voice message to and press REC button. The screen on the left appears. Simply press button to start recording. You may press button to start recording with the new setting. 13 PHOTO PLAYER Playback/Delete Message Attached to Photo Select PHOTO PLAYER in the Main Menu and press OK button to enter. Select photo with a voice message attached. Press MENU button and scroll icon. Press down to select to enter PLAY VOICE. button Play Voice: Press button twice to start playing. To play more voice messages, scroll up to icon and then press / buttons to select. To start playing, scroll down to and press button. 14 PHOTO PLAYER Delete Voice Message: Scroll down to select DEL VOICE and press button twice to delete the voice message. To delete more voice messages, scroll up to icon and press / buttons to select. Scroll down to button to delete. and press ENGLISH When the voice message is deleted, the icon will be removed from the photo. 15 PHOTO PLAYER Slide Show Playback Select PHOTO PLAYER in the Main Menu and press OK button to enter. VIDEO PLAYER Set Up Start Time The video length will show on the screen. Press button and then press the / buttons to set up HOUR. Press button and then press / buttons to set up MINUTE. Press button and then press / buttons to set up SECOND. Press button to confirm and then press button again to start playing with the new setting. ENGLISH 21 AUDIO PLAYER Audio Playback Select AUDIO PLAYER in the Main Menu and press OK button to enter. Press / buttons to select an audio file and press button to play. To stop, press button. Tip: If the audio file you want to play resides in a folder under the current AUDIO directory, press / buttons to highlight the folder, and then press button to enter. Note: To save power, you may turn off the LCD display by pressing button on the PVR. 22 Note: To turn off the power during audio playing, first press the STOP button to end the operation and then press the power button to turn it off. AUDIO PLAYER Record Audio Select AUDIO PLAYER in the Main Menu and press OK button to enter. Press REC button. The screen on the left appears. Press button or REC button to start recording. Tip: If the MP3/WMA file you want to play resides in the folder under the current MUSIC directory press , / to highlight the folder, and then press button to enter. Note: To save power, you may turn off the LCD display by pressing button on the PVR. 28 Note: To turn off the power during music playing, first press the STOP button to end the operation and then press the power button to turn it off. MUSIC PLAYER Music Alarm ENGLISH Select MUSIC PLAYER in the Main Menu and press OK button to enter. Press / buttons to select the file (*.wma or *.mp3) you want to set as the ring sound of the music alarm. Press MENU button and scroll down to select icon. The screen on the left appears. Press button to enable the function. Time Set Up button and then press Press to set the time. button Note: Audio Player also provides Alarm (Voice Alarm) function. The operation procedure is very similiar to this one. You can choose either to set alarm in Audio Player or in Music Player. Connect one end (black plug) of the provided AV cable to the AV IN jack of PVR. 2. Connect the other end (3-strip, audio & video connectors) to the corresponding TV OUT ports of your TV . 3. Power on the TV and PVR. 31 AV CENTER Set Up TV System Select SETUP MENU in the Main Menu and press OK button to enter. Press button to scroll to DISPLAY page and scroll down to select TV SYSTEM. Press / buttons to select proper TV system and press MODE button to return to the Main Menu. Start Recording Select AV CENTER in the Main Menu and REC press OK button to enter. Press button and then press button or REC button to start recording. To stop, press or REC button. Tip: You can set up the video quality and the length of the recording time before hand. Connect one end (black plug) of the provided AV cable to the AV IN jack of PVR. 2. Connect the other end to (3-strip) to the corresponding VIDEO and AUDIO output ports of the DVD player. 3. Power on the DVD player and PVR. 34 AV CENTER Set Up TV System Select SETUP MENU in the Main Menu and press OK button to enter. Press button to scroll to DISPLAY page and scroll down to select TV SYSTEM. Press / buttons to select a proper TV system and press MODE button to return to the Main Menu. Strat Recording Select AV CENTER in the Main Menu and press OK button to enter. Press the PLAY button on the DVD player. Meanwhile press REC button on the PVR and then press button or REC button to start recording. To stop, press or REC button. Tip: To set up the video quality and the length of the recording time, refer to the related discription on Page 33. ENGLISH 35 AV CENTER Timer Record Enter AV Center. Press MENU button and press button twice to enable timer recording and enter setting. Set Up Quality Press button to enter QUALITY TIMER RECORD / buttons to select a setting. Note: In case of insufficient power supply, connect the power adapter during timer recording. 37 FILE BROWSER Select FILE BROWSER in the Main Menu and press OK button to enter. Note: The file format which is incompatible with PVR will not be displayed in the File Browser. 38 FILE BROWSER Sort Use the File Browser tool to organize the large collection of media in your PVR. Enter FILE BROWSER. Press MENU button and scroll down to select icon. Press button to highlight BY TYPE and press button to confirm. The files will be sorted by type accordingly. Instead of sorting files by TYPE, you may select to arrange BY NAME or BY SELECTED. Simply highlight BY NAME or BY SELECTED and press button to confirm. The files will be arranged based on your selection. ENGLISH 39 FILE BROWSER Rename To change the file name in the PVR, you will need this useful tool to help. / Enter FILE BROWSER.
