Quick Start
Follow steps
through
to position the SDM pod and go for a run.

Remove the SDM Pod from holder.

Loosen shoe laces and slide yellow clip up under laces.

Secure the SDM Pod with black strap. The SDM Pod should rest just below where laces tie and be secure enough to not move while running.

Turn SDM Pod ON. Light will begin to blink. Press and hold power button to turn SDM Pod off.

Start RUN No Mileage Displayed Before you begin to run you should see the shoe icon in the display. The icon signals that the pod and watch are transmitting correctly. If the icon is not visible make sure the pod is turned on or see page 18 Troubleshooting ID SENSOR If your watch displays "ID sensor" you will need to enable the watch to recognize your SDM pod. See page 19 ID Sensor MILEAGE

Calibrating the Speed Distance Monitor [ SDM] Pod
Once calibrated, your SDM Pod is over 97% accurate. Calibrate you SDM Pod by running 400-800 meters on a marked track, then adjust the watch to exact distance. You will need to calibrate the SDM Pod each time you replace the battery or the watch is reset by pressing and holding all four buttons at the same time ( see page 18 Watch display is frozen). Follow steps through to automatically calibrate your SDM Pod.

Run at your usual pace on the inside lane. Complete 1-2 laps (400-800 meters).

Adjusting your Offset
After you calibrate the SDM Pod an Offset number is automatically input to the watch. The default Offset number is 1.000. You can view your adjusted Offset number by following steps through . Write down and save your Offset number. Enter the number after you change your SDM Pod battery or the watch battery to avoid going to a track to recalibrate. Note: Variations in pod placement and different shoe models will affect the accuracy of your SDM Pod. To make small adjustments to the calibration, use the manual Offset. For example, if the SDM is slightly under measuring distance increase the Offset number. Follow steps through to fine tune the Offset.

1.010 = 101% of Factory calibration You run 400m. The SDM measurement at the end of the run was 392m (5%under). The Offset factor would be 1.050 (5% adjustment).

Setting a Pace Zone
The speed at which your run or walk is your pace. Pace is measured in minutes per mile or kilometer. Setting pace zones allows you to train within a fast or slow pace limit. With the pace zone turned "on", the watch will display HI and LO arrows to indicate you are running outside of your zone. With the zone alarm turned "on", the watch will beep to indicate you are outside of your pace zone. Follow steps through to set a target pace zone.

View Graph of Pace vs Time
In GRAPH mode you can view a bar chart of Pace vs Time. Once the SDM Pod is turned on, GRAPH mode will begin plotting your pace against your time based on a selected interval. Follow steps through to set the sampling interval.

Using the Chronograph
In Chronograph mode, you can mark lap times and total times during your run. Both lap times and total times are captured simultaneously when you press the lap button. After you stop the chronograph, your run information is automatically saved in DATA mode. See page 14 for DATA mode. Follow steps through to use your chronograph.
Mark Laps Lap time is the time required to go once around a track, or complete a segment of a run.

Setting the Chronograph Auto-Lap
The Chronograph contains an Auto-Lap feature. You can set a distance at which the watch will automatically mark a lap. You cannot manually mark laps when Auto-Lap is activated. Follow steps through to setup the Auto-Lap feature.

Changing the Chronograph Display
You can choose between four different display setups for your Chronograph. You can select Lap times, Split times, Distance or Pace for your primary display and Lap, Split or Distance for the two secondary fields. Follow steps through to customize your Chronograph display.

Review Stored Runs
In DATA mode you can review stored run information including total distance, total time, maximum / average pace, best / average lap. and detailed lap information. The memory can store up to 100 laps and multiple runs. Follow steps through to view data stored for your runs.

Setting Training Intervals
TIMER mode features a 5 segment countdown timer. You can use this as an interval training tool by exercising at a higher intensity for a certain period of time, followed by a recovery interval at a lower intensity level. You can set up to 5 timed segments for your workout. As each segment is completed, the next begins. All segments will continue to repeat until the timer is stopped. Follow steps through to set your training intervals.

Example: In this example Segment 1 is set at 00:03:30, Segment 2 is set at a 00:00:45 rest interval, Segment 3 is set at 00:02:00 and Segment 4 is a 00:00:30 rest interval. Segment 5 is left at 00:00:00 so it will not be part of the workout. Segment 1 will begin as soon as Segment 4 completes. The cycle will repeat until the timer is stopped.

Setting Audible Alarms
In ALARM mode you can set 2 alarms. Press any button to stop the audible alarm. The alarm will automatically stop after 20 seconds. Follow steps through to set either alarm.
