ROAD SAFETY COMES FIRST Don't use a hand-held phone while driving; park the vehicle first. INTERFERENCE All wireless phones may get interference which could affect performance. SWITCH OFF IN HOSPITALS Follow any regulations or rules. Switch the phone off near medical equipment. SWITCH OFF IN AIRCRAFT Wireless phones can cause interference. Using them on aircraft is illegal. SWITCH OFF WHEN REFUELLING Don't use phone at a refuelling point. Don't use near fuel or chemicals. SWITCH OFF NEAR BLASTING Don't use phone where blasting is in progress. Observe restrictions, and follow any regulations or rules. USE SENSIBLY Use only in normal position (to ear). Don't touch the antenna unnecessarily. USE QUALIFIED SERVICE Only qualified service personnel must install or repair equipment. ACCESSORIES AND BATTERIES Use only approved accessories and batteries. Enter the phone number, including the area code, then press . To end a call press . To answer a call press . EMERGENCY CALLS Ensure that the phone is switched on and in service. Make sure the phone is ready for a new call. (If you are in a menu/ submenu, clear the display and return the phone to the standby mode.) Enter the emergency number, then press . Give your location. Do not end the call until told to do so. Using this guide The wireless phone described in this guide is approved for use in a NMT 450 network. A number of features included in this guide are called Network Services. They are special services provided by wireless service providers. Before you can take advantage of any of these Network Services, you must subscribe to these service(s) from your home service provider and obtain instructions for their use. Warning! Use only batteries, charger and accessories approved by the phone manufacturer for use with this particular phone model. The use of any other types will invalidate any approval or warranty applying to the phone, and may be dangerous. For availability of approved accessories, please check with your dealer. When you disconnect the power cord of any accessory, grasp and pull the plug, not the cord. · This apparatus is intended for use when supplied with power from ACP-7, ACP-9, LCH-9, HFU-2. All Rights Reserved. 7 Quick start Before you can make a first phone call with your new Nokia 650 phone: 1 Attach the battery to your phone. 2 Charge the battery. · Note: A new NiMH battery must be charged for at least 16 hours before you can use your phone. 3 To switch the phone on/ off, press . 4 To make a call: · If your phone is within the network service area (if the symbol appears on the display), you can make a call. · To make a call, key in the desired phone number (including the area code). · Press to make a call. · Press to end a call. 5 To receive a call: · Press to answer a call. 8 È1999 Nokia Mobile Phones. Clear. 7 To correct keypresses or to clear the entire display: 8 To adjust the earpiece volume: · Use the keys on the side of the phone. · To lock the keypad: · Press Menu and . 9 To unlock the keypad: · Press Unlock and . 10 Listening to voice messages: · Press and hold to call your voice mailbox number. · Note: Make sure you have saved your voice mailbox number in the phone's memory with Menu 1 6 2 before you can call your voice mailbox with the key. Note: This function is operational only if the local network supports it. Check it with your service provider. 11 Reading and writing messages: · Press Menu, choose Messages, Select. · To read: choose Inbox with Select, choose desired message, Read. · To write and send: choose Write messages with Select, key in message, press Options, choose OK, key in the recipient's phone number or Send, OK to send the search for it from the Phone Book, press message. · Note: This function is operational only if the local network supports it. Your phone List of keys Power key Switches the phone on or off. When pressed briefly when the display is clear or during a call: Enters the list of profiles. When pressed briefly while in the PhoneBook or menu functions: Turns the lights on for 15 seconds. Selection keys Each of these keys performs the function indicated by the text above it. Scroll keys Scroll through names, phone numbers, menus or setting options. Dials a phone number and answers a call. With display clear: Shows the most recently dialled number. Ends or rejects a call. Also exits from any function at any time and returns to display clear. Enter numbers and characters. Used for various purposes in different functions. Your phone The selection keys Below the display you will find two selection keys. Their functions depend on the guiding texts shown above the keys. For example, when the word Menu is shown above the key, pressing this key enters the menu functions. Similarly, pressing the key under the word Names allows access to the Phone Book functions.
