D 1 Theory of Operation Overview Pro-Flow is a compact, easy-to-use dispenser of chemicals and enzymes that dissolve organic matter in drains and pipes. Pro-Flow operates automatically, based on pre-set formulas--no user interaction is needed to start or stop operation, making it the ideal "middle-of-the-night" drain cleaner. All programming is performed with the unique, hand-held Remote Programmer ("the remote"), allowing the installer to wirelessly program any Pro-Flow dispenser, even those installed in hard-toreach locations. Shipped with a factory pre-set formula already programmed into the dispenser and the remote, the Pro-Flow allows unrivaled ease of installation and set-up. In most settings, the installer need only perform four steps to install and begin Pro-Flow dispenser operation: 1. Mount the Pro-Flow on either the wall, the battery pack, or the product container. 2. Decide whether to change from oz. (default unit of measurement) to ml. 3. Set the dispenser's clock to the current day and time by pressing the remote's CHECK button. 4. Prime the empty supply tube (if needed) by pressing a "hidden" button on either the dispenser or the remote. Result: The factory pre-set formula (10 oz. (300 ml.) of product, dispensed at midnight, seven days a week) will automatically begin operation at the programmed time. One remote will program multiple Pro-Flow dispensers, saving time during both installation and routine service calls. Rather than repeatedly entering similar formulas into each customer's dispenser, the installer can choose one of three formulas saved in the remote and "beam it," via infrared (IR) communication, to the chosen dispenser. Communication between the dispenser and remote is two-way. With a press of the remote's CHECK button, information about the dispenser's current formula and battery life displays in the remote's window, giving the installer a quick "snapshot" of service needs. After installation, the customer experiences hands-free dispensing and easily views LEDs that indicate power-on and low battery. Both the dispenser and remote have a built-in battery backup to maintain the clock and programmed formulas, regardless of whether they are powered ON or OFF. System Description Pro-Flow system components include: · · · · · Pro-Flow dispenser Power source (either a battery pack or wall transformer) Accessory Kit with mounting supplies and transport tubing Installer's Remote Programmer (capable of programming multiple dispensers) Product container-mount option available P/N 20-08363-00 Rev. D 3 Installation Configurations Pro-Flow's three configurations are designed to suit a wide range of customer requirements. Each configuration installs in minutes: · Wall-mount Pro-Flow dispenser, with transformer Pro-Flow mounts with peel-and-stick velcro-style pads directly on a wall. · Wall-mount Pro-Flow dispenser, with battery pack Pro-Flow slides onto the screw-mounted battery pack's power port. · Container-mount Pro-Flow dispenser, with battery pack The battery pack screws onto the product container-mount and provides a slide-on power port base for a Pro-Flow dispenser. Features Remote Programming Once installed, physical access to the dispenser is rarely needed. All programming, time setting and operational status information is "beamed" between the installer's handheld remote and Pro-Flow. One remote can program many Pro-Flow units from a distance of up to four feet away. Cost Effective A low purchase price, simple installation and the "enter once, program many" Remote Programmer means lower total costs over the life of each unit and less installer time spent at each installation. Easy to Mount With peel-and-stick velcro pads for mounting to smooth and clean surfaces (and optional screws to attach the velcro to wall board or other porous surfaces), Pro-Flow mounts easily in minutes. No User Training Because the Pro-Flow operates automatically from pre-programmed formulas, the customer does not turn it on or off, set formulas, or start and stop product dispensing. It has no operating buttons or specific language requirements. Compact Size An entire Pro-Flow occupies the space of a 3 x 5 index card and doesn't need to be within reach. This makes Pro-Flow ideal for installations where space is limited. Install it under a sink, on a wall, on other kitchen equipment, or on an out-of-the-way product container. Low Battery Indicator The dispenser monitors power consumption during dispensing cycles and indicates when remaining battery life is less than 28 days. A flashing, yellow LED alerts you to replace the batteries. Language Neutral Dispenser The Pro-Flow operates consistently, regardless of language. The two LEDs are clearly labeled with universal icons that indicate low-battery and power-on. Choice of Units of Measurement Select either metric (ml) or SAE (oz) units of measurement. "Plain-English" Remote Programmer LED Display The remote's LCD displays easy-to-read text and graphics with one press of a button. 4 P/N 20-08363-00 Rev. D 2 Dispenser Installation A Remote Programmer may be needed to complete the installation. After the remote's initial set up is complete, one remote can program multiple dispensers. Note Use the remote to set the dispenser's: (1) Formula (unless dispenser was pre-programmed prior to shipping or the factory pre-set formula will be used) (2) Set the dispenser's clock to the current day and time (by pressing the remote's CHECK button). See "First-Time New Remote Set-up" on page 9 for more information. Locating the DispenserWall Mount Only For ease of programming and maximum pump efficiency, choose a mounting location in which: · There is a clean line of sight (up to 4 ft. or 1.2 m) between the installer's remote and the dispenser. · The dispenser is no more than 4 ft. (1.2 m) from the product container and within 6 ft. (1.8 m) of a power outlet, if using a transformer. · The mounting surface is clean and dry (smooth surfaces should be cleaned with an alcohol wipe). · The dispenser is not in direct contact with sources of steam, water spray or high temperatures nor is it in direct sunlight or under heat lamps (to provide optimal IR communication with the remote). Wall Mount Dispenserwith Transformer Required Materials: Dispenser, transformer (with appropriate electrical outlet mating plug), and accessory kit (supplied). If mounting surface does not provide a suitable adhesive bond, a phillipshead screwdriver and drill are also required (not supplied). See Figure 1"Wall Mount Dispenser with Transformer" on page 6 for more information. 1. Position and mark a dispenser location that meets the requirements described above. 2. Separate velcro-style strips and peel backing away from one strip. 3. Position strip in recess on back of dispenser. Press firmly for good adhesion. 4. Peel backing from second velcro-style strip and place strip on a smooth and clean surface at the previously marked location. Press firmly for good adhesion. Note If surface will not provide a suitable adhesive bond, secure velcrostyle strip with supplied wall anchors and screws. Screws must be installed so they are flush with the flat portion of the velcro-style strip. 5. Place dispenser's velcro-style strip onto wall strip and press firmly to join. 6. Plug transformer into jack on dispenser and into wall outlet. P/N 20-08363-00 Rev.
