Antara's advanced all-wheel drive system, with standard ESP®, guarantees a perfect drive in all situations. All-wheel drive (AWD). The Antara is equipped with an electronically controlled AWD drive train. In normal driving conditions the power is delivered to the front wheels. However in difficult or slippery conditions it will automatically engage the AWD, delivering the drive 50 : 50 front to rear, for optimal traction. Electronic driving systems. The new Opel Antara utilises highly developed electronic driver's support systems to enhance active safety. In addition to its normal function the ABS also offers: · Cornering Brake Control (CBC), which improves stability when braking in curves by reducing brake pressure on the inner wheels. · Hydraulic Brake Assist (HBA), which automatically increases braking pressure when the driver steps heavily on the brake, progressively increasing the pressure to the maximum, thus dramatically reducing braking distance. The Electronic Stability Program (ESP®) fitted to the new Opel Antara includes standard Traction Control (TC) and Descent Control System (DCS). The perfect interplay of these systems with the intelligent All-wheel drive (AWD) not only delivers a high degree of driving satisfaction and comfort, but also high reserves of active safety. 15 Driving Dynamics Descent Control System (DCS). The new Opel Antara is fitted with an incline descent control system as standard equipment. Activating the DCS maintains a constant descent speed which is preselected via the accelerator pedal. The key element of the SAFETEC® system in the new Opel Antara is the extremely rigid passenger safety cell. This minimises mechanical deformation and preserves the maximum possible survival area under all accident conditions. In the event of a frontal collision, the energy is distributed over three distinct load paths. In low speed collisions, special deformable cells at the front and a monoblock system at the rear of the frame absorb the crash energy reducing repair costs. Front lights. The standard fog lamps are recessed into the lower valence. Xenon headlamps, with dynamic height adjustment and high-pressure wash system, are optional. 16 Automatic Lighting Control (ALC). Special sensors enable the car to adapt to light levels of the road ahead and will automatically activate dipped beam if necessary.
