Warning- Do not look into the projector's lens when the lamp is on. The bright light may hurt your eyes. Warning- To reduce the risk of fire or electric shock, do not expose this product to rain or moisture. Warning- Please do not open or disassemble the product as this may cause electric shock. Warning- When changing the lamp, please allow unit to cool down, and follow all changing instructions. Warning- This product will detect the life of the lamp itself. Please be sure to change the lamp when it shows warning messages. Warning- Reset the "Lamp Reset" function from the On Screen Display "System-->Lamp Setting" menu after replacing the lamp module (refer to page 30). Warning- When switching the projector off, please ensure the projector completes its cooling cycle before disconnecting power. Warning- Turn on the projector first and then the signal sources. Warning- Do not use lens cap when projector is in operation. English 2 Usage Notice Do: Turn off the product before cleaning. Use a soft cloth moistened with mild detergent to clean the display housing. Disconnect the power plug from AC outlet if the product is not being used for a long period of time. English Do not: Block the slots and openings on the unit provided for ventilation. Place in direct sunlight. Use abrasive cleaners, waxes, or solvents to clean the unit. VGA to RCA Cable for YPbPr 10 Installation Powering On/Off the Projector Powering On the Projector 1. Remove the lens cap. 2. Ensure that the power cord and signal cable are securely connected. The Power LED will flash green. 3. Turn on the lamp by pressing "Power/Standby" button on the control panel. And the Power LED will turn green. The first time you use the projector, you can select your prefered language from quick menu after the startup screen display. English 4. Turn on your source (computer, notebook, video player, etc.). The projector will detect your source automatically. If the screen displays "No Signal", please make sure the signal cables are securely connected. If you connect multiple sources at the same time, use the "Source" button on the control panel to switch. Power/Standby Turn on the projector first followed by the signal sources. 11 Installation Powering Off the Projector 1. Press the "Power/Standby" button to turn off the projector lamp, you will see a message "Power off the lamp? Picture Mute" displayed on the projector's screen. Press the "Power/Standby" button again to confirm, otherwise the message will disappear after 25 seconds. Please note that if the key is pressed instead, the projector will enter the "Picture Mute" mode and no image will be displayed. To exit the "Picture Mute" mode, press the "Power/Standby"button again, or press "Hide" on the remote control. 2. The cooling fans continue to operate for about 60 seconds for cooling cycle and the Power LED will turn green. When the Power LED begins flashing, the projector has entered standby mode. If you wish to turn the projector back on, you must wait until the projector has completed the cooling cycle and has entered standby mode. Once in standby mode, simply press "Power/Standby" button to restart the projector. 3. Disconnect the power cord from the electrical outlet and the projector. 4. Do not turn on the projector immediately following a power off procedure. English Warning Indicator When the "LAMP" indicator lights solid red, the projector will automatically shut itself down. Please contact your local reseller or service center. When the "TEMP" indicator lights solid red for about 20 seconds, it indicates the projector has been overheated. You will see a message "Projector Overheated. Lamp will automatically turn off soon." on the on-screen display. The projector will automatically shut itself down. Under normal conditions, the projector can be switched on again after it has cooled down. If the problem persists, you should contact your local dealer or our service center. When the "TEMP" indicator flashs red for about 10 seconds, you will see a message "Fan fail. Lamp will automatically turn off soon." on the on-screen display. Please contact your local dealer or our service center. 12 Installation English Adjusting the Projected Image Adjusting the Image Height The projector is equipped with an elevator foot to adjust the image height. To raise or lower the image : 1. Turn the projector over and locate the elevator foot. Press to extend the foot so it may be the elevator button adjusted. 2. While holding down the elevator button, adjust the foot to the desired height, then release the button to lock the elevator foot into position. 3. Use to fine-tune tilt-adjustment 4. Lower the projector so it rests on its foot; adjust as needed. 1 Elevator Button 2 3 Elevator Foot Tilt-adjustment Foot 13 Installation Adjusting the Projector's Zoom/Focus You may adjust the zoom to zoom the lens in or out. Turn the zoom lever to zoom in or zoom out. To focus on the image, turn the focus ring until you see a clear image. The projector will focus at distances from 4.9 to 40.7 feet (1.5 to 12.5 meters). English Zoom Lever Focus Ring 14 User Controls Control Panel & Remote Control There are two ways to control the projector: through the remote control or through the control panel on the projector. English Remote Control Control Panel Using the Remote Control Power 4 "Power" turns on the projector's lamp. Refer to the "Powering On/Off the Projector" section on page 11~ 12 for more details. Hide 4 "Hide" immediately turns the screen black. Press "Hide" again to restore the displayed image. Freeze 4 "Freeze" pauses the screen image, press "Freeze" again to unpause. Re-Sync 4 Automatically synchronizes the projector with the input source. Brightness 4 Adjust the brightness of the image. 15 User Controls Contrast English 4 Control the degree of difference between the lightest and darkest parts of the picture. Keystone +/- 4 Correct image distortion caused by tilting the projector. 4:3 4 Scale the image at a 4:3 aspect ratio. 16 : 9 1:1 4 Scale the image at a 16:9 aspect ratio. 4 The input source will be displayed without scaling. Letterbox 4 Enable the viewing of the letterboxed non-anamorphically Image shift +/- enhanced movie at full screen width. Part of the original image will be lost if the image aspect ratio is less than 1.78:1. 4 Shifts the projected image position vertically. At higher temperature, the screen looks colder; at lower temperature, the screen looks warmer. Advanced Adjustment Press "Enter" to adjust the red, green and blue colors for advanced adjustment of brightness and contrast of the individual colors. Signal 4 Frequency: Changes the display data frequency to match the frequency of your computer's graphic card. When you experience a vertical flickering bar, use this function to make an adjustment. 4 Tracking : Synchronizes the signal timing of the display with the graphics card. If you experience an unstable or flickering image, use this function to correct it. 4 H. Position: Adjusts the horizontal position. 4 V. Position: Adjusts the vertical position. 24 User Controls English Image-II (Computer Mode) Aspect Ratio Use this function to choose your desired aspect ratio. 4 4:3 : The input source will be scaled to fit the projection screen. 4 16:9 : The input source will be scaled to fit the width of the screen. 4 1:1 :The input source will be displayed without scaling. (±16 degrees) Projection 4 4 Front-Desktop The factory default setting. Rear-Desktop When you select this function, the projector reverses the image so you may project from behind a translucent screen. Front-Ceiling When you select this function, the projector turns the image upside down to accommodate ceiling-mounted projection. Rear-Ceiling When you select this function, the projector reverses and turns the image upside down at same time. You can display an image from behind a translucent screen with ceiling mounted projection. 4 4 Signal Type Select signal type RGB or Video surces. The "Edge Mask" sub menu is supported only when the "Full Screen Zoom" select to "Normal". Edge Mask Choose "On" to mask off a few pixels on each edge of the image to be displayed. Use Edge Mask "On" if image source happens to have encoding error near any edge of the displayable image. Image Shift Shifts the projected image position vertically. 0 is middle of the screen. You can be stored to preset values by selecting either preset memory 1 or 2 or OFF before adjusting image. 28 User Controls English Management Source Lock When source lock is turned off, the projector will search for other signals if the current input signal is lost. When source lock is turned on, it will show "No Signal" on the screen and keeps searching for the current input signal. Brite Mode Choose "On" to increase light output. Choose "Off" to return normal mode. Reset Return the adjustments and settings to the factory default values. 4 Current: Returns the current menu's settings to factory default values. 4 All: Returns the settings for all menus to factory default values. 4 Exit: Cancel the revised settings. 29 User Controls English System Lamp Settings 4 Lamp Hour: Displays the cumulative lamp operating time. 4 Lamp Reset: Reset the lamp setting only when the new lamp is replaced. 4 Lamp Reminding: Choose this function to show or to hide the Language Choose the multilingual OSD menu . If the problem persists, contact your local reseller or service center immediately. Problem: No image appears on screen. Click on the "Advanced Properties" button. If the projector is still not displaying the entire image, you may need to change the monitor display that you are using. Refer to the following steps. 32 Appendices 4. Verify the resolution setting is less than or equal to 1280 x 1024 resolution. 5. Select the "Change" button under the "Monitor" tab . 6. Click on "Show all devices." Next, select "Standard monitor types" under the SP box; choose the resolution mode you need under the "Models" box. 7. Verify that the resolution setting of the monitor display is less than or equal to 1280 x 1024. English 4 If you are using a Notebook PC: 1. First, follow the steps above to adjust resolution of the computer. 2. Switch the Notebook PC display to the "external display only" or "CRT only" mode. 4 If you experience difficulty changing resolutions or your monitor freezes, restart all equipment including the projector. Problem: The screen of the Notebook or PowerBook computer is not displaying a presentation. 4 If you are using a Notebook PC: Some Notebook PCs may deactivate their own screens when a second display device is in use. Each has a different way to be reactivated. Refer to your computer's documentation for detailed information. Problem: Image is unstable or flickering 4 Use "Tracking" to correct it. See page 24 for more information. 4 Change the monitor color setting or the frequency on your computer. Problem: Image has vertical flickering bar 4 Use "Frequency" to make an adjustment. See page 24 for more information. 4 Check and reconfigure the display mode of your graphics card to ensure compatibility. 33 Appendices Problem: Image is out of focus English 4 Adjusts the Focus Ring on the projector lens. Refer to page 14. 4 Make sure the projection screen is between the required distance 4.9 to 40.7 feet (1.5 to 12.5 meters) from the projector. Problem: Image is reversed. 4 Press "Menu", then select "Management" to adjust the projection mode. Problem: Lamp burns out or makes a popping sound 4 When the lamp reaches its end of life, it will burn out and may make a loud popping sound. If this happens, the projector will not turn back on until the lamp module has been replaced. To replace the lamp, follow the procedures in "Replacing the Lamp" page 35. Error (Lamp Breakdown) Flashing Power LED Green Flashing Temp LED Lamp LED Problem: Message Reminders 4 "Lamp is approaching the end of its useful life in full power 4 4 operation. Replacement Suggested!" will be shown about 10 seconds, when lamp is nearing end of life. "Projector Overheated. Lamp will automatically turn off soon." will be shown when the system temperature is too high. "Fan fail. Lamp will automatically turn off soon." will be shown when the fan is out of order. 34 Appendices Replacing the Lamp The projector will detect the lamp life itself. It will show you a warning message "Lamp may fail soon ! Replacement Suggested !" When you see this message, please contact your local reseller or service center. Make sure the projector has cooled down for at least 30 minutes before replacing the lamp. 1 3 English Warning: Lamp compartment is hot! Allow it to cool down before replacing lamp! 2 4 Lamp Replacing Procedure: Warning: To reduce the risk of personal injury, avoid dropping the lamp module or touching the lamp bulb. If dropped, the bulb may shatter and cause injury. 1. Switch off the power to the projector by pressing the Power button. 2. Allow the projector to cool down at least 30 minutes. 3. Disconnect the power cord. 4. Use a screwdriver to remove the screw from the cover. 5. Push up and remove the cover. 6. Remove the 2 screws from the lamp module. 7. Pull out the lamp module.
