EZ Finder Reflex Sight TM #7075 The EZ FinderTM Reflex Sight is a fantastic device that makes pointing your telescope almost as easy as pointing your finger. Keep both eyes open when you look through the EZ Finder. You will see the image of a red dot projected at infinity, showing exactly where the telescope is aimed in the night sky. EZ Finder installs on any telescope in minutes, has a wide 10° field of view, and low and high brightness settings. EZ Finder fits Meade and Celestron SC telescopes in existing mounting holes, and attaches easily to other scopes. Mounting The EZ Finder will mount to any telescope with the doublesided tape (included), or with two bolts (not included). It is important to align the finder with the main optics of the telescope. If you are not using your scope's pre-drilled holes which accommodate finder scopes, you can achieve a straight line by using a piece or a strip of paper that wraps completely around the tube. The paper will give you a straight edge to use as a There are two brightness levels on the EZ Finder: a low setting for dark sky locations, and a brighter setting for areas with more light pollution. The internal resistor has been set at a level which will offer a bright enough dot without being so bright as to ruin your night vision. NOTE: The dot may be too bright if you are under a dark sky location. The resistor can be adjusted on the low setting to make it dimmer by removing the screw located under the end with the battery. Loosen the adjustment wheel in the rear all the way until the body of the EZ Finder detaches. The resistor adjuster is the small yellow plastic piece in the middle of the inside of the finder. Turning the resistor clockwise will further dim the brightness of the dot, and turning it counterclockwise will brighten the dot. Alignment with the Telescope Alignment of the EZ Finder with the main optics of the telescope should be done during twilight hours before going out to view for the first time. Focus your telescope on a tree, telephone pole, or any object that is one-half mile away or further. Hopefully, the EZ Finder's dot will be close to the object you have focused in the telescope. The dot's position can be adjusted in both the left/right and the up/down axes. Left/right movement is controlled by the screw located above the battery; a clockwise turn will move the dot right. Up/down is controlled by a dial in the rear of the unit; a clockwise turn will move the dot lower. The EZ Finder has been mounted in its bracket so that the front end is higher than the back end. This has been done to allow up and down movement of the dot. Specifications Weight 2.5 oz. If you plan to drill, mark the hole position and attach the finder with a nut and bolt combination. If you are using the double-sided tape, peel the backing from one side and adhere to the bracket, then align the back of the bracket to the edge of the paper. Remove the backing from the other side of tape, and adhere the bracket to the tube. Operation The EZ Finder works by projecting a red dot onto a lens mounted in the front of the unit. When you look through the finder, a red dot will appear to float in space, helping you locate even the faintest of deep space objects. When the red dot is on the object, it should also appear in the center of the field of view in your eyepiece. The red dot is produced by a diode in the rear of the sight. A 3v long-life Lithium battery provides the power for the diode. (Lithium batteries are available in many retail outlets.) The battery is easily removed by sliding it forward from under the retaining clip. Place the new battery with the positive side (+) facing out and slide under the retaining clip.
