Over time your hearing "comfort level" adapts to higher volumes of sound. So what sounds "normal" can actually be loud and harmful to your hearing. Guard against this by setting your equipment at a safe level BEFORE your hearing adapts. To establish a safe level: Start your volume control at a low setting. Slowly increase the sound until you can hear it comfortably and clearly, and without distortion. Once you have established a comfortable sound level: Set the dial and leave it there. Monitoring The sound can be heard with an earphone (not included) plugged into [MONIT(8 )]. Plug type: 3.5 mm (1/8 in.) monaural Note: Any change made to the volume during recording (when [VAS] is set to °) will not affect the recorded sound. Do not adjust the volume when recording with the VAS function or the VAS level will change. EST. 1924 Do not play your headphones or earphones at a high volume. Hearing experts advise against continuous extended play. If you experience a ringing in your ears, reduce volume or discontinue use. Erasure prevention Removing the tab(s) of the cassette (with a small screwdriver) will prevent accidental erasure. Small screw driver Side A Tab for side A Side B To record again, cover the hole of the tab with adhesive tape. Do not use while operating a motorized vehicle. It may create a traffic hazard and is illegal in many areas. You should use extreme caution or temporarily discontinue use in potentially hazardous situations.
