Your Vaporella has been designed to ensure maximum ironing comfort; its quality materials make it a reliable work-mate. The powerful jet of Vaporella steam acts on the fabrics eliminating every crease. Therefore it is not necessary to press on or iron repeatedly. Just let the iron slide over the garment to obtain perfect ironing, saving time and effort. With Vaporella it is possible to iron vertically to revive fabrics and take out bad smells from jackets, clothes and overcoats. Thanks to its self-refilling system, Vaporella is quickly ready for use and does not need any interruption to your ironing for refilling the boiler. Danger of burns! · Never place your hands inside the jet of ENGLISH VL FOREVER 1000 - VL FOREVER 950 steam. Danger of burns! · Do not put any detergent or chemical substance in the boiler. Water by its nature contains magnesium, mineral salts and other deposits which in hard water areas can contribute to limescale build up in the tank. In very hard water areas we recommend the use of our KALSTOP FP 2003, a special natural-base decalcifier which inhibits and breaks down limescale. This is a preventive against scale build-up and protects the metal walls of the boiler. KALSTOP is available from Polti dealers or from your Polti Service Centre. · If you iron sitting down, do not place your legs under the ironing board, the steam can cause burns. · Iron only on heat resistant surfaces and on surfaces that allow the steam to escape e.g. mesh ironing boards. · For iron rest replacement use only original spare parts. · The iron must be used and rested on a stable surface. · When placing the iron on its stand, make sure that the surface on which the stand is placed is stable. · Check that the continuous steam request button is switched off before connecting the appliance to the mains. · This appliance is not intended for use by persons (including children) with reduced physical, sensory or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, unless they have been given supervision or instruction concerning use of the appliance by a person responsible for their safety. · Children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. CORRECT USE OF THE PRODUCT This appliance is intended for home use as a steam generator as described and in accordance with the instructions provided in this manual. The crossed-out wastebasket symbol on the appliance means that at the end of its useful lifespan, the product must be disposed of separately from ordinary household wastes. The user is responsible for delivering the appliance to an appropriate collection facility at the end of its useful lifespan. Appropriate separate collection to permit recycling, treatment and environmentally compatible disposal helps prevent negative impact on the environment and human health and promotes recycling of the materials making up the product. I M P O R TA N T Before leaving our factory all our products are rigorously tested. This is the reason why your VAPORELLA may contain some residual water in the boiler. P R E PA R AT I O N F O R U S E 1a. Unscrew the self-refilling tank cap (1) (Fig.1) and fill the tank with about 1 litre of water, making sure it does not overflow. During filling we recommend to disconnect the appliance from the mains. Water tank can also be filled when removed from the boiler. In this case, separate the tank (3) from the appliance by pulling the lever upwards (3a) (Fig. 2). Once the tank (3) is filled, reposition the cap and replace the tank, making sure that it is correctly fitted to the appliance. Normal tapwater can be used. However, as hard water by its na- ENGLISH VL FOREVER 1000 - VL FOREVER 950 ture contains limestone, which may cause build-up of limescale in the tank, in hard water areas we recommend the use of our natural-base decalcifier KALSTOP FP 2003. 2a. Connect the cable plug to an earthed power supply of the correct voltage. 3a. Press the illuminated ON/OFF switch (2) (Fig. 3); the steam pressure indicator (5) and the "iron heating" indicator light (10a) will light up. INSTRUCTIONS FOR USE Check the manufacturer's label on the garment, and interpret the symbol on the label as follows: Steam ironing allowed--set the dial to its MAXIMUM travel at the end of the 3 dots symbol on your Polti iron Steam ironing allowed--set the dial to its MAXIMUM travel at the end of the THREE (nb THREE, not two) dots symbol on your Polti iron DRY IRON only, with iron dial set at one dot. N.B. NEVER CALL FOR STEAM BY PRESSING STEAM REQUEST BUTTON when DRY ironing. See special instructions for DRY ironing in the instruction book. DO NOT IRON. Neither steam nor dry ironing allowed. may come out of the soleplate until the temperature stabilizes. It is advisable to direct the first jets of steam onto an old clean cloth until a uniform stable jet of steam is obtained. 3b. In order to have a continuous steam jet, move the button (10b) forwards. Steam will keep on coming out, even if you release the button. To interrupt the steam flow, move the button (10b) backwards (fig. 6). 4b. By turning the steam control knob (6) you can vary the quantity of steam according to the type of texile to be ironed (more or less delicate). You can use this control to increase the steam flow by turning in clockwise direction. Turning the control in an anticlockwise direction reduces the steam flow (fig. 7). We suggest the maximum emission for heavy textiles like jeans, medium for cotton and linen, minimum for light textiles. DRY IRONING 1c. For DRY ironing (without steam), adjust the temperature by turning the knob (7), setting it to the temperature required for the fabric, as shown on the same knob. When dry ironing, be careful NOT TO PRESS THE STEAM RELEASE SWITCH (10) on top of the iron, otherwise water may leak from the soleplate of the iron. NOTE: · The steam pressure indicator light (5) and the Iron heating indicator light (10a) go on and off during usage. This means that the heating element is working correctly to keep a constant pressure in the boiler. This ia a correct functioning, just continue ironing as usual. · If no steam comes out of the iron, check the following: the Iron heating indicator light (10a) is OFF; there is water in the boiler. STEAM IRONING 1b. Set the iron temperature to the "COTTON - LINEN" steam position (fig. 4), by turning the knob (7). For steam ironing, all types of fabric can be ironed at this temperature. 2b. Wait for the steam pressure indicator light (5) and the "iron heating" indicator light (10a) to switch off (about 3 minutes). Push switch (10) on the iron to make steam come out of the holes on the soleplate. Release the button and the steam will stop (fig. 5). NOTE: during initial operation of the iron, a few drops of water mixed with steam 29 ENGLISH VL FOREVER 1000 - VL FOREVER 950 FILLING THE BOILER Thanks to the self-filling function, there is no longer any need to stop and wait to fill the boiler. When the water inside the boiler reaches its lowest level, the thermostat will automatically activate a pump that will fill the boiler from the tank. If no steam issues on pressing the steam release switch and the water level warning light (4) lights up at the same time, it means there is no more water in the tank. To keep on working, simply restore the water level in the self-refilling tank as described in the "Preparation for use" paragraph. C A R E O F Y O U R VA P O R E L L A · Before attempting any maintenance operation, always disconnect the appliance from the mains. · To clean the body of the appliance, simply use a moist cloth.
