(4 hours to 95% of battery capacity) The accessory Pro-7b 12-24V Car Charger (10 02 19) charges the battery in approx.2.5 hours (2 hours to 95% of battery capacity) The accessory Pro-7b Power Converter 100-240V (90 07 35/36/37) is a 12V power converter used to power the fast Pro-7b Car Charger from the mains. The accessory Pro-7b Universal Power Adapter (UPA) (90 07 28/29/30) can be operated from virtually any power source between 12-24V DC and 100-240V AC. The Pro-7b Multi Charger 100-240V continuously charges the battery since the generator always work through the battery. For the more demanding photographer the optional tool is the Universal Power Adapter (UPA) Maintenance charging All the Profoto chargers will switch to maintenance (trickle) charge & reconditioning mode after the battery is fully charged. This prolongs the battery life time and makes it possible to have the charger connected at all times. Continous charging has a positive effect on the battery life. Pro-7b Battery #90.07.26 (incl. cassette) Battery only #10.02.21 A.D.-01 Battery facts About battery lifetime and how to prolong it The Pro-7b generator is equipped with one of the best long-life batteries with special characteristics to support very short recycling times. This battery type does not suffer from so-called memory effects known from old cellular phones. In fact, the battery is negatively affected by complete discharge and recharge cycles. On the other hand, frequent charges have a positive effect. The battery life can vary from two hundred recharges up to several thousand. With optimal care the battery can last up to 3,5 years. With normal usage, it will last 1-3 years. Nevertheless, if the battery is fully discharged every time it is used, it will still keep its capacity for 250-350 recharges. Factors that will prolong the battery life: · If possible, charge the battery while using it as well as on the shelf. This is valid using either a Pro-7b Multi Charger (#100218) a Pro-7b 12-24V Car Charger (#100219) or a Pro-7b Universal Power Adapter (#900728/29/30) · Use the Pro-7b battery often. · If the battery is to be stored for periods longer than 30 days, make sure to recharge the battery completely prior to storage. · It is advisable to have a charger connected at all times. · The life is doubled if less than 50% of the batteries capacity is used before recharge. · If only 25% of the batteries capacity is used before recharge, the lifetime increases 8 times, i.e. make sure to charge the battery as often as you can. · Only use Profoto three-step chargers. Factors that will shorten battery life: · The battery is left fully discharged for long periods. · High battery temperature. · Usage of non-Profoto chargers. At what temperatures can the Pro-7b be used, charged and stored? Ord.no. 10 40 26 The Pro-7b generator can be used when the temperature of the battery is within the range of -20º to +40ºC (-4º to +104ºF) The capacity of the battery decreases dramatically when the battery temperature falls below freezing (+32ºF) The generator and battery have a great thermal mass which will maintain the operational temperature for a long time, especially when insulated. It is therefore advisable to use the Pro-7b Protective Case (or similar insulating case) to keep the generator warm when used at low temperatures. Please note- because of this heavy mass, it can take several hours for a cold battery to restore operational temperature. · It is advisable to have the generator set to slow recharging when the battery temperature is low. · Never charge the battery if the battery temperature is below zero (+32ºF) or above +40ºC (+104ºF) · Do not store the unit in hot or cold conditions prior to use. · The battery itself must have the right temperature, it is not sufficient that the surrounding temperature is within the correct range, · Do not to expose the generator to direct sunlight and/or extremely high temperatures for longer periods than one hour. · Keep the Pro-7b protected from snow, rain, moisture and dirt.
