Connecting the Universal Power Adapter
The Universal Power Adapter (UPA) is a power supply unit that supplies the Pro-7b generator from either a 12-24V system or 100-240V mains via the battery, thereby maintaining the same capacity and charactaristics of the Pro-7b generator also when used as a studio generator. The UPA is also a high performance battery charger which will recharge an empty battery to full in approximately two hours. The built in battery reconditioner guaranties optimal battery lifetime. On a 12V power source, the UPA has a built-in battery protection function preventing battery damage caused by low energy levels. (Not valid in 24V systems) When used as a power supply unit, the UPA will support the Pro-7b generator with sufficient power for normal studio usage. With the support of a fully charged battery the UPA, with intermittent use, will provide 300 full power flashes for a 30 minutes period. (or 450 full power flashes for 2 hours) The UPA allows 800 full power flashes during an 8 hour workingday without consuming the battery.
General description
Connect the DC cable from the UPA to the DC outlet on the panel of the Pro-7b generator. 3 Connect the UPA to a power source (12-24V using the DC cable or 100-240V using the mains cable) 4

When charging a partially discharged battery a red LED on the UPA panel will indicate "charging". When the battery reaches 95% of full capacity, a green LED will indicate "95% charged", charging will then continue for approximately 5 hours after which a second green LED "trickle charge" indicates the start of the maintenance charge or the reconditioning mode. When charging a completly discharged battery, the process will be the same as described above, except for an extended interval between the LED indications "Charging" and "95% charged"
Charging
NOTE! The separate DC cable cannot be used directly on the
A.D.-01
Pro-7b generator. Although no damage will occur, the battery will not charge.
When the battery is fully charged, the reconditioning mode is activated, during this phase any imbalance between battery cells will be equalized. This prolongs the lifetime of the battery and allows the charger to be connected at all times.
