If you charge two 9V batteries, you cannot charge any AAA/AA batteries at the same time. If you charge one 9V battery, you can charge up to four AAA/AA batteries or up to two C/D in the other bays. You can charge/discharge different types of batteries in different bays, as long as the battery (or batteries) in each bay are the same type and same size. For example, you can charge a 9V battery in one bay and charge a C battery in one of the remaining bays at the same time. You cannot discharge 9V batteries. You cannot insert one AAA and one AA battery into the same battery compartment. You cannot charge AAA/AA batteries in the C/D battery terminals. The 9V charging channel has no automatic turn off feature. Be sure you do not exceed the times listed in "Charging Current & Charge Time" or the batteries' capacity could be reduced. It is normal for batteries to become warm while charging. Charge batteries in temperatures between 32° and 109°F (0° and 43°C). If the area is too warm, the batteries can lose their ability to charge. Do not try to charge batteries other than those listed in this guide, or use procedures other than those described in this guide. Press OPEN to open the cover. 2. Insert up to four pairs of AAA/AA batteries or up to four C/D batteries into the battery bay as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and ­ ) marked inside each bay. To insert a 9V battery, connect it to the terminals inside the bay. 3. Plug the supplied AC adapter's barrel plug into the jack on the back of the charger, then plug the adapter into a standard AC outlet. 4. To discharge AAA, AA, C, or D batteries, press REFRESH once. The green indicator lights. When the batteries are fully discharged, the green indicator turns off and the red charging indicator (or indicators) lights. A charging indicator lights for each bay containing batteries. When AAA, AA, C, or D batteries are fully charged, The charging indicator turns off. This is the end of the charging cycle. 5. To charge a 9V battery, insert it into one of the terminals inside either bay. To charge a second 9V battery at the same time, insert it into the remaining terminal. 6. When you finish, unplug the adapter from the AC outlet, then remove the batteries from the charger. · · · Recycle Rechargeable Batteries Placing rechargeable batteries in the trash can be harmful to the environment. Instead, recycle old rechargeable batteries at your local RadioShack store free of charge.
