OWNER'S MANUAL -- Please read before using this equipment.
Your RadioShack Heavy Duty 7-Day Digital Timer gives you an easy way to program a lamp, TV, stereo, or other appliance to operate automatically in a set or random pattern. Its features include: Up to 98 ON/OFF Weekly Settings -- let you program one appliance to turn on and off up to 14 times a day, every day of the week. Random Switch Setting -- turns the appliance on for five minutes to an hour (in a random pattern) four to 12 times a day to avoid a predictable "timer-controlled" look. Manual Override -- lets you turn the automatic timer on and off when you desire. Various Length Settings -- let you program the timer to operate only on a particular day of the week, every day, only weekdays, only weekends, or every day but Sunday. Highly Accurate -- the timer is accurate to the minute, providing you with precise timing in any setting. Your Heavy Duty 7-Day Digital Timer is listed to UL standards and meets all applicable FCC requirements.

Warning: Do not use the timer to turn off power for maintenance (repairs, removing broken bulbs, etc.). Always turn power off at the service panel by removing a fuse or circuit breaker before doing any circuit repairs.
INSTALLING THE BACKUP BATTERIES
Your timer requires two L1154 button-cell batteries (supplied) for power. For the best performance and longest life, we recommend RadioShack alkaline batteries.

The batteries retain the program during power outages. After removing the batteries, you have 15 seconds to insert new batteries without losing any programs. Warning: Keep button-cell batteries away from children. Swallowing a button-cell battery can be fatal. Cautions: · Use only fresh batteries of the required size and recommended type. · Do not mix old and new batteries, or different types of batteries. Follow these steps to install batteries. 1. Unplug the timer. 2. Use a small, flat screwdriver to remove the battery carrier. 3. Place both batteries in the compartment as indicated by the polarity symbols (+ and ) marked inside. 4. Align the notch on the battery carrier with the indention in the holder, then slide the carrier into place. 5. Plug the timer into an outlet. When the display dims or is weak or unreadable when the timer is unplugged from an outlet, replace the batteries. When you replace the batteries, follow Steps 15. If the display goes blank, use a straightened paper clip to press RESET. Warning: Dispose of old batteries promptly and properly. Do not burn or bury them. Caution: If you do not plan to use the timer for an extended period of time, remove the batteries. Batteries can leak chemicals that can destroy electronic parts.
A QUICK LOOK AT THE DISPLAY
Daylight Savings Symbol -- appears when it is Daylight Savings time. Hold down DS to turn the symbol off. On/Off Symbol -- indicates the timer is on or an on time is being programmed. A light bulb with an X on it indicates the timer is off or an off time is being programmed.
AM/PM Setting -- indicates the time of day.
Day -- shows the current day of the week.
Program Symbol -- the number to the right of this indicates which program is running.
Countdown Timer Clock -- appears when the timer is in countdown mode.
Mode Indicator -- shows which mode the timer is currently in.
SETTING THE CLOCK
Before you program the clock, the timer must be set to On, Auto, or Off. The appliance can be on or off. Note: If it is Daylight Savings time, hold down DS for a couple of seconds until the Daylight Savings symbol appears. If it is not Daylight Savings time and the Daylight Savings symbol is on, hold down DS for a couple of seconds until the symbol turns off. The Daylight Savings symbol (6) appears or disappears and 6 the time switches one hour in the appropriate direction. 1. Push and hold TIME SET. The blinking colon stops blinking and appears steadily. 2. While holding TIME SET: Repeatedly press DAY to change the day of week. Repeatedly press HOUR to change the hour and AM/PM. 2
Repeatedly press MIN to change the minutes. Notes: · If you hold down DAY, HOUR or MIN the display changes quickly. · Seconds are set to 0 when the TIME SET button is released if either the hour or minutes have been set.
When the countdown reaches 33=33/ the connected appliance is switched on or off and the clock display remains 33=33 33=33.
Off Mode
In Off mode, the appliance is off. Press ON/ OFF to switch to On mode to turn the appliance on. appears when the timer is off (or when you are programming an off time).
SETTING THE MODE
Repeatedly press MODE to select Countdown Timer, Off, Auto, On, or Random.
Auto Mode
In Auto mode the programmed on and off times automatically switch the appliance on and off. Press ON/OFF while in Auto mode to manually override the program and turn the appliance on or off. The programmed switching times remain, and the timer remains in auto mode.
Countdown Timer Mode
The countdown timer lets you set the timer for 15, 30, 45, 60 or 75 minutes. Once the countdown timer is set, the appliance turns on or off after the set time. Note: The countdown time is preset to turn the appliance on or off after 75 minutes. Follow these steps to set the countdown timer: and &Q 1. Repeatedly press MODE until appear. (75 minutes is selected.) 2. If desired, press MIN to change the countdown to 60, 45, 30, 15 or 0 minutes. 3. If desired, press ON/OFF to turn the appliance on or off. If you turn the appliance off, the timer will turn it on after the set amount of time has passed. If you turn the appliance on, the timer will turn it off. 4. Press TIME SET to start the countdown. While counting down, flashes. Note: You can push TIME SET to switch between the countdown time and the current time. indicates the timer is in countdown timer mode.
On Mode
In On mode, the appliance is on. Press ON/ OFF to switch to Off mode to turn the appliance off. appears when the timer is on (or when you are programming an on time).
Random Mode
In Random mode, the timer randomly switches the connected appliance on and off. A random on period can range from five to 60 minutes. The timer switches the appliance on or off four to 12 random times per day.
PROGRAMMING THE TIMER
You can program the timer in Auto, On or Off modes, but the program is followed only in Auto mode. Note: Even thought the on/off light bulb symbol changes while you are programming the timer, the connected appliance does not turn on or off.

Repeatedly press HOUR to select the hour. 4. Repeatedly press MIN to select the minutes. 5. Press ON/OFF to switch between programming on time and off time for the current program number. 6. Repeat Steps 24 to program the off time. 7. Press TIME SET to exit program setup. Or press PROG again to move on to 3UJ# 5 5, 6, 47. 3UJ# 6 and so on up to 3UJ# 47 Follow Steps 1--5 to set other programs. Note: In case of a conflict, the higher program number is followed. For example, you have programmed the timer to be on at 4 pm every day of the week and also programmed the timer to be off at 4 pm on Saturdays. In case of a conflict within a program number, Off is followed rather than On. To change the programs you have entered, scroll through the current program and change the necessary information. To clear all programs, use a straightened paper clip to press RESET. Follow Steps 16 to set new programs. Note: You will also have to reset the clock after you press RESET.
