Instead, they have their own special control parameter called device ID. The Roland system exclusive messages use device IDs to specify multiple VM-3100 units. The VM-3100 sends system exclusive messages with the device ID set with "MIDI Device ID(*1)", and receives the system exclusive messages whose device ID is same as its device ID and 7FH. (*1) See "2.
