Insert the loop at the end of the Strap under the Strap Eyelet. 2. Insert the other end of the Strap through the loop and tie the Strap onto the Strap Eyelet. NOTES: · Do not use Nickel Cadmium batteries. · With the battery Inserted lncorrectly,the camera will not work.Make sure the battery is installed as shown in Fig.3. · Remove AA batteries from the camera when you do not expect to use it for a long period time. · Don't try to break up or recharge the battery or throw it into fire. · Keep the battery out of the reach of children. · Please replace the battery,while flash charging time is longer than 10 seconds. INSERTING THE BATTERY 1. Open the Battery Chamber Cover in the direction of the arrow by pulling it out.(Fig. 2) 2. Insert the AA-size batteires.checking that(+) and (-) on the battery are aligned according to the polarity information Inside the Battery Chamber.(Fig. 3) 3. Close the Battery Chamber Cover by pushing it until it latches. 8 9 ¥...'RW-1 8-9 10/5/00, 9:06 AM SETTING THE FILM SPEED (Fig.4) 1. This camera is designed to use DX-coded films with ISO ranging from 100 to 400. 2. Your camera automatically sets the correct film speed by reading black-and-silver patches on the film cassettes. LOADING THE FILM 1. Push the Back Cover Lock downward to open (Fig.5) 2. Load the film cassette into the Film Chamber and pull out enough film leader to extend past the film Leader Mark.(Fig.6) 3. Make sure the film stays within the Film Guides and lies flat. 4. Press the Back Cover shut so that the Back cover lock returns to its original position. 5. No matter that the lens cover is open or close, the film will advance to the first exposure frame automatically and the exposuer counter advance to"1". * If the exposure counter does not advance,open the back cover and reload the film. * Whether there is film cassette in the camera or not,can be identified through the Film Check Window. HOLDING YOUR CAMERA(Fig. 8) · Always use both hands to steady your camera. · When holding the camera vertically always position it with the flash at the top. · Be careful not to place your fingers over the lens or flash. BATTERY CHECK LAMP(red light) When the Battery check lamp is blinking, it could finish at least one 36 exp. film by remaining battery power. Please replace to new battery when you finish the last one film. When the Battery check lamp is turning light. Any function of this camera will stop work. Please replace to new battery immediately. RED-EYE REDUCTION LED (Fig.10) This camera is designed to activate Red-eye Reduction automatically. This makes it possible to minimize the red-eye effect that sometimes occurs when taking portrait photographs with flash. Now it's easy for anyone to take superior shots of people. Press the Release button smoothly to half way and hold there for at least one second to light on the Red-eye Reduction LED. The Red-eye Reduction LED only light in 10 sec. max if you keep on press Release button in half way. AUTO FLASH PHOTOGRAPHY 10 11 ¥...'RW-1 10-11 10/5/00, 9:06 AM 1. If additional light is required,the Built-in Flash auto-matically acts. 2. When the flash is recharged and full,the Flash Ready Monitor bp lights up.(Fig. 9) · When the flash is used,it will take about 6 seconds to charge the flash fully.Replace the battery if it takes more than10 seconds to charge. USING THE SELF-TIMER 1. Compose your picture with the camera on a steady support or fixed on a tripod. 2. Press the Self-timer Button.The Self-timer LED will light 2HZ for about 7 seconds.Then,the LED will blink 8HZ for about 1.5 seconds the last 1.5 seconds indicator LED will light, to indicate that the shutter will release soon.After a total 10 seconds have elapsed,the shutter will release. (Fig.10) · If you wish to clear the self-timer once it has started,close the Lens cover or press the Selftimer Button again. TAKING PICTURES Open the lens cover by Sliding the lens Cover Switch in the direction of arrow.(Fig.11) · Lens Shield is interlocked with the safety mechanism of the camera.You can fire the camera only when the Lens cover is completely open. · For subjects that are less than 0.8m away from the camera,it is not possible to obtain sharp focus. 1. Look through the Viewfinder and aim at your subject. 2. When ready,press the Release button. * During flash charge,Release is locked. AUTO-FOCUS SHOOTING 1. Set the subject you wish to take within the AutoFocus Frame in the center of the Viewfinder (Fig. 12) 2. Press the Shutter Release Button halfway. 3. Gently press the Shutter Release Button down to take the picture. The film will advance automatically as soon as the shutter has closed. · Make sure the subject is at least 0.8m(2.6ft) away from the camera. If you want to focus on a subject that is not in center of your picture,use the focus lock function described below.(Fig. 13) 1. Aim the camera at the subject you want to focus on. 2. Press the shutter release button half way · Be careful not to press the shutter release button all the way down to avoid taking an unwanted picture. 13 12 ¥...'RW-1 12-13 10/5/00, 9:06 AM 3. Keeping the shutter release button depressed recompose your picture desired. · Hold the camera steady and gently press the shutter release button fully down. · The focus lock can be canceled by lifting your finger from the shutter release button. · Be careful not to accidentally cover the Auto-focus Sensor Windows on the front of your camera,as this will cause incorrect focusing. · Keep the Auto-focus Sensor Windows clean to ensure accurate focusing.If they get dirty,they should be wiped clean with a soft cloth. REWINDING THE FILM 1. After the end of the film has been reached,the film will automatically rewind. 2. After the film is fully rewound and"S" is seen in the Film counter Window. · Be careful not to touch the inner lens surface with your fingers or the edge of film. TAKING CARE OF YOUR CAMERA Your camera is precision instrument and a sophisticated machine designed and manufactured to give you reliable and longlasting service.If you care for and handle this camera properly,you are going to be satisfied by its excellent and elegant design. The following careless handling may cause major damages: 1. Dropping and/or banging the camera,which may damage it in many ways.(Fig. 15) 2. Dropping into water or water damage.Your camera is not water-proof,particularly when it is submerged in salty water.It must be protected from salty breezes or sprays at the beach,any kind of splashing and rain.If your camera gets wet,please wipe it dry immediately and have it examined at an assigned service center.(Fig. 16) 3. Temperature and humidity.You have to avoid subjecting the camera to extreme high or low temperature and humidity,since the battery will not function properly in extreme temperature conditions.Extreme temperature and humidity may cause serious damage of rusting to your camera.(Fig. 17) 4. Viration from traveling in a car,ship or airplane could cause loosening screws or damage the camera itself.Padding the bottom of your camera with foam-rubber could minimize this problem. 5. The shutter mechanism and moving parts of this camera could be damaged by dirt as well as sand, so your camea has to be cleaned periodically to keep it operating properly.(Fig. 18 ) 6. Make sure the tripod screw fits your camera when mounting it on a tripod.Please be re15 MID-ROLL REWIND If you wish to rewind the film before reaching the end of the film,push the Mid-roll Rewind Button,no matter the lens cover is open or close.The film starts to rewind immediately.(Fig. 14) 14 ¥...'RW-1 14-15 10/5/00, 9:06 AM SPECIFICATIONS minded that a longer tripod screw might puncture and damage the camera. 7.
