ADi6 dB MAX Active Direct Box
· Uses 9-Volt or standard phantom power for power supply · Ground Lift for "hum" reduction · Variable Attenuation for precise level control · Parallel or Mixed input jacks
The ADi6 is an active direct box for converting a high impedance signal such as a direct out from a bass amplifier, to a low impedance signal such as a snake input and a mixer's microphone input. The Ground Lift is provided to reduce possible ground hum or buzz, a variable Attenuation control provides precise level adjustement, and the unit may be powered via 9 volt battery, or phantom power from a mixer.

Owners Manual
Congratulations and thank you for your purchase of the ADi6 dB MAX direct box. The ADi6 is a durable and cost effective unit designed to take a high impedance line-level or speaker level audio signal and convert that signal to low impedance. DESCRIPTION INPUT jacks: Two 1/ 4" Tip Sleeve unbalanced jacks for connection to the ADi6 high impedance 3 Active Direct Box signal to be bal2 + anced. OUTPUT 1 INPUT switch: Selects Parallel input INPUTS -8 -3 -12 or Mixed input. In Parallel mode, the -22 tips of the two input jacks are shorted -40 GND LIFT dB 0 together providing PARALLEL ON you with a "passLIFTED OFF/PHAN MIXED through" jack. In Mixed mode, a series of resistors are inserted in line, allowing a stereo signal to be mixed to mono. ATTENUATION control: Adjusts the input level to the ADi6. Fully clockwise, the ADi6 does not attenuate the incoming signal. As the control is turned counterclockwise, the input signal is attenuated by the indicated amount. GROUND LIFT switch: When pressed in, the chassis ground is connected to pin 1 of the XLR Output. When the switch is out, the chassis ground is disconnected. BATTERY switch: When pressed in, the ADi6 will be powered via a 9 volt battery, the ACTIVE LED will light. When out, the unit is powered via phantom power. OUTPUT jack: Balanced XLR jack for connecting to the input of a mixer.

This example shows the ADi6 connected to an instrument. The INPUT switch is in, the unused 1/4" jack may be connected to an instrument tuner. The ATTENUATION is at 0 dB, and the GROUND LIFT is in meaning the chassis ground is connected to pin 1 of To Mixer the XLR jack. If the unit is to be Microphone powered via 9 volt battery, the Input BATTERY switch should be in, if the unit is powered via phantom power from the mixer, the BATTERY switch should be out.

OPERATION In order for the ADi6 to function via phantom power, it must be connected to a microphone phantom power source with a balanced XLR cord. The input may be anything from a speaker source such as a music amplifier, VCR or projector, to an instrument such as a guitar or High-impedance microphone. Press the INPUT switch in to short the two input jacks together allowing for signal "pass-through", or leave the switch out to mix stereo signals together. Set the ATTENUATION control and GROUND LIFT switch for best signal level and lowest noise. Press the BATTERY switch in for 9 volt battery operation, or set the switch out for operation via phantom power.

This example shows the mixing capabilities of the ADi6. A stereo source is shown connected to both 1/4" inputs, and the INPUT switch is out. This mixes the right and left signals to mono, and balances the combined signal to be sent to a mixer. The ATTENUATION control, GROUND LIFT switch, and BATTERY switch should all be set for proper operation.
