Te r we Po Mo Co de ry/F an ol/D ver E.Sa p Slee er Tim eed n Sp Fa E S DB98-15117A Safety Precautions The following safety precautions must be take when installing and using your air conditioner. 1 The air conditioner must be plugged into its own specific power source, which must be installed in conpliance with national wiring , earthing and safety regulations. Depending on national regulations and your specific installation, you may need to install: A circuit breaker For further information on electrical requirements, contact a professional electrician. This device must be installed according to the national electrical rules. 2 Make sure that the unit is correctly ventilated at all times; do NOT place clothing or other materials over it. 3 NEVER spill liquids of any kind into the unit. Should this happen, unplug the unit and contact your installation specialist. 4 Do NOT insert anything between the air outlet blades, as it may damage the inner fan and you may get hurt. Keep children away from the unit. 5 If the supply cord is damaged, it must be replaced by the manufacturer, its service agent or similarly qualified persons in order to avoid a hazard. 6 Do NOT attempt to repair the unit yourself. If it is damaged in any way, contact: An authorized service center The dealer from whom you purchased the air conditioner. 7 Do NOT place any blocking objects in front of the unit. 8 If the remote control will not be used for a long time, remove the batteries. 9 Before throwing out the device, it is necessary to pull back the battery cells and get rid of them safely. 10 The appliance is not intended for use by young children or infirm person without supervision; young children should be supervised to ensure that they do not play with the appliance. 11Do NOT use an extension cord with this product. Your Owner's Instructins contain much valuable information on using your air conditioner. Please tade the tine to read then as they will help you take full advantage of the unit's feaatures. The booklet is organized as follows. The following figures are shown on pages 4 and 5: Description of Each Component Remote control(buttons&display) They will help you find the buttons and understand the symbols dispalyed. In the main part of the document, you will find a series of step-by-step pricedures for each function available. The illustrationsin the step-by-step procedures use foru different symbols: PRESS PUSH IMPORTANT NOTE E-6 Inserting the Remote Control Batteries You must insert or replace the remote control batteries when : You purchase the air conditioner The remote control does not work correctly Use two AAA, LR03 1.5V batteries. Do not use old batteries or different kinds of batteries together. Batteries may be completely discharged after 12 months, even if they have not actually been used. 1 Push the battery cover on the rear of the remote control with your thumb in the direction of the arrow and remove it. Insert the two batteries, taking care to respect the polarities : + on the battery with + on the remote control. - on the battery with - on the remote control. Close the cover by sliding it back until it clicks into place. 2 3 E-7 Using the Control Panel on the Unit p. E-8 Cooling Your Room You must select the Cool mode if you wish to lower the temperature in your room. You can also set the Fan speed. 1 Press the Result: (On/Off) button. The air conditioner starts up in the cool mode. The unit beeps twice. Control Panel Power The air conditioner is fitted with a protection mechanism to prevent the unit from being damaged when it is started immediately after being: Plugged in Stopped It will start up normally after three minutes. 2 If the temperature is not displayed on the control panel: Press the button on the unit one or more times until the temperature is displayed. Mode Cool/Dry/Fan Result: The unit beeps each time you press the button. The air conditioner starts up in the Cool mode. Cool/Dry/Fan Mode You can chang modes at any time. 3 To adjust the temperature, press the Result: or buttons on the unit one or more times until the desired temperature is displayed. The temperature can be set between 64 Fand 86 F. Each time you press the or buttons: -The temper ature is adjusted by 1 F and displayed on the control panel -The unit beeps The air conditioner starts cooling, if the room temperature is higher than the selected temperature. If the room temperature reaches the set temperature, the air conditioner stops cooling, but the fan is still operating. 4 To set the fan speed: Press the button on the unit one or more times until the desired the Fan speed(F1, F2 or F3) is displayed. Fan Speed F1:Low F2:Medium F1:High 5 To control the direction of the air flow, refer to page 24. E-9 Airing Your Room Airing Your Room If you want to provide air circulation without cooling, you can use the Fan mode. Control Panel 1 If necessary, press the Result: (On/Off) button. Power The air conditioner starts up in the cool mode. The unit beeps twice. 2 If the fan speed(F1, F2 or F3) is not displayed on the control panel: Press the button on the unit one or more times until the fan speed (F1, F2 or F3) is displayed. Mode Cool/Dry/Fan Result: The unit beeps each time you press the button. The air conditioner starts up in the Fan mode. Mode Cool/Dry/Fan You can change modes at any time. When the air conditioner is in the Fan mode, the temperature cannot be set or displayed. F1:Low F2:Medium F1:High 3 To set the fan speed: Press the button on the unit one or more time until the desired fan speed(F1, F2 or F3) is displayed. Fan Speed F1:Low F2:Medium F1:High 4 To control the direction of the air flow, refer to page 24. E-10 E-10 Removing Excess Humidity If the atmosphere in your room is very humid or damp,you can remove excess humidity without lowering the room temperature too much. Control Panel 1 If necessary, press the Result: (On/Off) button. The air conditioner starts up in the Cool mode. The unit beeps twice. Power The air conditioner is fitted with a protection mechanism to prevent the unit from being damaged when it is started immediately after being: Plugged in Stopped It will start up normally after three minutes. 2 If the temperature is not displayed on the control panel: press the button the unit one or more times until the temperature is displayed. Result: The unit beeps each time you press the button. The air conditioner starts up in the cool mode. Possible temperatures are between 64 F and 86 F inclusive. Result: Each time you press the or buttons: - The temperature is adjusted by 1 F - The unit beeps The air conditioner starts removing the excess humidity; the quantity of air is adjusted automatically. 4 To control the direction of the air flow, refer to page 24. EE-11 Setting the On Timer Control Panel Power The On Timer enables you to switch on the air conditioner automatically after a given time, You can select the On Timer only when the air conditioner is off. You can select the On timer when the air conditioner operates in the Cool or Dry mode. 1 Check that the air conditioner has been switched off; if necessary, press the (On/Off) button. 2 Set the operating time by pressing the Timer button on the unit one or more times until the desired time is displayed. The operating time can be set between 1 and 24 hours. Result: Each time you press the Timer buton: - The time is adjust by 1 hour and displayed on the control panel - The unit beeps The operating time is displayed and decreases automatically to indicate the remaining time. The air conditioner starts up in the Cool mode automatically when the operating time reaches zero. You can select the fan speed, temperature and Energy saving mode after setting the On timer and Off timer mode. However, when you change the mode, the On timer and Off timer mode is cancelled. To Cancel the On Timer 1 To cancel the timer, press the until "--" is displayed. button on the unit one or more times Timer 2 Press the (On/Off) button on the unit. E-12 Setting the Off Timer The Off Timer enables you to switch off the air conditioner automatically after a given time. You can select the On timer only when the air conditioner is on. You can select the Off timer when the air conditioner operates in the Cool or Dry mode. Control Panel 1 Check that the air conditioner has been switched on; if necessary, press the (On/Off) button. Power 2 2 Set the operating time by pressing the Timer button on the unit one or more times until the desired time is displayed. The operating time can be set between 1 and 24 hours. Result: Each time you press the Timer button: - The time is adjusted b y 1 hour and displayed on the control panel - The unit beeps The operating time is displayed and decreases automatically to indicate the remaining time. The air conditioner switches off automatically when the operating time reaches zero. You can select the fan speed, temperature and Energy saving mode after setting the On timer and Off timer mode. However, when you change the mode, the On timer and Off timer mode is cancelled. To Cancel the Off Timer 1 To cancel the timer, press the times until "--" is displayed. Timer button on the unit one or more 2 Press the (On/Off) button on the unit. E-13 3 Setting the Sleep Timer The Sleep Timer can be used when your are cooling your room to switch the air conditioner off automatically after 8 hours. Control Panel If you wish to switch the unit off at a specific time, refer to page 13. Power 1 Make sure that you have selected the Cool mode. 2 Press the Result: button on the unit. Each time you press a button, the unit beeps. The " " will be displayed. The remaining time is displayed and decreased by 1 hour automatically to indicate the remaining time.
