Activating Your Phone
When you subscribe to a cellular network, you are provided with a plug-in Subscriber Identity Module (SIM) card loaded with your subscription details, such as your Personal Identification Number (PIN), any optional services available, and many others. We suggest that you read this guide to fully understand the services your phone supports.
Installing the SIM Card
Section 1 Important! The plug-in SIM card and its contacts can be easily damaged by scratches or bending, so be careful when handling, inserting, or removing the card. Keep all SIM cards out of the reach of small children.
If necessary, switch off the phone by pressing and holding the key until the power-off image displays. If necessary, remove the battery by doing the following: 1. Slide the battery lock (1) toward the top of the phone and hold it in that position, as shown.
2. Lift the battery (2) away from the phone.

Activating Your Phone
Insert the SIM card by doing the following: 1. Gently slide the SIM card into the SIM card socket so that the card locks into place. Make sure the gold contacts of the card face into the phone.

2. Place the battery so that the tabs on the end align with the slots at the bottom of the phone (1).
3. Press the battery down (2) until it clicks into place. Make sure that the battery is properly installed before switching on the phone.

Note: When you need to remove the SIM card, remove the battery and slide the SIM card, as shown below, and take it out of the socket.

Charging the Battery
Your phone is powered by a rechargeable Li-ion battery. A partially-charged battery comes with your phone. A travel adapter comes with your phone for charging the battery.
Important! Use only approved batteries and chargers. Ask your local Samsung dealer for further details.
You can use the phone while the battery is charging, but this causes the phone to charge more slowly.
