Slide the cover in the direction of the arrow to gain access to the battery compartment 10 insert 2 AAA(UM-4) batteries into the compartment.Make sure that batteries are positioned in accordance with the diagram located below batteries in battery compartment. Replace cover. Note: [1] A low battery icon E appearing on the LCD display indicates a weak and replacement is necessary. [2] To ensure that the preset memory and time are not lost during battery replacement make sure that power on/off switch 5 is in the off position and that the batteries are replaced within 3 minutes. 6 Setting Time When batteries are installed for the first time the LCD display time digit will flash indicating that the time needs to be set. The clock can be set with the power off but the lockswitch 3 must be off. To set time press Time Set Button 8 for more then 2 seconds until hour digit flashes. While hour digit is flashing use Time Adjust Buttons 13 and 14 to select the correct hour. Pressing Time Set Button 8 again will cause the minite digit to flash. Use same procedure as hour set to set minite set. Press Time Set Button 8 to finalize time setting. Long Term Alarm Set Press Standby Button 11 for more than 2 seconds until hour digit flashes. Press Time Adjust Button 13 and 14 to set the required hour and then Press the Standby Button 11 again to cause the minute button to flash. Set minute desired same way as hour was set. Press Standby Button again to finalize setting. 7 LCD will return to real time and Standby Set icon F will appear in display . A buzzer will sound when set time is reached and will continue for at least 3 mimutes or until it is stopped by pressing the Power On/Off Button. Short Term Alarm Set This receiver is equipped with a short term 1-180minute timer.To set timer Press the Alarm Set Button 9 for more than 2 seconds until LCD alarm set icons B appears time digit flashes.During flashing press Time Adjust Button 13 14 to adjust to desired time . Press Alarm Set Button 9 again to finalize setting . A buzzer will sound when set time is reached and will continue for at least 3 minutes or until it is stopped by pressing the Power On /Off Button. 14 8 RADIO OPERATION Antenna/Earphone Use The earphone cord acts as an antenna during reception of FM/TV/Weather Band(DT-300/300V/300VW)channels and should be extended as much as possible to improve sensitivity. Insert the earphone into the earphone jack 6 for earphone operation . When listening with the built-in speaker the enclosed pig tail trailing antenna should be inserted into the earphone jack which will provide antenna function. A built-in Ferrite Antenna is used for AM reception and it is only necessary to rotate the radio for maximum dignal strength . No other external antenna is repuired . Speaker On/Off Switch The built-in speaker may be turned on or off using the Speaker Switch 7 . The speaker switch must be in the off position with the earphone plugged into the earphone jack to receive FM stereo programs. Stereo icon C will appear in the display. 9 Volume Control The volume may be adjusted by using the Volume Control Adjustment 1 Tuning the Radio Band Frequency AM 520-1710kHz/ 522-1629kHz FM 87.5-108MHz Antenna Internal-Rotate radio for best reception External-Make sure earphone or pig tail antenna is inserted into earphone jack. TV CH.2-13(VHF) External-Make sure earphone or (DT-300V/DT-300VW) pigtail antenna is inserted into earphone jack. 10 WX CH.0-9 External-Make sure earphone or pigtail antenna is inserted into Earphone jack A.Scan Tuning Turn on the radio by pressing On/Off Button 5 . Select the desired band by pressing Band Selection Button 8 Press and hold the Tuning Control Button 13 or 14 for more than 1/2 second . The radio will start to scan and will stop at the first active station. Repeating the procedure will start the scan again.The receiver will automatically turn itself off after 90 minutes of operation or you may turn it off at anytime by pressing the On/Off Button 5 B.Manual Tuning Turn on the radio by pressing On/Off Button 5 . Select the desired band by pressing Band Selection Button 8 . Desired station may be selected by either pressing the Tuning Control 13 or 14 intermittently . 11 until the desired station is reached or pressing and holding the Tuning Control 13 or 14 until the station is reached. C. Setting Presets Manually Turn on receiver by pressing On/Off Button 5 .Select desired band by pressing Band Selector Button 8 .Tune to the desired station using the Manual or Scan Tuning Method as described above. When the desired station is reached press Memory Button 11 . "Memo" flashes in the LCD display and a suggested preset position flashes. Press Memory Button 11 again if flashing position is suitable and desired station will appear in the position selected. If you would prefer to locate desired station in a position other than that suggested use Memory Selection Button 13 or 14 to move to chosen postion.After selection is complete press Memory Button again to complete Selection.You may store a total of 9 stations for each band Original stations are eliminated or exchanged when a new 12 station is selected to take its place. When the memory is full for a particular band pressing the Memory Selection Button 11 will cause all the positions to flash. In this case,select the desired position. press the Memory Selection Switch 11 and the original station will be eliminated and the new station will take its place. D.Selecting Memory Presets Turn on receiver by pressing On/Off Button 5 . Select desired band by pressing Band Selector Button 8 Move the Select Cursor L to the Memory Positions H by Pressing Select Button 12 . Select desired preset position using Memory Up/Down Buttons 13 or 14 E. Automatic Memory Preset System (APS) This receiver is equipped with an Automatic Memory Preset System that will automatically select. based upon signal strength. and assign positions to stations on the band you select.Turn on receiver by pressing 13 On/off Button 5 .Select desired band by pressing Band Select or Button 8 . Press Memory Button 11 . Memo will flash in display. Press Select Button 12 for move than 2 seconds until auto/memo appears and flashes in display. press memory Button 11 again. The receiver will automatically begin to scan and set memory preset positions. It will dliminate any memory presets already with in the band. F.Memory Scan Play Turn on receiver by pressing On/Off Buttons 5 .Select desired band by pressing Band Selector Button 8 .Select a preset station with in band selected. Make sure the Select Cursor L is in the Memory Position H by pressing Select Button 12 . Press Tuning Control Button 13 or 14 for more than 1/2 second and release. Display will show auto and flash The receiver will scan each preset,play for about 2 seconds and go on to the next preset. Press Tuning Control Button 13 or 14 will stop scaning and select station desired. 14 Note: If the Select Cursor L points at the frequency the Tuning Control Up/Down Button 13 14 will continue to change frequency within the band selected. If the Selector Cursor L points at the position digits for the memory presets H the Tuning Control Up/Down Button 13 and 14 will select the memory presets. 14 G.Deleting Memory Positions If The memory is full or you would like to delete a memoey position select the preset youy would like to delete.Press Memory Button 11 , display will flash "memo" Then press Select Button 12 , display will flash "memo" and "delete" Press Memory Button 11 again and selected preset position will be deleted. Weather Band (WX) Reception-DT-300VW only The DT-300VW has 10 fixed channels (0-9) for reception of NOAA weather band. In most cases channels 1-3 of the NOAA frequencies will cover the majority of U.S. Areas. 15 Mono/Stereo Button Monaural or Stereo headphone reception may be selected durning FM reception by alternately pressing the Mono/Stereo Button 9 The Speaker On/OffSwitch 7 must be in the Off Lock Switch To Prevent accidental changing of any of the radio settings move the Look Switch 3 to the locked position. When engaged in the locked position the icon key D will appear in the LCD display. To release the lock switch simply move the switch to the off position. Make sure lock Switch 3 is in off position when radio is to be used as radio is completely inoperative until lock switch is released.
