Connect the passenger yellow 2-way connector located near the base of the steering column. 7 2. Install the connector position assurance (CPA) to the passenger yellow 2-way connector. CAUTION: Air bags/SIR MUST be disabled before removing factory stereo. Consult with the service department at your local GM car dealership for Radio Removal Instructions. Instructions concerning Disabling and Enabling the SIR System should only be performed by authorized GM technicians. In no event shall Scosche be responsible for claims beyond the replacement value of the defective product, or in any way liable or responsible for consequential or incidental damages. Preliminary, Early Release Information Preliminary, Early Release Information WARNING: Air bags may deploy if tampered. Disabling the SIR System Preliminary, Early Release Information 1. Turn the steering wheel so that the vehicle's wheels are pointing straight ahead. 2. Turn OFF the ignition. 3. Remove the key from the ignition switch. 4. Remove the SIR Fuse from the fuse block. IMPORTANT: With the SIR Fuse removed and the ignition ON, the AIR BAG warning lamp illuminates. This is normal operation, and does not indicate a SIR system malfunction. 5. Remove the IP insulator panel. Refer to Insulator Replacement - IP in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console. 6. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the driver yellow 2-way connector located at the base of the steering column. Preliminary, Early Release Information 8 3. Connect the driver yellow 2-way connector located at the base of the steering column. 9 4. Install the connector position assurance (CPA) to the driver yellow 2-way connector. Preliminary, Early Release Information DOOR CHIME SPEAKER INSTALLATION When installing the GM06 into a vehicle with an integrated door chime, the factory door chime will no longer operate. A low level amplifier plus speaker or low wattage speaker is necessary to regain the door chime. POWER/SPEAKER WIRES White = Left Front Positive (LF+). White/Black = Left Front Negative (LF-). Gray = Right Front Positive (RF+). Gray/Black = Right Front Negative (RF-). Green = Left Rear Positive (LR+). Green/Black = Left Rear Negative (LR-). Violet = Right Rear Positive (RR+). Violet/Black = Right Rear Negative (RR-). Yellow = 12V Battery/ Constant. Red = 12V Ignition/ Switched. Black = Chassis Ground. Orange/White = Illumination. 1 Preliminary, Early Release Information Preliminary, Early Release Information 10 5. Install the IP insulator panel. Refer to Insulator Replacement - IP Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console. 6. Install the SIR Fuse in the fuse block. 7. Staying well away from both air bags, turn ON the ignition. A. The AIR BAG warning lamp will flash seven times. B. The AIR BAG warning lamp will then turn OFF. 8. Perform a Diagnostic System Check - SIR if the AIR BAG warning lamp does not operate as described. 2 7. Disconnect the driver yellow 2-way connector. 3 8. Remove the Connector Position Assurance (CPA) from the passenger yellow 2-way connector located near the base of the steering column. Preliminary, Early Release Information Preliminary, Early Release Information DOOR CHIME OUTPUT Pink = Positive. Pink/Black = Negative. NOTE: On 2000-UP Cavalier and Impala vehicles utilizing the RDS radio, there is a seperate plug located under passenger side of dash behind glove box. This plug has (4) wires: orange = +12V; yellow = +12VACC; black = Ground; purple = Not Used. This plug should be used for installation of aftermarket radios in these vehicles. The plug is also referenced as to it's location in the vehicle owner's manual. NOTE: Accessory Power - The Factory Accessory wire (In the GM06 harness) is data- controlled and generated by the Factory radio.
