Style TNC Solder-type Connector Thank you for purchasing a Shakespeare antenna product. Shakespeare works hard to build reliability and durability into all of its products for maximum customer satisfaction. Customer comments are welcome. Before installing, please study the diagram and check parts supplied against those listed. IMPORTANT! Please read all instructions before installing. Supplied Parts 1 Connector Assembly Figure 1 1/4" The Style "TNC" is a solder-type connector for installation on coax cable. It provides a sturdy, weather-resistant connection for marine electronics applications. Tools required: Needlenose pliers, soldering iron (40-watt min.), resin core solder, pocket knife, wire cutters, 7/16" wrench or crescent wrench. Figure 2 Nut Washer Gasket 1/4" 1/8" Installation Instructions 1. Slide Nut, Washer, and Gasket over the cable. Strip outer jacket beginning ¼" from the end of the cable as shown in Figures 1 and 2. 2. Comb out the shield braid and fold it back as shown in Figure 2. Remove the cable dielectric beginning 1/8" from the end. Be careful not to nick the center conductor. 3. Fold the braid forward over the dielectric and taper toward the center conductor. Slide Clamp over braid until it fits squarely against the cable jacket. See Figure 3. 4. Fold the braid over the clamp and distribute evenly. Trim off any excess braid. 5. Slide the center pin over the center conductor and solder it. See Figure 2. (Remove any excess solder from the outside of the center conductor.) 6. Slide the entire assembly into the connector body, making sure the center conductor seats securely into the front of the connector and is flush with the end of the connector body. Tighten the nut with a wrench to complete the installation. See Figure 3.
