This solution offers a high data rate and reliable wireless connectivity with considerable cost savings over wired LANs (which include long-term maintenance overhead for cabling). Just install enough wireless access points to cover your network area, plug wireless cards into your notebooks, and start networking. Using this card in conjunction with SMC 11b/11g wireless access points, you can create an instant network that integrates seamlessly with Ethernet LANs. Use them again to repack the product if there is a need to return the product. 4 HARDWARE DESCRIPTION The EZ Connect Wireless Cardbus Adapter provides 11 Mbps connections. It is fully compliant with the specifications of the IEEE 802.11b standard. The adapter can be installed in any notebook with a CardBus type II or type III slot. LED Indicator The EZ Connect Wireless Cardbus Adapter includes one status LED indicator, as described in the following figure and table. Link/Act LED Link/Act Status On Green Flashing Description The adapter is associated to the Wireless LAN. The adapter is transmitting/receiving data. 5 DRIVER AND UTILITY INSTALLATION DRIVER AND UTILITY INSTALLATION The installation CD that comes with the package contains all the software available for the EZ Connect Wireless Cardbus Adapter. Any new or updated drivers can be downloaded from SMC's web site at: http://www.smc.com You may find that the instructions here do not exactly match your version of Windows. This is because these steps and screen shots were created from Windows XP. Windows 98, Windows Millennium Edition, and Windows 2000 are similar, but not identical, to Windows XP. Notes: 1.For Windows 98 users, installation processes may require the use of your original copy of Windows OS. Please prepare the Windows OS CD before proceeding with the installation. 2. It is recommended that you install the utility and driver software first, before inserting the adapter into your laptop. 6 DRIVER AND UTILITY INSTALLATION 1.
