The minimum system requirements for Scenarist HD DVD Edition and Scenarist BD Edition include: · Windows ® XP Professional, Service Pack 2, 32-bit · 2 x Dual-Core Intel ® Xeon ® processor 5160 3.0 GHz with 4 MB L2 cache 1333 MHz front side bus · 4 GB DDR2 SDRAM · Microsoft ® Windows Media Player 10 Series · Microsoft Internet Explorer 5.0 or later · Microsoft DirectX 9.0c · CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive · Monitor with minimum 1600x1200 screen resolution (1920x1200 recommended) and 32-bit color support · 800 MB of hard drive space on system drive for Sonic applications and related files · USB port for security dongle (1 port required per authoring module) GRAPHICS CARDS HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc Authoring The following graphics card are approved for use with Scenarist HD DVD Edition and Scenarist BD Edition: · NVIDIA Quadro FX1400 · NVIDIA Quadro FX3450 · NVIDIA Quadro FX4500 · NVIDIA Quadro FX4500 SDI RECOMMENDED PERIPHERALS HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc Authoring To further enhance your Scenarist HD DVD Edition and Scenarist BD Edition system with HD-SDI preview, Sonic recommends the following peripherals. · HD-SDI preview solutions: - HD-SDI output device - NVIDIA Quadro FX-4500 SDI. For more information visit www.nvidia.com - HD-SDI reference monitor - External reference monitor with HD-SDI input · Local RAID array for storage of uncompressed source files. RAIDs must meet the following minimum requirements: - 8 or more u320 drives, 10,000 rpm and software striped as Raid 0 or Raid 5 - Controlled via Ultra 320 SCSI Card (PCI or onboard) or Fiber-channel interface with a 4Gb bandwidth Please note that this information is based on Sonic's own testing and experience. This should be seen as complimentary to further advice from the chosen RAID and capture system manufacturers as well as your local Sonic representative. Configuration Guide, Scenarist - 01/31/07 Page 2 of 4 SONIC ® CONFIGURING THE NVIDIA QUADRO FX-4500 SDI FOR HD-SDI PLAYBACK The following steps should be taken to achieve correct HD-SDI playback from Scenarist HD DVD Edition and Scenarist BD Edition: 1. Ensure that the latest version of the NVIDIA Forceware drivers have been installed. 2. Within the control panel for the FX-4500, select "Full Screen Video" in the tree-view and ensure that the Full screen video device is set to "Disable". 3. Enable the "Graphics to SDI" option and set the resolution to the video resolution that you are working with. In most cases it is best to also set the frame-rate/refresh rate of the SDI display to the frame-rate of the video that you playing back. 4. In the NVIDIA properties select the "Full Screen Video" option and set "Full Screen Device" to "Auto-select". ADDITIONAL SYSTEM SUPPORT HD DVD and Blu-ray Disc Authoring The Hewlett Packard xw9300 system is also approved for use with Scenarist HD DVD Edition and Scenarist BD Edition but is no longer commercially available. The minimum system requirements include: · 1 x Dual-Core 2.2 GHz AMD 275 Opteron processor with AMD64 Technology. Recommended Option: 2 x Dual-Core 2.2 GHz AMD 275 Opteron processors with AMD64Technology · 1 GHz AMD HyperTransport Bus · 2 GB of RAM per processor (up to 4 GB recommended) SYSTEM REQUIREMENTS SD DVD Authoring The minimum system requirements for Scenarist SD include: · Windows XP Professional, Service Pack 1 (32-bit) · 800 MHz Intel Pentium ® III processor or faster · 256 MB of system memory (RAM) · Microsoft DirectX 8.1 · CD-ROM or DVD-ROM drive · Available PCIe slot for Parhelia preview hardware (optional) · Monitor with minimum 1024x768 screen resolution (1280x1024 recommended) and 24-bit color support (32-bit recommended) · 40 MB of hard drive space on system drive for Sonic applications and related files · Sufficient hard drive space for disc images and DVD volumes · USB port for security dongle Note: Hard drives for disc images and DVD volumes must be formatted with the NTFS file system to support files larger than 4GB. VIDEO AND AUDIO MONITORING SD DVD Authoring To monitor video and audio in Scenarist SD you will need an NTSC or PAL video monitor with S-Video input and powered audio monitors. Please contact your nearest Sonic representative to ensure your drive is supported. SCSI ADAPTORS SD DVD Authoring Scenarist SD supports the Adaptec 2940 and 39160 SCSI adaptors.
