SIM card When you register as a subscriber with a network operator, you get a SIM (Subscriber Identity Module) card. The SIM card contains a computer chip that keeps track of your phone number, the services included in your subscription, and your contacts information, among other things. Save contacts on your SIM card before you remove it from another phone. To insert the SIM card and charge the battery 30 min 2.5 h 1 Slide the cover open and lift it off. 2 Insert the SIM card. Some functions use more battery power than others and may cause a need for more frequent re-charging. Memory Stick MicroTM (M2TM) Your phone supports Memory Stick MicroTM (M2TM). A memory card adds more storage space to your phone for, for example, music, ringtones, video clips and pictures. To insert and remove a Memory Stick MicroTM (M2TM) 1 Open the cover and insert the memory card (with the contacts facing down). 2 Press the edge to release and to remove. PIN You may need a PIN (Personal Identification Number) from your network operator to activate the services in your phone. Each PIN digit appears as *, unless it starts with emergency number digits, for example, 112 or 911. Start up menu Each time you turn on the phone, you can select to listen to music only - instead of using the phone with full functionality. Music only means all transmitters of the phone are turned off, preventing disturbance of sensitive equipment, for example, in an airplane or in a hospital. You cannot make calls, receive calls, or send messages, but you can receive calendar and task reminders and the alarm sounds. You can only use the Walkman® player. Always follow regulations and any flight crew instructions with respect to onboard use of electronic devices. Showing or hiding your phone number If your subscription supports the Calling Line Identification Restriction, you can hide your number when making a call. Call time During a call, the duration of the call is shown. You can check the duration of your last call, outgoing calls and the total time of your calls. Contact your service provider about the services you can use or visit www.sonyericsson.com/support. Text messaging (SMS) Text messages can contain pictures, animations, melodies and sound effects. Before you start A service centre number is provided by your network operator for you to send and receive text messages. It may be on the SIM card or you can add the number yourself. To set a service centre number 1 From standby select Menu } Messaging } Settings } Text message } Service centre. The number is shown if it is saved on the SIM card. 2 If there is no number } New ServiceCentre and enter the number, including the international "+" sign and country code } Save. To write and send a text message 1 From standby select Menu } Messaging } Write new } Text message. 2 Write your message. To insert an item in your message } More } Add item. 3 } Continue. Entertainment Walkman® player The Walkman® player is an all in one music and video player. The following file types are supported: MP3, MP4, 3GP, AAC, AMR, MIDI, IMY, EMY and WAV (16 kHz maximum sample rate). You can also use streamed files that are 3GPP compatible. Transferring music Disc2Phone computer software and USB drivers are included on the CD that comes with your phone. Use Disc2Phone to transfer music from CDs or your computer to your phone memory or Memory Stick MicroTM (M2TM) in your phone. Your computer needs to have one of the following operating systems to be able to use Disc2Phone: Windows® 2000 SP3/SP4, XP Home SP1/SP2 or XP Professional SP1/SP2. To install Disc2Phone 1 Turn on your computer and insert the CD that comes with your phone. The CD starts automatically and the installation window opens. 2 Select a language and click OK. 3 Click Install Disc2Phone and follow the instructions.
