If the battery has a sufficient charge, the BATTERY CHECK lamp (green lamp) will light while pressing the BATTERY CHECK button. If the BATTERY CHECK lamp starts to blink, that means that the battery does not have a sufficient charge. It is recommended that you change the battery. If the BATTERY CHECK lamp does not light or blink, that means that the battery must be replaced.
Using this unit
By attaching this unit to the camera, you can attach the external device compatible with hot shoe like a wireless flash sync system to the camera and use it with following steps.

1 Turn off the power of the camera and slide
the accessory shoe cap of the camera.

2 Turn off the units power and slide the
mounting foot into the auto-lock accessory shoe of the camera.
Slide the mounting foot of this unit firmly until it clicks. Before using this unit, close the built-in camera flash. When using this unit with a camera that has an auto flash function, set the auto flash function to "OFF."

3 Slide the external device in the direction of
the arrow to attach it firmly to the hot shoe of this unit.
Notes For details about handling the external device, refer to the external device operating instructions. Depending on the external device, you cannot attach it to this unit. Competitor flashes are not recommended because they are not compatible with the flash system.

Changing the batteries
Use a button type 3V lithium battery (CR1220) with this unit.
1 Slide the battery-chamber cover in the
direction of arrow to remove the cover.
Turn off the power of this unit when replacing the battery.

Depending on the time elapsed since manufacture of the batteries, their life may vary from the values described in this operating instructions, even if this unit is provided with new batteries. We recommend having spare batteries. It should be noted that battery capacity decreases as temperatures drop. Allow the battery to return to normal room temperature to restore the battery to its normal charge.
3 As illustrated, press the battery lightly with
your finger not to pop out and press the battery with a flat-tipped insulator in the direction of the arrow to remove the battery.
Be careful not to pop out the battery when removing it.
4 Put the battery "+" pole facing upward, and
fit the battery into its holder as illustrated.

A rapid increase in temperature causes condensation to form inside this unit. If you need to bring this unit directly in from the cold to a warm environment, place the unit in a plastic bag while you are outdoors, and try to extract as much air as you can from inside the bag before sealing the bag. You can remove the unit from the bag when the air temperature around the bag has had a chance to gradually rise.

This unit is not waterproof. If it comes in contact with water, wipe it dry with a clean cloth and take it to the nearest Sony dealer immediately. Never attempt to disassemble this unit.
