Waffle Maker USER MANUAL Model 3852 00 IMPORTANT SAFEGUARDS READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS BEFORE USE. When using electrical appliances, basic safety precautions should be followed: Do not touch hot surfaces. Use handles. To protect against electrical shock, do not immerse cord, plug or heating unit in water or other liquid. Close supervision is necessary when any appliance is used by or near children. Unplug from outlet when not in use and before cleaning. Allow to cool before cleaning the appliance. Do not operate any electrical appliance with a damaged cord or plug or after the appliance malfunctions or has been dropped or damaged in any manner. Return appliance to nearest Sunbeam Appliance Authorized Service Center for examination, repair or electrical or mechanical adjustment. Do not use outdoors. Take care to never let a power cord hang over the edge of a table or counter, or touch any hot surface. Do not place appliance on or near a hot gas stove flame or electrical elements in a heated oven or microwave oven. Do not use appliance for other than intended use. When using this appliance, provide adequate airspace above and on all sides for air circulation. On surfaces where heat may cause a problem, an insulated hot pad is recommended. Do not leave unit unattended during use. Always use the product on a clean, flat, hard, dry surface. There should be no material such as a tablecloth or plastic between the unit and surface. If scraping is necessary, turn the power OFF and use a rubber spatula only. POWER CORD INSTRUCTIONS Please follow the instructions below to ensure the safe use of the power cord. This appliance has a polarized plug (one blade is wider than the other). To reduce the risk of electrical shock, this plug will fit in a polarized outlet only one way. If the plug does not fit fully into the outlet, reverse the plug. If it still does not fit, contact a qualified electrician. Do not modify the plug in any way. Do not pull, twist or otherwise abuse the power cord. Do not wrap the power cord around the main body of the waffle maker during or after use. Table of Contents Important Safeguards Welcome Learning About Your Waffle Maker How to Use Your Waffle Maker Creative Waffles Cleaning and Storing One-Year Limited Warranty How To Obtain Warranty Service Inside Cover 1 2 2 4 5 6 7 1 LEARNING ABOUT YOUR WAFFLE MAKER Red Light (Power On) Green Light (Ready Light) Appliance Body Safety Latch HOW TO USE YOUR SUNBEAM® WAFFLE MAKER Preparing your waffle maker for use 1. Open Waffle Maker by lifting the upper handle. 2. Before using for the first time, clean cooking plates with soft cloth or sponge, dampened with hot, soapy water. Do not immerse Waffle Maker in water. Wipe with dampened cloth or sponge and wipe dry. 3. When using for the first time, "season" the grids by rubbing lightly with cooking oil. Should sticking occur in later usage, reseason your Waffle Maker. Preparing Waffles 1. Close Waffle Maker and plug into outlet. Use only voltage specified on bottom of Waffle Maker. The Power light (Red) and Ready light (Green) will come on. Caution: Touch Waffle Maker only by handles during use or directly after use. Take care not to touch hot surfaces. 2. The Waffle Maker is ready for initial use when the Ready (green) light goes out (approximately 2-4 minutes). 2 3. Open Waffle Maker, pour approximately 3/4 cup waffle batter onto grids. For best results, pour batter around outer edge of waffle maker. Close cover. It is very typical to have a small amount of batter run over grid and down Waffle Maker. However, if an excessive amount of batter runs over, use less batter. 4. Close the Waffle Maker by lowering the upper plate onto the lower plate and secure with the safety latch. Do not open cover while steam is escaping. Most waffles bake in approximately 2-4 minutes, depending on personal taste. Waffles are generally done when the Ready light (green) goes out and when steam no longer escapes from sides and front of Waffle Maker. 5. When waffles are done, remove with a fork or wooden tongs. Note: Be careful you do not scratch the non-stick cooking surface. 6. Close cover and wait for Ready light to go out before preparing another batch of waffles. The next waffle may be baked in less time because the plate will store heat. Hints For Tasty Waffles 1. Do not over mix waffle batter. Beating egg whites separately and folding them into the batter will create a lighter, crispier waffle. 2. Completely bake waffles before removing them from the Waffle Maker. 3. Do not open the waffle maker while steam is escaping from the sides and front of the Waffle Maker. 4. Why not freeze prepared waffles for those busy days ahead? Just bake the waffles as directed. Cool on a wire rack and wrap in moisture-proof paper or plastic. Quickly reheat in your toaster oven, broiler, or microwave oven. 3 CREATIVE WAFFLES Let your imagination be your guide to many exciting and tasty meals with your Sunbeam Waffle Maker. Here are a few suggestions: Breakfast and Brunch Top crispy waffles with: Butter, Syrup, Honey, Molasses, Apple Butter, Pie Filling, Whipped Cream, Yogurt, Fruit Preserves, Fresh Fruit. Dessert Serve dessert waffles hot or cold. Prepare a richer batter such as Belgian-Style Waffles or Chocolate Brownie Waffles. Top with your favorite sweet `n tasty ingredients which might include: Sweetened Fresh Berries, Ice Cream, Powdered Sugar, Chopped Nuts, Sundae Sauces, Fruit Yogurt. 4 CLEANING AND STORING 1. Unplug and allow Waffle Maker to cool before cleaning. 2. Wipe the inside and edges of plates with paper towels or a soft cloth. 3. Clean waffle grids with cloth or sponge dampened with hot, soapy water. Do not immerse Waffle Maker in water or any other liquid. Rinse with a dampened cloth or sponge and wipe dry. 4. To remove cooked-on foods, use a nylon scrub pad or non-abrasive cleaner. Do not use a steel wool pad or abrasive cleanser which will damage the non-stick surface. 3. Should any filling be difficult to remove, pour a little cooking oil onto the plate and wipe off after 5 minutes, when the filling has softened. 4. Wipe the outside with a slightly moistened cloth, ensuring that no moisture, oil, or grease enters the cooling slots. 5. Do not clean the inside or outside with any abrasive scouring pad or steel wool, to prevent damaging the finish. 6. Store in a closed position. Waffle Maker stands on end for convenient storage. Use cord wrap on the bottom of the Waffle Maker for cord storage. 7. Any servicing required should be performed only by an authorized service facility. 8. This appliance is for household use only.
