Unpublished rights are reserved under the copyright laws of the United States. ix A Using the SyQuest Utilities SyQuest provides Windows 95, Windows 3.1x, and DOS utilities for managing EZFlyer cartridge functions such as cartridge formatting, file duplication, and back-up. Other utilities include setting write protection and locking or unlocking the cartridge. These self-documenting utilities are automatically installed with the SyQuest device-driver software, as instructed in Chapter 3. To access the SyQuest utilities: · Windows 95 users double-click the SyQuest Win95 Utility icon. · Windows 3.1x users double-click the SyQuest Windows Utilities icon. · DOS users type SQSHELL. Note: OS/2 and Windows NT users must boot their system under DOS and run the program SQATPREP to use these utilities. This program is located on the SyQuest Installation Diskette. A-1 EZFlyer Cartridge Features SyQuest provides these utilities for the EZFlyer cartridge: Write-Protect Mode: EZFlyer cartridges are shipped from the factory ready to record data (write protection disabled). Use the write-protect utility to enable or disable write protection. Lock or Unlock: (for Windows 3.1x, OS/2, and DOS only) This feature controls the eject-button function. When locked, you must send a software Unlock command and depress the eject button on the EZFlyer drive to remove a cartridge. OS/2 always locks an EZFlyer drive. Under OS/2, right-click on the EZFlyer drive icon and select Unlock to remove a cartridge. Windows 95 and Windows NT Version 4.0 automatically lock an EZFlyer drive while writing ...
