The ventilation holes should not be covered. Make sure there is at least 20 cm of space above and at least 5 cm of space on each side of the unit. Do NOT place anything on top of the unit. < The voltage supplied to the unit should match the voltage as printed on the rear panel of the supplied subwoofer. If you are in any doubt regarding this matter, consult an electrician. < Choose the installation location of your unit carefully. Avoid placing it in direct sunlight or close to a source of heat. Also avoid locations subject to vibrations and excessive dust, heat, cold or moisture. < Do not place the unit on an amplifier/receiver or any other electronic device that generates heat. < Do not open the sealed cabinet as this might result in damage to the circuitry or electrical shock. If a foreign object should get inside the unit, contact your dealer or service agency. < When removing the power plug from the wall outlet, always pull directly on the plug, never yank the cord. < To keep the laser pickup clean, do not touch it and always close the disc tray. < Do not attempt to clean the unit with chemical solvents as this might damage the finish. Use a clean, dry cloth. < Keep this manual in a safe place for future reference. DO NOT MOVE THE UNIT DURING PLAYBACK During playback, the disc rotates at high speed. Do NOT lift or move the unit during playback. Doing so may damage the disc or the laser assembly. WHEN MOVING THIS UNIT When relocating or packing the unit for moving, be sure to remove the disc. Moving this unit with the disc loaded may result in damage to this unit. CAUTION The product shall not be exposed to dripping or splashing and that no object filled with liquids, such as vases, shall be placed on the product. Do not install this equipment in a confined space such as a book case or similar unit. 4 Discs Discs which can be played on this unit: · Conventional audio CDs bearing the COMPACT DISC DIGITAL AUDIO logo on the label: < CD-R and CD-RW discs are more sensitive to the effects of heat and ultraviolet rays than ordinary CDs. It is important that they are not stored in a location where direct sunlight will fall on them, and away from sources of heat such as radiators or heat-generating electrical devices. < Printable CD-R and CD-RW discs aren't recommended, as the label side might be sticky and damage the unit. < Do not stick papers or protective sheets on the discs and do not use any protective coating spray. < Use a soft oil-based felt-tipped pen to write the information on the label side. Never use a ball-point or hard-tipped pen, as this may cause damage to the recorded side. ENGLISH < Never use a stabilizer. Using commercially available CD stabilizers with this unit will damage the mechanisms and cause them to malfunction. < Do not use CDs with an irregular shape (octagonal, heart shaped, business card size, etc.). CDs of this sort can damage the unit: < Always place the disc on the disc tray with the label side up. (Compact discs can be played or recorded only on one side.) < To remove a disc from its storage case, press down on the center of the case and lift the disc out, holding it carefully by the edges. < If you are in any doubt as to the care and handling of a CD-R/ CD-RW disc, read the precautions supplied with the disc, or contact the disc manufacturer directly. · Properly finalized CD-R and CD-RW discs Note: < Depending on the quality of the disc and/or the condition of the recording, some CD-R/CD-RW discs may not be playable. < Copy-protected discs and other discs that do not conform to the CD standard may not play back correctly in this player. If you use such discs in this unit, TEAC Corporation and its subsidiaries cannot be responsible for any consequences or guarantee the quality of reproduction. If you experience problems with such non-standard discs, you should contact the producers of the disc. How to remove the disc How to hold the disc MP3 compatibility < Should the disc become dirty, wipe the surface radially (from the center hole outward towards the outer edge) with a soft, dry cloth: < File names of MP3 should be alphanumeric characters. This unit cannot display symbols and full-size or 2 bytes-wide characters (such as Japanese, Chinese, etc.) correctly. Also, be sure to use the file extension ".mp3". < The disc must be finalized in order to play. < Never use such chemicals as record sprays, antistatic sprays or fluid, benzine or thinner to clean the discs. Such chemicals will do irreparable damage to the disc's plastic surface. < Discs should be returned to their cases after use to avoid dust and scratches that could cause the laser pickup to "skip." < Do not expose discs to direct sunlight or high humidity and temperature for extended periods. Long exposure to high temperatures will warp the disc. < Do not play any disc that is warped, deformed or damaged. Playing such discs may cause irreparable harm to the playing mechanisms. < The CD-ROM must be ISO 9660, Joliet or Romeo compatible. < When more than 500 files or 200 folders are recorded on the disc, the unit might not be able to play it correctly. < Mono or stereo MPEG-1 Audio Layer 2 or 3 format, 32, 44.1 or 48 kHz, fixed bit-rate. 5 Unit Functions A B C D E F M L K J I H G a H b c G F J I E D 6 A POWER a Numeric buttons Press this switch to turn the unit on or off. The equipment draws a nominal amount of power from the AC outlet even with its POWER switch in the OFF position. Use these buttons to select tracks. b ESP/MP3 B Disc tray During playback of a MP3 disc, use this button to search track name. During playback of CD, use this button to switch the ESP function on or off. C OPEN/CLOSE Use this button to open and close the disc tray. c INTRO CHECK Use this button to start the Intro Check. D PLAY/PAUSE (y/J) Use this button to start or pause playback of CD/MP3. E STOP (H) Note: To simplify explanations, instructions in this manual refer to the names of the buttons and controls on the front panel only. Associated controls on the remote control will also operate similarly. ENGLISH Use this button to stop playback of CD/MP3. F SKIP (.//) / SEARCH (m/,) Use these buttons to skip tracks. Hold down these buttons to search for a part of a track. G MP3 FOLDER During playback of a MP3 disc, use these buttons to select a folder in the disc. Voltage Conversion (General export models only) H PROGRAM Use this button to programme tracks. I REPEAT Use this button for repeat playback. J SHUFFLE Use this button for shuffle playback. K Display L Remote Sensor When operating the remote control unit, point it towards here. Be sure to remove the power cord from the AC outlet before repositioning the voltage converter switch. 1. Locate the voltage selector on the rear panel. 2. Using a flat-bladed screwdriver, set to the appropriate 230V or 120V position according to your area. IN NORTH AMERICA USE ONLY ON 120 V SUPPLY. M PHONES For private listening, insert the headphones plug into this jack, and adjust the volume by turning the LEVEL knob. 7 Connection CAUTION < Turn off the power of all the equipment before making connections. < Read instructions of each component you intend to use with this unit. < Be sure to insert each plug securely. To prevent hum and noise, do not bundle the connection cords with the power cord. CD-P1260 Remote Control Unit The provided Remote Control Unit allows the unit to be operated from a distance. When operating the remote control unit, point it towards the remote sensor on the front panel of the unit. < Even if the remote control unit is operated within the effective range (5m), remote control operation may be impossible if there are any obstacles between the unit and the remote control. < If the remote control unit is operated near other products which generate infrared rays, or if other remote control devices using infrared rays are used near the unit, it may operate incorrectly. Conversely, the other products may operate incorrectly. A Battery Installation RL B CD IN Amplifier 1. Remove the battery compartment cover. 2. Insert two "AA" (R6 or SUM-3) dry batteries. Make sure that the batteries are inserted with their positive "+ " and negative "_" poles positioned correctly. A LINE OUT jack Analog 2-channel audio signal is output from this jack. Connect this jack to the CD input jack of the amplifier with an RCA cable. Make sure to connect : white plug q white jack (L: left channel) red plug q red jack (R: right channel) 3. Close the cover. Battery Replacement If the distance required between the remote control unit and main unit decreases, the batteries are exhausted. In this case replace the batteries with new ones. Precautions concerning batteries < Be sure to insert the batteries with correct positive "+" and negative "_" polarities. < Use batteries of the same type. Never use different types of batteries together. < Rechargeable and non-rechargeable batteries can be used. Refer to the precautions on their labels. < When the remote control unit is not to be used for a long time (more than a month), remove the batteries from the remote control unit to prevent them from leaking. If they leak, wipe away the liquid inside the battery compartment and replace the batteries with new ones. < Do not heat or disassemble batteries and never dispose of old batteries by throwing them in a fire. B AC Power Cord After all other connections are complete, connect the plug to the AC wall socket. Be sure to connect the power cord to an AC outlet which supplies the correct voltage. Hold the power plug when plugging or unplugging the power cord. Never pull or yank on the power cord. 8 Listening to CD/MP3 (1) 4 Press the OPEN/CLOSE button to close the CD door. 3 2 4 1 5 < It takes a few seconds for the unit to load the disc. No buttons will work during loading. Wait until the total number of the tracks and the total play time of the disc are displayed. 1 Press the POWER switch to turn the unit on. < When no disc is loaded in the CD player, "NO DISC" is displayed. When a CD is loaded 2 Press the OPEN/CLOSE button. If the disc is not correctly loaded, it may not be possible to open the tray again once it has closed, so you should ensure the disc is always centrally loaded in the tray. < Do not force the tray by hand during opening and closing operations. Playback starts from the first track of the disc. < MP3 tracks recorded out of folders are automatically put in the "ROOT" folder,.and playback starts from the first track of the ROOT folder. < When the playback of all the tracks has finished, the unit stops automatically. 9 Listening to CD/MP3 (2) To suspend playback temporarily (pause mode) To skip to the next or a previous track Press the Play/Pause button (G/J) during playback. Playback stops at the current position. To resume playback, press the Play/Pause button (G/J) again. During playback, press the skip button (. or / ) repeatedly until the desired track is found. The selected track will be played from the beginning. In the stop mode, press the skip button (. or / ) repeatedly until the track you want to listen to is found. Press the Play/Pause button (G/J) to start playback from the selected track. < When the . button is pressed during playback, the track being played will be played from the beginning. To return to the beginning of the previous track, press the . button twice. < During programmed playback, the next or previous track in the programme is played. To stop playbacks Press the Stop button (H) to stop playback. Search for a part of a track During playback, hold down the skip button (. or /) and release it when the part you want to listen to is found. Direct Playback While in stop or playback mode, you can use the numeric buttons of the remote control unit to select a track. Select a track using the numeric buttons, and within 10 seconds press the PLAY/PAUSE button. Playback starts from the selected track. For instance, to select track number 35, press "3" and "5". To play tracks 1 to 9, simply press the corresponding buttons (1 to 9). < Direct playback isn't possible during shuffle playback and programmed playback. 10 Listening through headphones For private listening, insert the plug from your headphones into the PHONES jack, and adjust the volume by turning the LEVEL knob. CAUTION Always lower the volume level prior to plugging in your headphones. TO AVOID DAMAGING YOUR HEARING - Do not place your headphones on your head until after you have plugged them in. To display the MP3 information During playback of MP3 disc, press the MP3 button for more than 1 second. The information about the current track is displayed as follows: Filename w Title w Artist w Album ENGLISH < NONE appears when there is no information. < UNKNOWN appears when the unit cannot read the information. Press the MP3 button for more than 1 second again to cancel the MP3 information mode. ESP (Electronic Shock Protection) Skip to the next folder (MP3) Press the MP3 FOLDER buttons to skip folders. The ESP stores the music in the buffer to prevent sound from skipping. During playback of a CD, press the ESP button to turn the ESP on or off. When you turn the ESP on, "40 SEC (40 seconds)" briefly appears, and the ESP indicator lights on the display. < The ESP indicator blinks while the unit is filling the buffer. < When the unit is on the stable place and free from mechanical shocks, you can turn this function off. < During playback of MP3, this function is always ON. 11 Repeat Playback Every time the REPEAT button is pressed, the mode is changed as follows: When a CD is loaded. REPEAT REPEAT ALL (off) When a MP3 disc is loaded. REPEAT REPEAT ALL (off) < If one of the following buttons is pressed, repeat mode will be canceled: STOP, INTRO CHECK, POWER, OPEN/CLOSE REPEAT ALBUM Repeat one track (REPEAT) Press the REPEAT button once during playback. "REPEAT" lights. The track being played will be played repeatedly. If you press the Skip button (.or/) and select another track, the track you selected will be played repeatedly. It is also possible to select a track to be repeated in the stop mode. Press the REPEAT button, select a track using the Skip button (.or/), and then press the Play/Pause button (G/J) to start playback. Repeat all the tracks (REPEAT ALL) All the tracks will be played repeatedly. Press the REPEAT button twice. "REPEAT ALL" lights. During programmed playback, programmed tracks will be played repeatedly. Repeat all the tracks in the folder (REPEAT ALBUM) (MP3 only) All the tracks in the folder will be played repeatedly. Press the REPEAT button three times. "REPEAT ALBUM" lights. 12 Shuffle Playback Intro Check The tracks can be played randomly. Press the SHUFFLE button during playback or when in the stop mode. "SHUFFLE" will then light up in the display. < If you press the / button during shuffle playback, next track will be randomly selected and played. If you press the . button, the currently played track will be played from the beginning. A track cannot be replayed during shuffle playback. < Shuffle playback doesn't work during programmed playback. < If one of the following buttons is pressed, shuffle mode will be cancelled: SHUFFLE, STOP, INTRO CHECK, POWER, OPEN/CLOSE Press the INTRO CHECK button in the stop or play mode. The INTRO indicator lights on the display, and the beginning of all the tracks is played for 10 seconds each. When a track you want to listen to is found, press the INTRO CHECK button to resume normal playback. ENGLISH < To skip to the next or a previous track, press the SKIP button. < To stop Intro Check function, press the STOP button. < Repeat and shuffle playback don't work during the intro check. < If one of the following buttons is pressed, the intro check mode will be cancelled: INTRO CHECK, SHUFFLE, STOP, POWER, OPEN/CLOSE 13 Programmed Playback Up to 64 tracks can be programmed in the desired order. Shuffle function doesn't work during programmed playback. 3 Press the numeric buttons (or press the Skip button (.or/) repeatedly) to select a track, then press the PROGRAM button. 1 Press the PROGRAM button in the stop mode. CD MP3 The track is programmed, and "P-02" is displayed. < Repeat steps 2 and 3 to program more tracks. < You can program up to 64 tracks. The MEMORY indicator appears on the display. < To cancel the program mode, press the Stop button (H). 2 Press the numeric buttons (or press the Skip button 4 When the selection of track numbers is completed, (.//) repeatedly) to select a folder on a MP3 disc, then press the PROGRAM button. press the Play/Pause button (G/J) to start programme playback. < When the playback of all the programmed tracks has finished, or if the STOP button is pressed, the MEMORY indicator will go off and the program mode will be cancelled. You can return to the programmed playback by pressing the PROGRAM button and the PLAY/PAUSE button (G/J). < MP3 tracks recorded out of folders are in the "01" (ROOT) folder. < Skip this step when playing a CD. 14 To check the programmed order To overwrite the program In the stop mode, press the PROGRAM button repeatedly until the program number to be changed appears on the display. Select a new track number using the numeric buttons or the Skip button (. or/ ) and then press the PROGRAM button. To clear program In the stop mode, press the PROGRAM button repeatedly. The track number and program number will be shown on the display. ENGLISH To add a track to the end of the program In the stop mode, press the PROGRAM button repeatedly until "00" appears on the display. Select a track number using the numeric buttons or the Skip button (.or/) and then press the PROGRAM button. The track is added to the end of the program. To clear the programmed contents, press the PROGRAM and the STOP button (H) in the stop mode. < If the OPEN/CLOSE button or the POWER switch is pressed, the programmed contents will also be cleared. 15 Search Mode (MP3 only) Search for a name of track You can select the track by searching for its name. 1 Press the MP3 button once. 4 Select the track that has same initial letter by pressing the SKIP button (. or /). An alphabet (initial letter of a track name) and a track name are displayed. Track name Track number 5 Press the PLAY/PAUSE button (G/J). Playback starts from the selected track. Initial letter of track name < To cancel the search mode, press the STOP button (H). 2 Select the initial letter of the track you want to listen to by pressing the SKIP button (. or /). 3 Press and hold the SKIP button (. or /). 16 Search for a track in a folder 1 Press the MP3 button twice. 4 Select the track in the folder by pressing the SKIP button (. or /). 5 Press the PLAY/PAUSE button (G/J) to start playback. ENGLISH The name of folder is displayed. 2 Press the SKIP button (. or /) to find the folder that the track you want to listen to is included. Playback starts from the selected track. < If you skip steps 3 and 4 , playback will start from the first track in the selected folder. < MP3 tracks recorded out of folders are in the "ROOT" folder. 3 Press and hold the SKIP button (. or /). 17 Troubleshooting If you have problems with your system, look through this chart and see if you can solve the problem yourself before calling your dealer or TEAC service center. No power e Check the connection to the AC power supply. Check and make sure the AC source is not a switched outlet and that, if it is, the switch is turned on. Make sure there is power to the AC outlet by plugging another item such as a lamp or fan into the outlet. Remote control doesn't work. e Press the POWER switch of the main unit to turn it on. e If the batteries are dead, change the batteries. e Use remote control unit within the range (5 m) and point at the front panel. e Clear obstacles between the remote control unit and the main unit. e If a strong light is near the unit, turn it off. No sound e Check the connection to the amplifier. e Check the operation of the amplifier. Will not play. e Load a disc with the playback side facing down. e If the disc is dirty, clean the surface of the disc. e A blank disc has been loaded. Beware of condensation When the unit (or a disc) is moved from a cold to a warm place, or used after a sudden temperature change, there is a danger of condensation; vapor in the air could condense on the internal mechanism, making correct operation erratic or impossible. To prevent this, or if this occurs, leave the unit for one or two hours with the power turned on. The unit will stabilize at the temperature of its surroundings. Ne Pas soulever ou déplacer l'appareil durant la lecture. Celà peut endommager l'appareil. QUAND VOUS DÉPLACEZ L'APPAREIL Quand vous changez l'endroit où l'appareil est installé ou si vous l'emballez, enlevez le disque. Ensuite, éteignez l'appareil et débranchez le. Le transport de cet appareil avec un disque à l'intérieur peut l'endommager. ATTENTION Ne pas exposer l'appareil à l'humidité ou aux projections d'eau; ne pas poser d'objets contenant de l'eau, tels qu'un vase, ou un liquide quelconque, sur l'appareil. Ne pas installer l'appareil dans un endroit clos tel qu'une bibliothèque ou un meuble fermé. 20 Disque Compact Disques pouvant être lus avec ce lecteur : · CD audio classiques, portant le logo CD-DA sur l'étiquette: < Les disques CD-R et CD-RW sont plus sensibles aux effets de la chaleur et aux rayons ultraviolets que les disques compacts ordinaires. Il est donc particulièrement important de les ranger dans un endroit à l'abri de la lumière directe du soleil et de toute source de chaleur, telle que des radiateurs ou des appareils électriques, susceptibles de dégager de la chaleur. < Il est déconseillé d'utiliser des disques CD-R et CD-RW inscriptibles, la face portant l'étiquette risquant d'être collante et d'endommager l'appareil. < Ne jamais coller d'étiquette ou de feuille de protection sur le disque; ne pas utiliser de spray destiné à déposer sur le disque une couche de protection. < Utiliser, pour écrire des informations sur la face portant l'étiquette, un feutre utilisant une encre à base d'huile. FRANÇAIS < Placer toujours le disque sur le plateau, la face imprimée sur le dessus (les disques compacts ne sont enregistrés que sur une seule face.) < Pour sortir un disque de son emballage, appuyer sur la partie centrale de l'étui et sortir le disque en veillant à bien le tenir par les bords. Cet appareil ne permet pas d'afficher correctement les symboles ou les caractères de 2 octets (tels que les caractères japonais, chinois, etc.) Veiller également à ce que les noms de fichiers comportent bien l'extension ". mp3". < Ne jamais utiliser de produits chimiques, tels que des sprays, des liquides antistatiques, de l'essence ou des diluants pour nettoyer les disques. Ces produits chimiques risquent de provoquer des dégâts irréparables sur la surface en plastique du disque. < Ranger les disques dans leur étui après utilisation afin d'éviter de les rayer ou que de la poussière ne se dépose, ceci pouvant compromettre la lecture par la tête laser < Ne pas exposer les disques à la lumière directe du soleil, à une température élevée ou à une humidité excessive pendant une période prolongée. De telles expositions risquent de provoquer une déformation du disque. < Le disque doit être finalisé pour pouvoir être lu. < Le CD-ROM doit être compatible ISO 9660, Joliet ou Romeo. < Si vous enregistrez plus de 200 fichiers ou répertoires MP3 sur un disque, l'appareil risque de ne pas les lire correctement. < Format audio mono ou stéréo MPEG-1 Layer 2 ou 3, 32, 44,1 ou 48 kHz, débit binaire fixe. 21 Nom des commandes respectives A B C D E F M L K J I H G a H b c G F J I E D 22 A POWER M PHONES Appuyez sur cet interrupteur pour allumer ou éteindre l'appareil. Pour éviter tout bourdonnement ou bruit, n'attachez pas les cordons de raccordement avec le cordon d'alimentation. CD-P1260 Boîtier de télécommande Le boîtier de télécommande fourni permet la commande à distance defourni permet la commande à distance de l'appareil. Pour l'utilisation du boîtier de télécommande, le diriger vers le détecteusation du boîtier de télécommande, le diriger vers le détecteur de télécommande du panneau avant de l'appareil. < Même si le boîtier de télécommande est activé dans la zone de fonctionnement, la commande à distance peut être impossible s'il y a des obstacles entre le lecteur et le boîtier de télécommande. < Si le boîtier de télécommande fonctionne dans le voisinage d'autres appareils générant des rayons infrarouges, ou si d'autres télécommandes utilisant des rayons infrarouges sont utilisées près du lecteur, le lecteur peut de ne pas bien fonctionner. Dans la situation inverse, les autres apaareils peuvent ne pas bien fonctionner. A Mise en place des piles RL B CD IN Amplificateur 1. Retirer le couvercle du compartiment des piles. A Prise LINE OUT Un signal analogique 2 canaux est disponible sur cette prise. Raccordez-la à la prise d'entrée CD de l'amplificateur avec un câble RCA. Veillez à brancher: la fiche blanche q la prise blanche (L: voie gauche) la fiche rouge q la prise rouge (R: voie droite) 2. Introduire deux piles « AA » (R6 ou SUM-3). S'assurer que les piles sont correctement mises en respectant les polarités plus + et moins _. 3. Fermer le couvercle jusqu'au déclic. B Cordon d'alimentation (AC) Bien brancher le cordon d'alimentation sur une prise de courant qui fournit la tension correcte. < Tenir la fiche d'alimentation en branchant ou débranchant le cordon d'alimentation. < Pour débrancher le cordon d'alimentation de la prise murale, tirez directement sur la prise, ne tirez jamais sur le cordon. Remplacement des piles Si vous remarquez que la distance entre le boîtier de télécommande et le lecteur devient plus courte pour un fonctionnement correct, ceci indique que les piles sont usées. Dans ce cas, remplacer les piles par des nouvelles. Précautions à observer concernant les piles < Bien placer les piles en respectant les polarités plus + et moins _ . < Utiliser des piles du même type. Ne jamais essayer d'utiliser des types de pile différents ensemble. < Des piles ou des batteries peuvent être utilisées. Se référer à leurs étiquettes pour les précautions à respecter. < Si le boîtier de télécommande n'est pas utilisé pendant une longue période (pluss d'un mois), retirer les piles du boîtier de télécommande pour éviter des fuites de pile. Si elles coulent, essuyer le liquide dans le compartiment des piles et remplacer les piles par des neuves. < Ne pas chauffer, démonter les piles ni les mettre au feu. 24 Écoute des CD/MP3 (1) 4 Appuyez sur la touche OPEN/CLOSE pour fermer le 3 2 4 tiroir. 1 5 < L'appareil met quelques secondes à charger le disque. Pendant le chargement, aucune touche n'est opérante. Patientez jusqu'à ce que le nombre total de plages et le temps total de lecture du disque s'affichent. 2 Appuyez sur la touche POWER pour mettre l'appareil en marche. < Lorsque aucun disque n'est chargé dans le lecteur CD, "NO DISC" s'affiche. Lorsqu'un CD est chargé 2 Appuyez sur la touche OPEN/CLOSE. nombre total de plages temps total de lecture FRANÇAIS 3 Placez un disque sur le tiroir, face imprimée vers le haut. Lorsqu'un disque MP3 est chargé nombre total de dossiers nombre total de plages 5 Appuyez sur la touche Lecture/pause (y/J) pour lancer la lecture. < Ne mettez jamais plus d'un disque sur le tiroir. < Le disque doit être centré dans le tiroir. Si le disque n'est pas correctement positionné, le tiroir risque de ne pas pouvoir s'ouvrir après s'être refermé, aussi devez vous vous assurer que le disque est bien placé au centre dans le tiroir. < Ne forcez pas le tiroir au cours des manoeuvres d'ouverture et de fermeture. La lecture commence à la première plage du disque. < Les plages MP3 enregistrées à l'extérieur des dossiers sont automatiquement mises dans le dossier "ROOT (RACINE)", et la lecture démarre à la première plage du dossier RACINE. < Une fois la lecture de toutes les plages terminée, l'appareil s'arrête de lui-même. 25 Écoute des CD/MP3 (2) Pour interrompre la lecture temporairement (mode de pause) Pour sauter à la plage suivante ou précédente Appuyez sur la touche de lecture/pause (G/J) pendant la lecture. La lecture s'arrête à la position actuelle. Pour poursuivre la lecture, appuyez de nouveau sur la touche de lecture/pause (G/J). Pendant la lecture, appuyez sur la touche de saut (. ou/ ) de manière répétée jusqu'à ce que vous trouviez la plage désirée. La plage sélectionnée est lue depuis le début. En mode d'arrêt, appuyez sur la touche de saut (. ou /) de manière répétée jusqu'à ce que vous trouviez la plage que vous désirez écouter. Appuyez sur la touche de lecture/pause (G/J) pour lancer la lecture à partir de la plage sélectionnée. < Si vous appuyez sur la touche . pendant la lecture, la plage en cours de lecture est lue à partir du début. Pour retourner au début de la plage précédente, appuyez deux fois sur la touche .. < Pendant la lecture programmée, la plage suivante ou précédente du programme est lue. Pour arrêter la lecture Appuyez sur la touche d'arrêt (H) pour arrêter la lecture. Recherche d'un passage sur une plage Pendant la lecture, maintenez enfoncée la touche de saut (. ou /) et relâchez-la lorsque vous trouvez le passage que vous désirez écouter. Accès direct à des plage spécifiques En mode d'arrêt ou de lecture, les touches numériques sur la télécommande servent à sélectionner des plages. Dans les 10 secondes apès avoir sélectionné une plage, appuyez sur la touche de lecture/pause (y/J). La lecture de la plage sélectionnée se mettra en route. A titre d'exemple, pour sélectionner la piste 35, appuyez sur 3 et puis sur 5; pour sélectionner la piste 5, appuyez sur 5 sans appuyer sur 0. < L'accès direct n'est pas disponible pendant la lecture aléatoire et celle programmée. 26 Ecoute avec un casque Pour l'écoute privée, introduisez la fiche du casque dans cette prise puis réglez le niveau au moyen du bouton LEVEL. Attention: Baissez toujours le niveau du volume avant de brancher le casque d'écoute. POUR EVITER DE CAUSER DES TROUBLES DE L'OUIE ­ Ne mettez pas votre casque d'écoute sur la tête tant que vous ne l'avez pas branché. Pour afficher les informations MP3 Pendant la lecture d'un disque MP3, appuyez sur la touche MP3 pendant plus de 1 seconde. Les informations sur la plage actuelle s'affichent comme suit: FILE w TITLE w ARTIST w ALBUM < NONE apparaît quand il n'y a pas d'information. < UNKNOWN apparaît quand l'appareil ne peut pas lire l'information. Appuyez de nouveau sur la touche MP3 pendant plus de 1 seconde pour annuler le mode d'informations MP3. FRANÇAIS ESP (Protection électronique contre les chocs) Saut vers le dossier suivant (MP3 seulement) Appuyez sur la touche MP3 FOLDER pour sauter vers le dossier suivant. La fonction ESP stocke musique dans une mémoire tampon de manière qu'il n'y ait pas de coupure dans le son. Pendant la lecture d'un CD, appuyez sur la touche ESP pour mettre la fonction ESP en ou hors service. Quand on met la fonction ESP en service, "40 SEC" (40 secondes) apparaît un bref instant et l'indicateur ESP s'allume sur l'affichage. < Pendant le remplissage de la mémoire tampon, l'indicateur ESP clignote. < Quand l'appareil se trouve sur une surface stable et n'est pas exposé à des chocs mécaniques, vous pouvez mettre cette fonction hors service. < Pendant la lecture de MP3, cette fonction est toujours en service. 27 Lecture répétée À chaque pression sur la touche REPEAT, le mode change comme suit: Lorsqu'un CD est chargé. REPEAT REPEAT ALL (off) Lorsqu'un disque MP3 est chargé. REPEAT REPEAT ALL (désactivation) < Si vous appuyez sur l'une ou l'autre des touches suivantes, le mode de lecture répétée est annulé: STOP, INTRO CHECK, POWER, OPEN/CLOSE REPEAT ALBUM Répétition d'une plage (REPEAT) Appuyez une fois sur la touche REPEAT pendant la lecture. « REPEAT » s'allume. La plage en cours de lecture est lue de manière répétée. Si vous appuyez sur la touche de saut (. ou/ ) et sélectionnez une autre plage, la plage sélectionnée est lue de manière répétée. Il est aussi possible de sélectionner une plage à lire de manière répétée alors que l'appareil est en mode d'arrêt. Appuyez sur la touche SHUFFLE pendant la lecture ou en mode d'arrêt. « SHUFFLE » s'allume alors sur l'afficheur. < Si vous appuyez sur la touche / pendant la lecture aléatoire, la plage suivante est sélectionnée de manière aléatoire et lue. Si vous appuyez sur la touche ., la plage en cours de lecture est lue depuis le début. La lecture d'une plage déjà lue n'est pas possible pendant la lecture aléatoire. < La lecture aléatoire n'est pas possible pendant la lecture programmée. < Si vous appuyez sur l'une ou l'autre des touches suivantes, le mode de lecture aléatoire est annulé: SHUFFLE, STOP, INTRO CHECK, POWER, OPEN/CLOSE Appuyez sur la touche INTRO CHECK en mode d'arrêt ou de lecture. L'indicateur INTRO s'allume sur l'affichage et l'appareil reproduit les 10 premières secondes de toutes les plages. Insérez un disque préenregistré. e Suivant le disque, etc., certains disques CD-R/CD-RW ne peuvent pas être lus. Essayez avec un autre disque. e La lecture des disques CD-R/CD-RW non finalisés n'est pas possible. S'il s'agit d'un tel disque, finalisez-le avec un enregistreur CD et réessayez. Le son n'est pas stable. e Placez l'appareil sur un support stable de façon à éviter les vibrations et les chocs. e Si le disque est sale, nettoyez sa surface. e Evitez d'utiliser des disques rayés, abîmés ou voilés.
