The Transcend 6-in-1 Card Reader/Writer is an easily installed device, which only needs a USB interface to allow its use by any PC, Mac or notebook computer. Power on the computer where you will connect the 6-in-1 Card Reader/Writer and make sure the USB port is enabled and working properly (Please don't plug your 6-in-1 Card Reader/Writer into the USB port at this time). Insert the Driver CD into the CD-ROM drive. Run the Setup.exe program located within folder Win98_2k of the Driver CD. 2. 3. 4. The Install Shield Wizard will guide you through the installation process. Restart your computer to complete driver installation. 2 Hardware Setup 1. 2. Connect the ends of the USB extension cable into the 6-in-1 Card Reader/Writer and the available USB port of your computer. Your computer will automatically recognize the 6-in-1 Card Reader/Writer and show the "New Hardware Found" windows. Windows will install the files needed to use your device. 3. Four Removable Disk drives with newly assigned drive letters will appear in My Computer. The 6-in-1 Card Reader/Writer is ready for use. 3 To Uninstall You can uninstall the 6-in-1 Card Reader/Writer and driver by running Add/Remove Programs in Settings/Control Panel. Follow the on-screen instructions to complete the process. Please make sure the red LED light on the device is off before unplugging under Windows 2000. Driver Installation for Windows Me and Windows XP The Transcend 6-in-1 Card Reader/Writer is a driver-free device for Windows Me and Windows XP. You can connect it to an available USB port via the USB extension cable and don't have to install a special driver. Windows Me and Windows XP will detect the device and install all the associated files required for its use automatically. The process sequence is listed below: 4 Four Removable Disk drives with newly assigned drive letters will appear in My Computer. The 6-in-1 Card Reader/Writer is ready for use. Note: 1. Removal of 6-in-1 Card Reader/Writer in Windows 2000/Me/XP Please locate the green arrow icon as shown below. 2. Please right click on the icon. Safely Remove Hardware will appear. Left click to enter the removal window. 5 3. After the following window appears, please select the USB Mass Storage Device and click on Stop to continue. 4. The Stop a Hardware device window will appear. Please click on OK for removal. 5. When the Safe To Remove Hardware window appears, the 6-in-1 Card Reader/Writer is ready to be disconnected. 6 If you don't follow the above steps to remove the device, the Unsafe Removal of Device message (in Windows 2000) will appear: Driver Installation for Mac OS 8.6 and Mac OS 9.X 1. 2. 3. Insert the Driver CD into the CD-ROM drive and drag folder McRW_b (under folder Mac on the Driver CD) to the desktop. Run Installer program under folder McRW_b on the desktop. Restart the computer to complete the installation process. Driver Installation for Mac OS X 10.1.2 The Transcend 6-in-1 Card Reader/Writer is a driver-free device for Mac OS X 10.1.2. You can connect it to an available USB port via the USB extension cable and don't have to install a special driver. Mac OS X 10.1.2 will detect the device and install all the associated files required for its use automatically. How to Use the 6-in-1 Card Reader/Writer with Mac OS 1. 2. Connect the ends of the USB extension cable into the 6-in-1 Card Reader/Writer and an available USB port of your computer. Insert a storage card into the 6-in-1 Card Reader/Writer. A disk icon will appear on the desktop. You can then use the storage card as if it were a Mac HardDisk. 7 3. If you want to remove the storage card, you must first drag and drop the corresponding disk icon into the trashcan. After the disk icon disappears, you can remove the storage card. (Never remove a storage card directly because the system might halt.) When there is in no storage card in the 6-in-1 Card Reader/Writer, you can disconnect the device from the USB port at any time. 4. Warning Never remove or insert a storage card or disconnect the USB extension cable while data are being transmitted. To avoid improper shutdown, open the transmitted file from its new location to ensure transmission has been completed. This warranty is subject to the conditions and limitations set forth herein. Duration of Warranty: Transcend USB Card Readers are covered by this warranty for a period of five (5) years from the date of purchase. Transcend will inspect the product and make the determination as to whether the product is eligible for repair or replacement. The decision by Transcend regarding eligibility of the product for repair or replacement will be final and binding. Transcend reserves the right to provide a functionally equivalent refurbished replacement product.
