Manual abstract: user guide TRANSTEL GROUP CPE-BM BATTERY MODULE FOR CPE ONE

Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

Installation and Operation of the TransTel Battery Module for the CPE ONE Introduction The Battery Module (CPE-BM) houses two 2.0 Ahr batteries and circuitry for charging the batteries. The CPE-BM is designed to provide uninterrupted service for the CPE in case of temporary power outages. Fully charged batteries will power the CPE ONE for about 24 hours in standby mode and approximately two hours of operation. The CPE-BM is not designed to serve as a permanent power source for the CPE ONE. Copyright TransTel Group, Inc. Norcross, GA 30093, USA All rights reserved. Subject to change without prior notice. Installation of the CPE-BM Unplug the power cord from the power receptacle of the CPE ONE. Remove the wall mounting brackets from the bottom plate of the CPE ONE if they were previously installed. Locate the plug of the five-wire cable in the 3/4 by 2 1/2-inch opening in the top side of the CPE-BM TransTel Group, Inc. 5555 Oakbrook Parkway Norcross, GA 30093 Tel. 770 368-8343 Fax 770 368-8382 10/96 and pull it out to a length of two to three inches. Orient the bottom of the CPE above the battery module as indicated in Figure 1. Hold the CPE ONE and the battery module tightly together and locate the four captive screws in the corners of the bottom side of the battery module. Using a blade screw driver, tighten by turning the captive screws clockwise. If desired, the wall mounting brackets can now be attached to the bottom plate of the battery module. To do this, one of the brackets must be mounted parallel to the above narrow face of the battery module shown in Figure 1. The other bracket must be mounted at the opposite bottom section. Figure 1. CPE ONE (top) in correct orientation above Battery Module for joining the two units. Note that the three flat-head screws of the CPE ONE (top part of drawing) and the three screws of the Battery Module (bottom part of drawing) line up on the same side. Operation of the CPE-BM Move the slide switch of the CPE ONE to ENABLE. Plug the power cord into the receptacle of the CPE ONE. After a delay of five seconds the yellow diode of the CPE ONE will light up and the unit will turn on. To check correct operation unplug the power cord. The yellow diode should remain lit. Reconnect the power cord. The slide switch must be in the ENABLE position for proper operation. To turn the unit off while the battery module is connected, unplug the power cord from the CPE ONE and move the slide switch to DISABLE. Carefully insert the plug with the five-wire cable into the matching five-pin connector located in the 3/4 by 1/2-inch opening of the bottom plate of the CPE ONE. Please note that the plug can only be inserted one way: The narrow side of plug and connector must match. Gently place the CPE ONE on top of the battery module. If the above alignment was correctly carried out, the two units will fit perfectly. If the two units do not fit together, repeat the above orientation procedure. Page 2 Page 3 ...
