Using any other power adapter may severely damage the scanner and will void the product warranty. USB Cable Driver ­ SilverFast Ai on CD. Application Software ­ Adobe PhotoShop Elements on CD. User's Manual (including Warranty Card). Slide Mount x 2 Operating Ambient Temperature Range 50° to 104°F (10° to 40°C) Note: Do not turn on the scanner unless it is within this range. If the scanner has been stored or transported outside of this range, allow it to return to within this range before turning on. Operating Ambient Humidity Range 15% to 76% relative humidity (non-condensing) Note: If the scanner is stored or transported in cold temperature, and then brought into a warm, humid environment, condensation may occur. 3 Quick Installation Guide 1. Install Scanner Software a. Be sure to install Adobe Photoshop Elements before installing SilverFast Ai scanner driver. b. You may install the SilverFast Ai scanner driver directly if you have already installed a Twain compliant application software or Mac plug-in into your computer. c. Install the SilverFast Ai driver first before you connect the film scanner to the host computer! Refer to installation instructions noted in the SilverFast Ai cd booklet. 2. Connect the Scanner to a power source a. Make sure the scanner power is OFF. b. Plug the DC jack into the scanner (AC DC) c. Plug the AC adapter into power source. 3. Connect Scanner to your computer via the USB Port. a. Attach the appropriate USB cable end to the computer. b. Attach the other end to the scanner. Congratulations! You are finished with installation. Now you are ready to scan your slides and film! 4 4. Loading the Scanner with a filmstrip/roll film. Please use 35mm filmstrips at least 3 frames long (recommend 4 frames long). The scanner will load the filmstrip automatically when you insert 3 frames of film. You can use color negatives, color slide film, or black and white negative film. For filmstrips with less than 3 frames, please cut the strip into single pieces and use them in the provided slide mounts. a. Turn on the scanner and the computer. b. Clean the filmstrip with a blower or a soft brush. c. Make sure there are no slides or filmstrips already inside the scanner. d. Made sure the image of the film is right side up. e. Feed the filmstrip gently into the top level feeder until the film is automatically pulled into the scanner. Make sure there is no filmstrip inside the scanner before you insert a slide. a. Please use single mounted 35mm slides. b. Push the front sliding door down until it locks into the position. c. Hold the slide vertically with the image side facing left and longer side towards the slot. d. Gently push slide completely into the scanner. e. To remove, push the Eject button next to the slot and pull slide out from the scanner. 5 Scanning with PhotoShop Elements ­ Setup Follow the steps in this section each time you wish to use the scanner with Adobe Photoshop Elements. 1. Turn on your computer and scanner. The upper-right LED light is on when scanner is connected with power. 2. Turn on other devices, if necessary. 3. Open Adobe PhotoShop Elements. 4. Launch the scanner driver, SilverFast Ai, on your Macintosh or PC-compatible as follows. Macintosh. Choose SilverFast Ai from the "Import" submenu of the Adobe PhotoShop Elements "File" menu. PC-compatible. Choose SilverFast Ai on the "Import" submenu of the "Adobe PhotoShop Elements "File" menu.
