Manual abstract: user guide VEXILAR PRO PACK - GETTING STARTED

Detailed instructions for use are in the User's Guide.

GETTING STARTED WITH THE VEXILAR PRO PACK The Vexilar Pro Pack comes pre-assembled with everything you need to start fishing. There are several things that you need to know before you use the system for the first time. 1. The power connections are pre-wired, but the unit is shipped with the battery disconnected so that it will not discharge while the package is on the store shelf. You must connect it before you can use the Pro Pack. Simply push the connectors onto the proper terminals (red for positive and black for negative). The battery is charged so the Battery Status Indicator should read Full. It won't hurt to top it off, just so you know that it is fully charged. See the other side of this sheet for complete battery charging instructions. 2. Make sure you use the protective foam insert next to the battery to store the Ice-Ducer. Simply push the transducer into the hole. This will guard against vibration and impact damage that can cause the transducer to become weak. 3. The short arm is provided in case you don't want to use the Ice-Ducer's float to support the transducer in the ice hole. The Transducer Support Arm mounts by sliding one of the square ends into one of the vertical slots in the base of the Porta Case. It can be installed four different ways, depending on which side of the unit you want to hang the transducer from. Be sure to remove the float from the transducer cord by pulling it through the slit in the side of the float. Hang the IceDucer from the support arm by setting the stopper in the semicircle at the end of the arm. Adjust your transducer depth as desired. Ice-Ducer System 4. Make sure that when you are done using your Pro Pack you recharge the battery and disconnect it before long storage periods. Remember to top it off every couple of months when you're not using it. 5. Read the included owners manual for complete instructions on how to operate and interprete the flasher unit. Transducer Support Arm BATTERY CHARGING AND MONITORING Your Vexilar Pro Pack system comes with a high quality sealed lead acid (gel cell) battery. In order to insure maximum running time for your flasher and maximum battery life, you need to follow some simple charging rules. The included charger is specifically designed for this battery. The charger is also protected internally from reverse hook up and short circuits. As long as you follow these instructions, you can expect many hours of use and many years of service from the battery. To Charge the Battery 1. Plug the charger into a standard 110 VAC wall outlet. Make sure the charger's light is on. 2. Connect the red charger clip to the positive battery terminal and the black clip to the negative terminal. The charger's light should turn off. This indicates that the battery is accepting a charge. 3. Let the battery charge until the charger's light comes back on. Make sure you wait until it gets to full brightness. If you disconnect the charger from the battery and the light gets brighter, the battery is not fully charged. Charge times can range up to 48 hours for a completely dead battery. Do not leave the charger connected to the battery for more than 48 hours after the light has come on to full brightness. Tip - For faster charges with automatic shutoff, see your dealer about the optional V-300 Charger. 4. Fully recharge the battery after each use. Be sure to charge it soon after you are done using it. However, do not charge it when it is cold. Bring the battery indoors and allow it to warm up for at least one hour before connecting the charger. 5. For battery storage, make sure it is disconnected from the system. Charge it every month or two to insure that it maintains a full charge during the storage period. Monitoring the Battery The Battery Status Indicator attached to the handle of your Pro Pack is designed to allow you to see the level of charge in the battery. The POWER ON light indicates that the battery is connected properly. The meaning of the other lights is shown in this figure. Notice that the charger and the status indicator both have lights that tell you when the battery is fully charged. These lights may not come on at the same time. Use the charger's indicator light as your primary "charge done" indicator. If you should ever use a different charger to charge this battery, use the Battery Status Indicator light as your "charge complete" indicator. It is important to note that percent of charge shown will vary with the temperature and battery load. The most accurate reading will be shown when the flasher is turned off and the battery is near room temperature.
